There is one message Chinese leadership will understand and that is the withdrawal of production from   and commerce with China and engagement with new manufacturing and supply chains in other democratic nations.  The sooner the better.  China must be treated as the pariah it has chosen to become.

And:

Today I suspect Trump will reveal how he will now turn his focus exclusively on China and this is why he is planning to walk back from Afghanistan in the hope the picture there has been stabilized enough for us to end our policing.

Obviously Trump's initial overture has failed and China has chosen to take an aggressive path to bullying the world as they seek to supplant America.
