New Evan Ellis article: "New Directions in the deepening Chinese-Argentine Engagement"

Inbox

Dear Colleague:
With this email, I would like to share with you my new work on expanding Sino-Argentine
cooperation, just published by Global Americans.  The article documents the impressive, growing,
and multi-dimensional character of the relationship, from vaccines and other Covid-19 diplomacy
to rapidly expanding agricultural exports and agro-logstics activities, to important lithium and
other mining, petroleum, telecommunications and surveillance architectures, military law
enforcement and space collaboration.  Its detail illustrates that the prior government of Mauricio
Macri had a key role in expanding many of the commercial ties opened up by the Kirchners,
albeit in the framework of greater oversight by Argentine regulatory and judicia institutions.  The
article further highlights that the relationship being pursued by the current government of Alberto
Fernandez is of concern not because it is expanding per se, but because of questions of how,
and what is being pursued, in the context of new and seemingly deepening ideological orientation
that seems to put symbolic realignment over long-term benefits to the Argentine people.

The article is available here as a PDF file, and at Global Americans, which published it (please
copy and paste the whole link if it arrives split between two lines):

Biden has found another way to touch women:

Dear Richard,

What happens when biological male athletes compete in girls' sports? They take home the titles and the trophies.

Seeing the threat to Title IX and female athletes, federal legislation to protect fairness under the law in women’s sports is gaining support in Congress. The “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act” has been introduced in the House by Congressman Greg Steube (R-Florida) and in the Senate by Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah). To date, they have been joined by over 30 cosponsors. This important legislation would clarify for schools receiving federal funds that it would be in violation of Title IX for biological males to participate in sports designated for women or girls.

Joining advocates in support of Senate introduction, Doreen Denny, Vice President of Government Relations for CWALAC, had this to say: “Protecting fairness and equality for women and girls in sports should not be a partisan issue. It should be a cause that unites all lawmakers to stand for women’s rights and the intent and purpose of Title IX for female student-athletes. Concerned Women for America LAC is grateful for Senator Mike Lee and cosponsors of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act for being the true champions of Title IX and female athletes in today’s gender-crazed world.”

Take Action!
CWALAC sent a letter of endorsement to the bills’ sponsors, applauding them for standing with us in support of female athletes and upholding women’s equality of opportunity under federal law. It is time to encourage all members of Congress to take action and cosponsor the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. From our action center, you can contact your Members of Congress and ask them to cosponsor this legislation.

Blessings,

Penny Young Nance

We're in Trouble

The population of this country is 327 million.

76 million are retired.

That leaves 251 million to do the work.

There are 48 million people who are permanently disabled.

Which leaves 203 million to do the work

There are 74 million children younger than 6

Which leaves 129 million to do the work

There are 95.2 million children and young adults in school.

Which leaves 33.8 million to do the work.

At any given time, there are roughly 4 million people on vacation

Which leaves 29.8 million to do the work

Of this there are 15 million employed by the federal government, not including the military.

Leaving 14.8 million to do the work.

2.8 million are in the armed forces preoccupied with North Korea and the Middle East.

Which leaves 12 million to do the work.

Take from that total the 10.8 million people who work for state and city Governments.

And that leaves 1.2 million to do the work.

At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals.

Leaving 1,012,000 to do the work.

Now, there are 1,011,998 people in prisons.

That leaves just two people to do the work.

You and me.

And there you are,

Sitting,

At your computer, reading jokes.

Nice. Real nice.
