Notre Dame Cathedral slammed over rebuild plans turning it into 'woke theme park'

The cathedral was destroyed by fire in 2014

By Andrew Mark Miller |

Critics are bashing the rebuild of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, accusing renovators of turning the 850-year-old church into a "woke theme park."

Under the new plans to rebuild the fire-ravaged church, confessional boxes, altars and several classical sculptures will be replaced by art murals, sound and lighting effects, and room for "emotional spaces," according to the Telegraph.

Visitors will also be able to travel along a "discovery trail" that beams scripture onto the walls in a variety of languages, including Mandarin Chinese.

One of the sanctuaries in the new church will reportedly be dedicated to the environment.

"It's as if Disney were entering Notre Dame," award-winning Paris architect Maurice Culot told the Telegraph. "What they are proposing to do to Notre Dame would never be done to Westminster Abbey or Saint Peter's in Rome. It's a kind of theme park and very childish and trivial given the grandeur of the place."

The Catholic church claims the renovations will make the building accessible and understandable to people all over the world. One critic countered that the renovations will turn the church into a "politically correct Disneyland."

"Can you imagine the administration of the Holy See allowing something like this in the Sistine Chapel?" said a senior source with access to the proposed plans. "It would be unimaginable. We are not in an empty space here.

"This is political correctness gone mad," the source added. "They want to turn Notre Dame into an experimental liturgical showroom that exists nowhere else, whereas it should be a landmark where the slightest change must be handled with great care."

The cathedral was almost completely destroyed by a devastating fire in April of 2019, and hundreds of millions of dollars have been donated to rebuild it. French President Emmanuel Macron has set a goal of 2024 to allow visitors inside.

Something that never happens in America anymore is saving two Ohio counties in free fall

BY SALENA ZITO

MARTINS FERRY, Ohio — What happened in this Belmont County city never happens anymore in Appalachia. In fact, it rarely happens anywhere in America. Two years after the East Ohio Regional Hospital shut its doors after 114 years of serving the people of this region, the doors opened again this spring. “Nobody opens hospitals anymore,” said Bernie Albertini, the administrator and chief operating officer at East Ohio. The Wheeling native, who has been running hospitals most of his professional career, came out of early retirement when Dayton native Dr. John Johnson decided to invest in the community and reopen the facility this spring.

The astonishing development brought more than 500 jobs — 100 more than had worked in the hospital previously — as well as hope and life to a community that had feared the closing might be the final straw that could break the proverbial camel’s back.

Mr. Albertini, a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives, said he called the organization looking for anyone who had opened a hospital recently; they essentially said, “Good luck.”

When East Ohio closed, Mr. Albertini said the news and impact were devastating in a region that has become all too used to loss. Belmont County and neighboring Jefferson County are among several in the Ohio Valley that have suffered significant population losses since the slow death of American manufacturing began in the 1970s. Population numbers plunged again in the latest census, with Belmont losing an additional 5.5 percent of its people and Jefferson 6.4 percent. That population loss will bring more loss — specifically in political clout in Washington because the state will lose another congressional seat.

The closing of East Ohio Hospital left locals without easy access to an emergency room, doctors’ offices and surgical procedures, a lack of access Mr. Albertini says is an epidemic in rural America.

He admits he had to be nudged a bit to take the daunting job of reviving the defunct regional hospital.

“When I walked into the hospital with a security guard and a flashlight after it had been closed for two years, it was like walking into a post-apocalyptic horror movie, complete with light fixtures hanging from the ceiling and walls peeling away,” he said of the tour he took before he took the job.

Last week, there were nursing students from Jefferson County’s Eastern Gateway Community College doing rounds amid the bustle in the brightly-lit hallways, as well as some fanfare over a Starbucks coffee shop in the lobby about to open.

Mr. Albertini calls the hospital’s reopening a game changer.

Hospitals are economic drivers, he said: “It is not just the people who work here, it is all of the local businesses we do business with; we are a true job creator. We use United Dairy, which is across the street from the hospital, where we get all of our dairy products. We use Martins Ferry Hardware. We buy our office supplies from Borden Office Supply up in East Liverpool,” he said, reeling off a long list of local small businesses the hospital chooses to support over large, out-of-state suppliers.

Whether you walk along the main street of Martins Ferry, or Mingo Junction, or Steubenville, a fascinating mix of deep roots, connection, pride and sense of community competes with the reality of shuttered storefronts and an exodus of young people.

The steel mills that lined the Ohio River here literally rebuilt the country at the dawn of the 20th Century. That industrial vitality is largely gone, and figuring out how to stem the losses has eluded civic leaders for generations.

Both Mr. Albertini here in Belmont and Robert Naylor, the executive director of the Jefferson County Port Authority, are looking at the problems with fresh eyes and an understanding that it takes their communities’ civic leaders and stakeholders working in unison to make change.
Mr. Albertini says the path forward should be recognizing the importance of small steps rather than pining for one big thing to swoop in and save everything.

Mr. Naylor points to two very different yet very important areas of opportunity for his county: higher education and manufacturing.

“JSW Steel in Mingo Junction is working on modernizing their facility; currently they employ over 300 people, and we are working with them on other projects so that they can continue to develop a parcel there and expand their production.” In the same way that Mr. Albertini views the hospital opening, Mr. Naylor also calls JSW’s commitment to expand a “game changer.”
On the benefits of higher education, Mr. Naylor says not only does Eastern Gateway Community College provide workforce development jobs like nursing and welding that keep young people close to their roots, Franciscan University in Steubenville retains some who never considered living here before.

Tommy Valentine, 27, is one of them. The Virginia native came to Steubenville to attend Franciscan; he got his degree in history and never left. “You know, I went to the university and never thought I’d live here. I thought I’d do my four years and then get out. As I got to know this town, felt the sense of community, I never wanted to leave.”

Mr. Valentine, who works for a Catholic political group, said the ability to find an affordable home was also appealing, “and a good quality of life; a lot has been done here in Steubenville to try to revitalize. You know, we’ll never be what it was, but to try to revitalize the town into something good — and be part of it — is what is so appealing.”

Mr. Albertini says correcting the shrinking populations in counties like Belmont and Jefferson is a lot like being in the health-care industry: “It’s a tough business to be in, the margins are low, the equipment to maintain it is expensive.” A lot like small cities in rural counties trying to keep their heads above water.

Mr. Albertini said when Dr. Johnson bought the hospital, he asked him, “Why of all the places in the world he picked this town and this hospital, when everyone else was betting against them?

“He said this was his experiment to prove that if you capitalize a small rural hospital and run it right, it can survive and thrive and actually stand up to — and compete with — the big hospitals of the world,” Mr. Albertini said.

It is an experiment that could possibly apply to the fortunes of small towns across America.

ISRAEL NEEDS TO TAKE A LESSON FROM SWITZERLAND AND THE SCANDANAVIA COUNTRIES.

Cancelling Israel’s mandatory service requirement would be a terrible mistake

The comparison between college life in America and Israel is a stark contrast, framed by the requirement of army service here.

BY Douglas Altabef

A recent poll released by Arutz 7 reveals that only a plurality, but less than a majority, of Israelis believes in retaining the requirement for IDF, or, at least, national service. Furthermore, the support in favor of cancelling this integral aspect of Israeli society declines among younger respondents.

The reasons for favoring cancelling mandatory service were not discussed, nor specifically polled for. However, I would hazard the guess that the greater sentiment for cancellation among younger respondents reflects the pervading influence of materialism and self-centeredness that has run amok in the West and has impacted life in Israel as well.

Given political polls that show the strength of Right-wing political convictions among youth, I do not think this poll is a political proxy. Rather, I see it reflecting a desire to be unshackled from a commitment not chosen by the individual.

However, I would argue that this commitment is an integral part of the cohesiveness of Israeli society. I have long maintained that cancelling the draft in America, and not then replacing it with some requirement of national service, was a terrible mistake.

National service takes young people away from themselves at precisely the age when they are both most self-absorbed and most capable of lending a hand.

The comparison between college life in America and Israel is a stark contrast, largely framed by the requirement of army service here.

Campuses in America are all about self-actualization, which may or may not include binge drinking, drug experimentation, and sexual adventurism. Given the growing trend to instill one-sided political and worldview perspectives in students, the university’s traditional mission to challenge students, to engage them in new ways of looking at things (without force feeding them the required outcome) – all of this seems increasingly quaint and anachronistic.

Israeli university students are not looking for safe spaces nor hunting for micro-aggressions, because they have just experienced a world that was not about themselves. They were required to be part of a group, a team, to support the group and its mission and, most definitely, to sideline their own wants and desires.

They were exposed to people unlike themselves, from backgrounds different from their own. They experienced the breadth and depth of Israeli society precisely because the IDF is the great leveler and melting pot of Israeli society.

We would be doing an immense disservice to our youth and our nation to end the current requirements. In the interest of parity and fairness, I would recommend that we actually close the loopholes of required service.

There are undoubtedly a great many young people who can not and should not serve in the IDF. But to serve in one way shape or form seems to me to be essential. Sherut Leumi, traditionally the province of religious young women, has been, and can be further expanded and enhanced to include any who do not serve in the IDF.

This enlarged cohort for Sherut Leumi should include Hareidi youth, who are more than capable of serving in hospitals and schools, or in their own communities.

The IDF has done brilliant and praiseworthy work to provide autistic and mentally challenged youth the opportunity to serve in units that can either play to their strengths or enable them to contribute subject to their own limitations.

This is a noble and magnificent effort and reflects society at its best. Why not take this mindset and adapt it for those physically or psychologically unable to be in the Army?

Anecdotally, I do hear about the efforts of some young people to avoid serving in the IDF, for the simple reason that they don’t want to. Many are from affluent families, so their refusal strikes me as an arrogant recusing of themselves from their fellow citizens and from their society.

I simply do not believe that there is nothing that such young people could be doing to help their nation. Conversely, allowing young people to do nothing, especially when others are sacrificing sends a terrible message to all concerned.

One of the major reasons that the US has fractured into Red and Blue America is that Blue America has little or no awareness of the need for military duty. Serving in the US armed forces has become the province of the poor, those who need job training and can’t otherwise afford it, or that diminishing cohort of those for whom serving their country is a noble tradition.

The vast majority of Americans have no familiarity, understanding nor empathy for military service, and the vital role it plays in maintaining the freedoms and security that allow college youth to be as self-centered as so many are.

Army service is not perfect and not for everyone. But for the vast majority of Israeli youth who are capable of doing it, such service will be a win/win. It will help them mature, help them to see the world in a more mature way, and will give them an experience that they will rightfully take pride in.

For our citizens, a citizens’ army is a source of pride and great identification. We each and all know young people who are, have or will be serving. They are our children, our nieces and nephews, our friends’ children. The bonds between the soldiers and those they protect are real, close, even intimate.

Let us not cancel, but rather, build from the strength of this situation, to expand mandatory national service to all our youth in order to foster social fairness, build cohesion and identification with our Nation.

A Very Biden Thanksgiving

By: Bill O'Reilly

The Biden family has a tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving on Nantucket, an island belonging to Massachusetts. Very nice place if you can afford to live there.  Few can.

The President's crew celebrated at the home of David Rubinstein, 72, a billionaire four times over.  Rubinstein made his fortune taking over companies and then reselling them for huge profits.  Elizabeth Warren hates him.

The Biden family had plenty of room to roam in the lavish, ocean-front estate worth about $20 million.  Hunter Biden, in particular, found the environment much to his liking and was overheard saying: "Man, this is better than Ukraine."

His dad was also overheard asking Rubinstein: "You're richer than Barack's friends on Martha's Vineyard, right?"

The following is a partial transcript of the Thanksgiving dinner conversation.  Be forewarned, it came to me from anonymous sources, people widely quoted in the Woodward books.  So, I can't vouch.  Anyway, here we go.

President Biden: If, in fact, it is Thanksgiving ...

Jill Biden: Joe, honey, it is a fact - it's Thanksgiving!

David Rubinstein: Welcome, everyone, to our beach house.  We hope you enjoy the weekend, let the meal begin!

Hunter Biden: I'm expecting a call from Beijing.  How's the cell service here?

Jill Biden: Hunter, sweetheart, let's say grace.

Hunter Biden: Grace?  She's here?

Jill: No, the prayer.

President Biden:  The Pope told me I'm a good Catholic, I know lots of prayers.  At least I think that's what he said. He was speaking in rapid Spanish and kept asking if I wanted my parking ticket validated.  If, in fact, I drove there which I think I did.

David Rubinstein:  We have everything you could possibly want and I paid my fair share of taxes on the groceries which were 40 percent more expensive than last year.

President Biden: Here's the deal, pass the mashed potatoes.  You know, David, we Biden's don't pay for anything.  Never have.  The government picks up everything.  Right, Hunter?

Hunter Biden: It's the greatest deal!  I don't even have a job!

Jill Biden: Let's pause to think about the less fortunate on this Thanksgiving.

President Biden: Man, that would be everybody.  But I'm thinking specifically about Barack and Michelle.

David Rubinstein: So, Mr. President, how's Build Back Better going?

President Biden:  What?

Jill Biden: You know, Joe, the five trillion dollar spending bills?

President Biden: That's incredible.  Can we really spend that much?  How many zeros is that?

Jill Biden: It's going great, David, we should get it passed by the lunar eclipse three years from now.

President Biden: Then everyone would pay their fair share except Hunter.  We can't find his offshore accounts in the Caymans.

Hunter: You'll never find them, Dad ... (much chuckling and chortling).

Jill Biden: Oh, you guys!  May I raise a Thanksgiving toast: here's to our gracious host, David, who has more money than anyone Michelle even knows!

President Biden: And pays his fair share, that's what Anderson Cooper told me.

Hunter:  I may have left another laptop at a pawn shop in Nantucket Town.

Jill Biden: Oh, honey, again?

President Biden: If, in fact, he did, The New York Times will never run the story. That's so great!

Hunter Biden:  Just thought of something. Where's Kamala today?

Jill Biden: Your father sent her to the border to give turkeys to the three million, six hundred and thirty thousand migrants who have joined us since the inauguration!

Hunter Biden: So, that means she went to LA.

President Biden: Kamala?

Jill Biden:  Your Vice President, cupcake?

President Biden:  Yes, yes.  So enjoy, everyone.  Thanks, David.  And to all, a goodnight!

Hunter Biden: That's Christmas, dad.

President Biden: Zzzzzzz

Get Ready for President Hillary Clinton

Muhammad Ali said, "It ain't bragging if you can back it up." So, excuse me for bragging, but in my almost six years as a nationally syndicated radio and TV host, my predictions have been remarkably accurate. I'm not perfect, but I'm batting close to .990. It's the best record of anyone in the media.

Almost everything I've predicted has come true, including a stolen election based on mail-in voting without voter ID; a communist takeover of the USA based on lockdowns, COVID-19 "public safety" mandates and open borders; and President Joe Biden being a brain-dead puppet with dementia.

I was already warning on my Newsmax TV show about Biden's clearly diminished mental capacity back in 2019 and early 2020. It's all on tape.

I warned during the 2020 election that Biden and the Biden crime family are owned lock, stock and barrel by China and the Chinese Communist Party.

I also predicted that this communist takeover and purposeful destruction of America, American exceptionalism, capitalism, the American middle class and Judeo-Christian values was all designed, coordinated and carried out by a combination of former President Barack Obama, communist billionaire George Soros and the Chinese Communist Party.

This is all clearly happening right in front of our eyes.

So, I'm going to make another shocking prediction. Democrats (i.e., the party of radical, insane and hateful socialists, Marxists and communists) are getting ready to install Hillary Clinton as president of the United States.

Biden is finished. He served his useful purpose. He provided a white, experienced, grandfatherly, supposedly "moderate" face to serve at the top of the presidential ticket. The mail-in ballot fraud got the Democrats 90% of the way home in rigging and stealing the 2020 election. And Biden's "white moderate grandfather" routine did the rest: He fooled just enough clueless and naive voters in a handful of battleground states to finish the job.

But the jig is up. Biden's approval is now in the unimaginable 30% range. That means he has no one left on his side but friends, family, campaign aides, Democratic Kool-Aid drinkers, welfare addicts and migrants.

Everyone with a brain, who isn't blind, deaf or really dumb, now understands Biden is brain-dead. It's hard to miss the daily decline in Biden's ability to think and communicate. Democratic puppet masters have no choice anymore but to throw grandpa from the train.

Biden's days are numbered before he will be forced to step down after admitting he can't do the job anymore due to rapidly advancing dementia.

Biden is as good as gone. At this point, it's only a matter of when.

That would make Vice President Kamala Harris president. We all know that's not going to happen. I believe she is the most deeply flawed, despised and unpopular vice president in the history of America, and maybe in the history of the world too. Her 28% approval rating makes Biden seem popular.

Harris' problem is no one likes her. Not men, not women, not white nor black people. She is a talentless empty suit, with an evil, insane laugh, who allegedly screwed her way to the top (e.g., her involvement with married Willie Brown Jr.). Normally women support Democrats by a wide margin. Not this time. Women hate talentless women who screw their way to the top. So, Democrats have a big problem. Everyone hates Harris.

Here's my crystal ball. Democrats will demand Harris' resignation. She'll cite "personal reasons" or "family issues." Then corrupt Democrat billionaire donors will give her a $25 million mansion to retire in. You'll never hear from Harris again.

Next, they'll name Hillary Clinton vice president.

Very quickly after that, they'll start planting nonstop stories in the media claiming Biden's aides see him in dramatic mental decline. After 3 to 6 months of those stories in the media, Biden will make his touching goodbye announcement and ride off to a nursing home specializing in dementia patients. And like Harris, Jill Biden will get a $25 million mansion as incentive to shut her mouth and never be heard from again.

Just like that, Hillary Clinton is president of the United States.

I'm guessing Democrats will need a black woman as vice president to diversify the ticket and lock down every last black vote in 2024. Michelle Obama, anyone?

Don't laugh. Get ready. It's coming. Clinton/Obama in 2024.

Wanna bet?
