Suthren Shooters! Bless Their Heart. They Walk Amongst Us. Hollywood Then.

DON'T MESS WITH SOUTHERN WOMEN

And they walk among us:

Some guy bought a new fridge for his house.
To get rid of his old fridge, he put it in his front yard and
hung a   Sign on it saying: 'Free to good home.  You want it, you take it.'
For three days the fridge sat there without anyone looking twice.
He eventually decided that people were too mistrustful of this deal..
So he changed the sign to read: 'Fridge for sale $50.'
The next day someone stole it!

They walk amongst us!
------------------------------ -------
* One day I was walking down the beach with
Some friends when someone shouted....
'Look at that dead bird!'
looking up at the sky, someone said...'where?'

They walk among us!
------------------------------ ----------------------------

While looking at a house, my brother asked the
Real Estate agent which direction was north because
He didn't want the sun waking him up every morning.
She asked, 'Does the sun rise in the north?'
My brother explained that the sun rises in the east
And has for some time. She shook her head and said,
'Oh, I don't keep up with all that stuff......'

They Walk Among Us!
------------------------------ ------------
Traffic Camera

A man was driving when he saw the   flash of a traffic camera.   He figured that his picture had been taken for exceeding the limit, even though he   knew that he was not speeding... Just to be sure, he went around the block and passed the same spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed. Now he began to think that this was quite funny, so he drove even slower as he passed the area again, but the traffic camera again flashed. He tried a fourth time with the same result.. He did this a fifth time and was now laughing when the camera flashed as he rolled past, this time at a snail's pace... Two weeks later, he got five tickets in the mail for driving without a seat belt..

They walk among us!

My colleague and I were eating our lunch in our cafeteria,
when we overheard an admin girl talking about the
sunburn she got on her weekend drive to the beach.
She drove down in a convertible, but said
she 'didn't think she'd get sunburned
because the car was moving'.

They Walk Among Us!
------------------------------ ------

My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car which is designed to cut through a seat belt
if she gets trapped. She keeps it in the car trunk.

They Walk Among Us!
------------------------------ -------------------
I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area and went to the
Lost luggage office and reported the loss.
The woman there smiled and told me not to worry
because she was a trained professional and
said I was in good hands. 'Now,' she asked me,
'Has your plane arrived yet?'...
(I work with professionals like this.)

They Walk Among Us!
------------------------------ -------------
While working at a pizza parlor I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go.
He appeared to be alone and the cook asked him
if he would like it cut into 4 pieces or 6.
He thought about it for some time then said 'Just cut it into 4 pieces;
I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat 6 pieces.

They Walk Among Us!

I believe my previous memo is pertinent because in a few days we are going to consider a possible  transition from shut down to beginning a return to a semblance of balance.  Past recessions have taken mainly two courses.  If the economy was radically overextended, and this one was leveraged but not radically overextended, the drop can be swift and recovery periods generally take a longer period.  V recoveries occur when the market often mis-reads the causes of the severity of the decline for reasons that are not what they appear to be.

Our economy was good prior to this virus episode.  Yes government spending and debt was too high, interest rates were too low, in my opinion, but we were also in an election year when the party in power likes to put lipstick on the pig.

Then the virus crisis hit and I believe the world will/must change drastically and China will/should hopefully become the victim. This can be favorable because it means somewhat higher cost manufacturing will return to America and will produce some higher inflation but it also means we are more in control of our own destiny and people get employed. That is healthy.

If we can make the transition to more normalcy without a medical surge upward in virus cases we will begin to move past this ugly period. Yesterday's market reflects some of this optimism, which still could be overblown and unjustified, but it demonstrates the power of what a V recovery can cause.  Stay calm and be patient. Perhaps Trump's reading and prophesy will prove correct and we will have a more V like recovery. and the milder/shorter "recession" we might experience will permit a longer recovery post 2020.
Stay tuned.

This was sent to me by the beautiful wife of a retired Marine Corps. Officer. Semper Fi!

WW2, perhaps, was not comparable to the Iran and Afghanistan conflict but certainly those who inhabited Hollywood in the '40's are quite different than those who inhabit Hollywood today.

THE OLDER PEOPLE WILL REMEMBER THESE.  THE YOUNGER ONES CAN LEARN ABOUT OUR PAST. THIS BROUGHT BACK A LOT OF MEMORIES.   COMPARE WITH HOLLYWOOD TODAY!

And of course we have Audie Murphy, America 's most-decorated soldier, who became a Hollywood star as a result of his US Army service that included his being awarded the Medal of Honor.

Would someone please remind me again how many of today's Hollywood elite put their careers on hold to enlist in Iraq or Afghanistan? The only one
who even comes close was Pat Tillman, who turned down a contract offer of $36 million over three years from the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the US Army after September 11, 2001, and serve as a Ranger in Afghanistan , where he died in 2004. But rather than being lauded for his choice and his decision to put his country before his career, he was mocked and derided by many of his peers.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I submit to you that this is not the America today that it was seventy years ago. And I, for one, am saddened. My generation grew up watching, being entertained by and laughing with so many of these fine people, never really knowing what they contributed to the war effort.
Like millions of Americans during the WWII, there was a job that needed doing they didn't question, they went and did it, those that came home returned to their now new normal life and carried on, very few ever saying what they did or saw.

They took it as their "responsibility", their "duty" to Country, to protect and preserve our freedoms and way of life, not just for themselves but for all future generations to come. As a member of a later generation, I'm forever humbly in their debt!
