Post Virus Conversation/Conclusions. Israel - Get Your Act Together.

;++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
From time to time I post cartoons and articles  I do not agree with because:

a) I want those who read these memos to be exposed to the other side.  Know your enemy and what he is doing and thinking.

and:

b) It allows me to display what I am rebutting.

I just finished an interesting call with a dear friend and fellow memo reader and we discussed the post virus implications, most particularly those pertaining to China.

Right or wrong we came to these conclusions:

1) The world would eventually penalize China by disengaging.

2) A good bit of production would be removed from China and return home for security reasons alone.

3) When it comes to China,  Trump has been ahead of the curve all along though he could never have predicted the escape of a virus from a Chinese Lab in Wuhan.  Consequently, like Reagan's comment to Russia and his "tear down this wall" that went viral so will the Chinese people begin to realize Communist Leadership is not serving them well.

My friend also pointed to the signs Iranians were holding up in protest when Obama was president.  They were for us but Obama failed to do anything. Just another Benghazi?

4) As production moves elsewhere, technology will allow small nations to manufacture what the Chinese had been achieving  due to cheap labor. This has already been occurring. My friend pointed out, Japan did not beat us with cheap labor as much as they employed technology and their brainpower. They also learned from an American efficiency expert what American executives arrogantly disregarded.

5) We also discussed the changes this pandemic will cause in sectors like education, the benefit of vocational training versus traditional college course selection and perhaps extending to and impacting eating habits, travel, entertainment and social interaction, attendance at sporting events etc.

Retail shopping was already undergoing significant changes.

6) Perhaps even the private sector will regain respect for being flexible and having the ability to change/convert  swiftly and those who believe in big government will lose some credibility.

7) Trump has an opportunity to drive home his accomplishments while throwing some cold water on those who cannot look beyond his quirky, unorthodox personality and stultifying manner of speechifying.

8) In a perverse way, China may have unwittingly provided America with a wake up call but at a very high cost  Will we seize the opportunity and return to a nation that is less divided? I have serious doubts but hope always springs eternal.  Stay tuned.

9) One would hope the increased financial cost would force political spenders to stop hemorrhaging our nation and restore sanity to the way we conduct our fiscal/monetary matters.

I do not believe this will happen because politicians only act after the crisis.

When the Administration begins opening the economy Trump should first sew up Schumer and Pelosi's mouths. I have a needle.

Israel cannot get it's act together. Seems the only thing that unites Israeli's is a war.  How stupid.

Bernie Marcus has spent untold time urging the nation to draft a constitution.

Blue and White on verge of split, Gantz candidate for speaker

In a dramatic turn of events, Blue and White leader Benny Gantz will be voted in as the next speaker of the Knesset on Thursday after his party reached an agreement with Likud that could result in the breakup of Gantz's party.
The Likud has objected to Blue and White MK Meir Cohen becoming Knesset speaker, because he is from the Yesh Atid party in Blue and White that may end up staying out of a national unity government if it is initially led by Netanyahu. Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid has an agreement with Gantz that the speaker must come from his party.
A meeting of the cockpit of leaders in Blue and White ended in what has been described as the worst ever fight among the leaders. Sources in Blue and White said the party is closer to splitting than ever before.
Appointing Gantz as speaker gives time for coalition negotiations between Likud and Blue and White, which intensified on Thursday at the request of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (Likud) and Blue and White leader Benny Gantz.
Both sides tried to reach preliminary agreements before the 4pm vote for Knesset speaker at a special session of the Knesset plenum to replace outgoing speaker Yuli Edelstein that was requested by the Supreme Court early Thursday.
Likud faction chairman Miki Zohar said that if Cohen becomes Knesset speaker, coalition talks would end immediately. He said he was speaking for Netanyahu when he said it. Likud officials noted that in the plan Netanyahu presented on Saturday night, the Knesset speaker could come from the party of the prime minister and then shift to the other party when there is a rotation.
The idea of Gantz himself temporarily serving as Knesset speaker was immediately rejected by Yesh Atid, Yisrael Beytenu, Meretz and the Joint List. But Likud and its satellite parties will vote for him.
“If Gantz becomes the candidate for Knesset speaker in order please Likud and form a unity government, we will vote no,” Joint List faction chairman Ahmad Tibi told a meeting of the Knesset Arrangements Committee.
Tibi then turned to the Blue and White MKs in the room and joked: “Next time, consult with me first.”
The Arrangements Committee voted to enable the special session of the Knesset by a nine to seven vote.
The Likud and its satellite parties participated in that vote, but they continued boycotting some of the Knesset’s proceedings, including the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. The only MK from the Right who came to a meeting of the new Coronavirus Committee was Ayelet Shaked (Yamina).
