I asked a very dear friend and fellow memo reader who knows about these things like N Korea etc. His thoughts and response: " I have a feeling that NoKO may in fact fire a missile. I don't know the status of our missile defenses, but I think they may not be in the best condition. We certainly aren't going to be able to defend Guam very well. Should we be attacked, we must respond very directly ( possibly massive Polaris??). Our other "friends"( China, Russia) will be watching our response very carefully and may well take serious actions against us, if our responses don't appear to be strong enough.
On the other hand... Kim may simply be bluffing, trying to bolster his ego. Judging this NK mental case from such a distance is impossible. Sorry I can't be more specific...!
One more item: it's possible that Guam was cited as a target because that was the base from which the B-1 overflew SOKO not long ago, also it's not US homeland just a "colony", so in his view, he's not attacking the US directly. Kim would present quite a challenge to Sigmund Freund, et al.
Another thought: are the Russians and the Chinese using NoKo drive us into military action against NoKo so that they can then intervene and take retaliatory direct action against us?????"

As readers of my memos know I am not the most optimistic type. I can handle my victories. I am concerned regarding my ability to overcome my defeats. Thus, I would like to dwell, for a few sentences, on what a common language can mean and why every American citizen should be required to learn English.
I believe I am correct in saying music is another unifier in that most everyone enjoys music. if I am correct, C, on the piano, is in a worldwide location.
Language is critical if people wish to communicate and understand each other. We all know the story in the Bible about The Tower of Babel. I believe English should be spoken by every American and, though it is not, it should be our national language. I am not suggesting American citizens who came/come here from a different country should not retain and speak their native tongue but when they become citizens of this country they need to speak English and conduct all their activities , social and business, in English.
I can think of many things that are destructive and likely to harm our Republic and, at or near the top, is the fact we have allowed America to exist without establishing English as our national language.
We recently received drug information from our health insurance company and it was printed in some 10 different languages and ran some 6 pages. Talk about saving trees?
The cost to our nation, because citizens do not wish to embrace the one thing that unifies us, is ridiculous.
English should serve as the cement that binds us all and why Congress is allowed to avoid this issue is both dangerous and insane.
If we ultimately become a Spanish or Asian nation or a Muslim nation based on immigration and demographics then there may be no need for English but until that occurs English, and no other language, should be legally required.
I admire those who are muti-lingual. In our family at large we have those who speak French, Spanish, Arabic, Hebrew and some Russian and Chinese but when the family comes together we speak English.
I hope these comments leave no confusion as to where I stand and I have purposely written them in English.

I am looking for investors to finance a new cereal called "Tweet."
The product will be made of corn and will have a yellowish color and be shaped like a spear.
The market will be limited because most liberals and progressives will find this cereal not to their taste. Students, particularly those in college, will probably not eat it but could use it to throw at those whose views they cannot abide. Better yet, they could munch on it while in their safe zones challenging those of similar minds in a game of "new" chess . "New" chess is played with only black pieces, no whites are allowed.
Normally a cereal is eaten in the morning but "Tweet" can be eaten throughout the day. To some it will have a sour taste which also might repulse a segment of the cereal eating market but for those who feel abused and are constantly attacked "Tweet" is the perfect food. After taking one bite "Tweet" will end any feeling of aggrievement and will not produce a gassy feeling.
"Tweet" will be boxed in a "uge" red, white and blue container.

After the brothel burned to the ground by the lightning strike, the church folks were rather smug in their outlook, bragging about "the power of prayer.”But late last week , Jill Diamond, the owner/madam, sued the church, the preacher and the entire congregation on the grounds that the church ... "was ultimately responsible for the demise of her building and her business -- either through direct or indirect divine actions or means.”In its reply to the court, the church vehemently and vociferously denied any and all responsibility or any connection to the building's demise.The crusty old judge read through the plaintiff's complaint and the defendant's reply, and at the opening hearing he commented, "I don't know how I'm going to decide this case, but it appears from the paperwork, that we now have a brothel owner who staunchly believes in the power of prayer....and an entire church congregation that thinks otherwise.
