Iran restarts nuke parts production at facility Mossad accused of blowing up - report

Centrifuges enrich uranium for potentially making a nuclear weapon, and some of Iran's more advanced models can speed up that process by a rate of four to five times compared to older models.

Iran has resumed production of equipment for advanced centrifuges at the Karaj nuclear site that it accused the Mossad of blowing up in June, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

The report cited Western diplomatic sources who expressed concern that  Iran could start to secretly divert advanced centrifuges to undeclared sites if it wished to clandestinely move closer to a nuclear weapon.

Centrifuges enrich uranium for potentially making a nuclear weapon, and some of Iran’s more advanced models can speed up that process by a rate of four to five times compared to older models.

These concerns are exacerbated by the fact that the IAEA admitted in September that it has been blind to what is going on at Karaj since June because of the Islamic Republic’s refusal to grant the nuclear inspectors access to the site or explain what happened to the monitoring cameras.

Although Tehran has claimed that postponing IAEA access relates to its investigation of the June sabotage attack in which the site was attacked by a drone, allegedly directed by the Mossad, IAEA Director-General Rafel Grossi has already said in September that such an explanation no longer holds water.

Fomer prime minister Ehud Barak has expressed concern that with a newly growing supply of 60% enriched uranium and advanced centrifuges, it would be easier to hide aspects of the nuclear program than in the past, when a bigger space was needed for a much larger number of less advanced centrifuges to enrich lower quality uranium.

Former Mossad director Yossi Cohen has also expressed concerns about Iran’s ability to make clandestine moves and that any return of the US to a nuclear deal with the Islamic Republic would require much stricter controls over the nuclear program.

The Western diplomats quoted said there was no sign that Iran was trying to break out faster to a nuclear weapon, but it was unclear how they would know if Tehran tried to do so clandestinely.

Israeli intelligence officials have also expressed concern that the more advanced centrifuges there are – overt or covert – the greater the danger that Iran could breakout not with one but with five nuclear weapons, along the lines of its 1999-2003 plans.

It was unclear how the Western diplomats had information on general developments at Karaj without getting to physically visit the site and whether the revelations were based on a summary of developments passed on by Iran or independent resources.

The report also noted that some of the 170 newly built advanced centrifuges from the parts produced at Karaj were being installed in Tehran’s Fordow facility, deep underground and fortified.

In addition, the report said that production at Karaj resumed in August, but that now production had jumped to much higher levels.

Iran’s production of centrifuges will be a critical issue in talks to revive the 2015 nuclear deal with the world powers scheduled to resume November 29. It is possible that the latest leaked reports might be an attempt by the ayatollahs to intimidate the Biden administration into agreeing to new concessions for fear of how far Iran will go if no deal is cut soon.

Israel continues to oppose any negotiations modeled after the 2015 deal which it considers too weak to limit Iran’s nuclear enrichment, ballistic missile program and regional aggression not to mention its approaching expiration dates in 2025 and 2030.

With the Islamic Republic already at more than 1,000 advanced centrifuges and the 2015 deal limiting it to fewer than 100 such centrifuges, Israeli intelligence officials are concerned that any deal which does not lead to the destruction of these new centrifuges will be close to meaningless.

The mass media reported Republicans who failed to vote for the smaller infrastructure bill purposely wanted to portray them as politically biased.

The report today about retail sales proved that the last thing the economy needs is more stimulus considering the ramped inflation coursing through our economic veins.

They knew, by voting for the smaller bill, it would possibly make it easier for the second gigantic bill, which does little by way of infrastructure, to be approved.. This bill is a Trojan Horse and was crafted to slip in a lot of more social spending  and  welfare programs etc. It's effect is to increase the rate of inflation which is already reaching dangerous levels.

Substituting government for parenting is anathema to most Americans.

St. John's College

Three years ago, St. John’s College took a risk by radically transforming our financial model, lowering tuition by one-third, and setting out to balance our budget. It’s working. Enrollment is up, the budget is balanced, and our new class of Johnnies features many impressive students who couldn’t have attended under the old tuition rates.

#GivingTuesdaySJC has been crucial to that success. On this once-a-year giving day, every gift counts—no matter how small—as proof that our community is committed to preserving the Program for the next generation. Our 325-year-old institution relies on you to secure the future of the college at a time when many institutions are struggling.

Watch Dean Joe Macfarland make the case for how #GivingTuesdaySJC is working, and on November 30, help us make this one of our biggest giving days ever.

An interesting read:

Israel Is at the Center of a New International Security Order
An alliance that spans from the U.S. through Europe to India is emerging to combat belligerent actors in the Middle East.
By Seth J. Frantzman

Iran couldn’t have been happy to see forces from Bahrain, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and the U.S. Navy training together for the first time in history. Last week’s five-day drill in the Red Sea was intended to enhance interoperability among the countries, but also sent a strong message to Tehran: There’s now a large, organized bloc of countries opposed to its ambitions of regional hegemony. The bloc’s nexus is Israel.

The Abraham Accords—which Israel, the U.A.E. and Bahrain signed in September 2020—smoothed the way for last week’s joint exercise. Since the Cold War, Israel has been a part of the U.S. European Command’s area of responsibility rather than that of Central Command, which stretches from Egypt to Kazakhstan. Though it makes more geographic sense for Israel to be included in Centcom, doing so would have upset the many countries in that area of responsibility that until recently didn’t recognize Israel. If the Centcom forces trained with Israel, many other regional allies would have refused to conduct joint exercises. The Abraham Accords altered the geopolitical landscape. In January the U.S. announced Israel would become a part of Centcom’s area of responsibility, making it easier for the U.S. to organize joint military drills in Israel.

Last week I spoke with Maj. Shai Shachar, 33, commander in charge of the warfare branch of Israel’s elite counterterror school. He was part of another recent joint training with roughly 500 U.S. Marines. After arriving in early November in Eilat, a southern Israeli city on the Red Sea, the American forces traveled to a place called “little Gaza” in the Negev Desert to train with Israel commandos. They practiced urban battlefield tactics and even underground combat—in which Israelis are experts, having fought Hamas terrorists in Gaza’s cities and tunnels.

For the Israelis who participated, swapping knowledge with U.S. Marines was a unique experience. Mr. Shachar said the American soldiers had a remarkably similar war-fighting methodology and problem-solving approach to Israel’s commandos. He expects to see more training in the future.

Troops from around the world have come to Israel this year to train. Last month, air force units from France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, the U.K. and the U.S. flew in the biennial Blue Flag drill over Israel. This year’s exercise included the largest number of countries since it began in 2013. In July Israel hosted American, British and German drone operators. The month before, Israel, the U.K. and the U.S. flew F-35s together as part of the Tri-Lightning exercise. In March, Cyprus and France joined the Israel-led Noble Dina naval drill for the first time off Cyprus’s west coast.

These exercises aren’t only to strengthen each country’s military expertise, but to build a new alliance system that stretches from India to Europe, with Israel as its linchpin. Israel faces daily threats from terrorists, from the fighting in Gaza in May to its frequent airstrikes in Syria against Iranian arms shipments to Hezbollah. Military units that practice with Israeli forces gain real combat expertise and signal that Jerusalem has allies increasingly working to confront potential threats in the region. This military diplomacy is knitting together an alliance that connects further-flung countries like India or Germany through regional partners like the U.A.E. and Bahrain or Cyprus and Greece.

It’s also bridging a variety of foreign-policy controversies. This includes recent spats such as France’s frustration with its exclusion from a new submarine deal signed by Australia, the U.K. and the U.S., as well as Middle Eastern countries’ longstanding diplomatic distance from Israel. Even a few years ago, it would have been unthinkable for the U.A.E. air chief to visit Israel or Israeli companies to showcase new cooperation and technologies at the Dubai Air Show. The Abraham Accords changed all that.

These new collaborations have many potential uses, from fighting terrorist groups to checking Iran’s attempts at controlling the region. Where belligerent actors once faced a series of isolated countries, they’ll now have to tangle with an organized alliance that is intent on opposing them—even on the battlefield.

CIA Calls Emergency Meeting With Vladimir Putin

(FiveNation.com)- William Burns, the director of the CIA, reportedly discussed American concerns about the expansion of the Russian military at the Ukrainian border last week. He raised the concerns during a rare direct conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

An anonymous source familiar with the conversation told CNN that it would be “foolish” for the United States not to consider the possibility of an incursion or invasion into the region.

The conversation was then confirmed by Dimitry Peskov, a spokesperson for President Putin, who said that they discussed the matter over the telephone.

Peskov said that they also discussed the “crisis situation in the diplomatic practice,” “bilateral relations,” and “views on regional conflicts.” They also reportedly discussed cybersecurity matters.

Ukraine recently downplayed the increase in Russia’s military presence on the border, with the Defense Ministry saying just last week that Moscow has historically transferred and accumulated military units “for the purpose of maintaining tension in the region and political pressure on neighboring countries.”

Which doesn’t sound so much as a reason not to worry…but more of a reason to worry about Russian’s intentions.

Ahead of the September parliamentary elections in Russia, there were also rumors that the ramping up of Russia’s military presence on the Ukrainian border was an effort to rally the Russian people behind the strong leadership of Vladimir Putin so that they would turn out and vote for his party.

Two senior American officials also told CNN that the Biden White House is concerned about satellite images showing irregular movements of Russian troops on the border, along with tanks and artillery.

We could be on the verge of new Russian aggression – and our president is probably the worst equipped president in recent history to handle it.

Finally:

Biden abandoned Americans to protect his deal with the Taliban. The deal isn’t over yet.

By Daniel Greenfield, FPM Nov 16/21

Every week new revelations arrive about the scale of Biden’s betrayal in Afghanistan. After months of claiming that only a few hundred Americans had been abandoned behind enemy lines, the real numbers are still growing. Shocking reports continue to come to light including a military memo which claims that over a hundred family members of servicemen may still be trapped under Taliban rule.

Biden and his brass promised an accounting, but have offered only lies and excuses. Congressional hearings have produced nothing except cable news theater. While the Taliban throw parades showing off captured American military equipment, the Biden administration is dispatching $144 million in aid.
