Two Ross Rants:

REITs vs other yield securities are still materially yield higher, but have much more risk.  REIT average yield is at 4.4% vs .66 on ten year--spread of 375, vs BAA corporates 105 BP spread, and 260 BP vs S&P dividend yields.  Hotels REIT values last week dropped 14.5% on average. Currently REITs are trading at about 88% of NAV vs normally they are at 100%. PE on average REITs is now around 18.9x AFFO vs normal 17X. These are averages and there are very different risk profiles now between REITs, so you have to be very careful which ones to invest in. Is it worth the added risk to own a REIT vs a BAA bond. Maybe the REIT will increase in value as we return to more normal times.  Personally I prefer to own strong common equities, and give up a bit of yield in exchange for long term growth.

Spreads on junk debt have come back in almost to pre-virus spreads. That is weird, but suggests that the market thinks the Fed actions will make it possible for many of these high risk companies to survive. While there are a few transactions happening now on distressed assets, the flood that many expected has not happened yet. Lenders seem to be working things out where it seems reasonable, and retail tenants are working our rent modifications.  A high percentage of commercial tenants seem to be paying, or working out a modification.  It may turn out that many landlords and tenants, whether commercial or residential, will find a way to work through this as they see the economy reviving, and a return to new normal in 2H 2021.  A lot will depend on the election. If Biden wins and the Dems take the Senate, then that all could change quickly as the prospect of high taxes and regulation, especially of lenders, becomes a major new risk.

It seems pretty clear now from Fauci and Redford and the FDA, and the drug companies, that a vaccine will be readily available to all by April, and to many before that. The issue is to convince people to take it. Unfortunately the press and the Dems are stirring fear as part of the their attacks on Trump, and that will do real damage causing too many to not take it. It is also clear that major urban offices will not go back to any sort of normal until there is widespread use of the vaccine. It is possible that some companies will require staff to be vaccinated to be able to come to the office. It is likely that places like midtown NYC will not return to substantial office occupancy until mid or late summer, and that would completely crush the hotel and restaurant business that is barely hanging on now.

Numerous of my friends in NYC tell me they are leaving as they do not see any relief for a very long time, and the city is again becoming unlivable. DeBozzo is not out of office for over a year, and so the fix cannot even begin until 2022. Cuomo has not done anything to deal with the problems, and has made it worse with his decisions on restaurants. So now we have NYC, San Fran, Portland, Chicago, Seattle LA, all becoming dangerous and unpleasant places to be, just like 30 years ago. It took years to get these cities cleaned up and good places to live. It has taken months to destroy all that progress. That is what progressive politics will do for the country.

Some Manhattan based companies are opening satellite offices in CT and NJ and will let the people who live near those places work from there permanently with maybe periodic trips into Manhattan for team connections and group interaction. The everyone in one office in Manhattan is never happening again for many companies.  The longer remote goes on now, the more guys tell me it works well, and they and their clients have gotten comfortable with remote.  It obviously depends on the specific job, but the more we all depend on internet communication and Zoom meetings, the more this becomes the norm, and so there are big implications for urban retail, and restaurants that cater to business meals. It will evolve over the next year how this all ends up, but there is real risk for NYC, San Fran and Seattle downtown office never again achieving the rents and occupancy we had in January.

The urban hotels will never be the same either as there will be less business meetings in these urban locations. The longer a surge in cases continues in the EU, the longer before the border is reopened to tourists.  The move out of San Fran and Silicon Valley is also underway. A lot of the geeks have figured out they can work remote and save a fortune by moving to Denver or Boise or TX. As the kiddies age and have a family, the bar social life in San Fran becomes less of a draw, and these other cites now have a very good and active dining and social scene, and good public schools.

The EU is now suffering a setback in its economy due to major surges in the virus in several countries, especially France and Spain. The UK is in near lockdown again. As a result the services sector has declined notably, with the services PMI at 50, which is at neutral. Manufacturing is at a 3 year high as exports have picked up substantially and retailers are restocking. The banking sector is about to enter into a major consolidation period as many of the banks simply cannot survive any  longer. The EU and UK have a long way to go to revive and it will take widespread vaccine administration to get them back on their growth curve. There is really nothing more that the ECB can do.

The US by contrast, has a strong banking system, and due to our vast geographic diversity, and what seems to be better compliance with masks, etc., is growing at 30%-35% in Q3. The surges here are very spotty, and the most impactful in CA, TX AZ and FL are declining rapidly. If NYC and CA would reopen, and if all the Dem run school systems would reopen, the US would see even much better growth. Unfortunately  the teachers unions and Dem mayors and governors are working hard to keep the economy slower until the election. The LA teachers union even said it publicly that they were not going back to work until after election day. Now we are about to have new riots and vandalism over RBG, and Breonna Taylor, and that will create new issues for shops and restaurants as people stay away from downtowns. The worse the riots get, the more voters will go for Trump. The polls show a major change that way in the past couple of weeks. A majority have had it with BLM.

It will get much worse over the next few weeks as the confirmation hearings proceed. And now the Seattle city council has overridden the mayor’s veto, and will cut 100 cops from the budget, and limit salaries of senior officers. I assume many of those cops will look to  join other police departments. Seattle is being transformed from a wonderful place into what will become unlivable. The tourist business will dry up which will cause major reductions in revenue for the city, and so the death spiral begins for another once great city.

In the Taylor case a black prosecutor held a grand jury and they made a decision. The left does not want to accept that, and has ignored the facts of the case. The cops did knock and announce themselves and the boyfriend did all open fire on the cops as they entered. What were the cops supposed to do, get killed. The truth reportedly is that she was involved with her ex-boyfriend in drug dealing, and had agreed to let him use her apartment as a stash which was why the raid, and it is all on tape from a wiretap, and why a court issued a warrant for a search. The cops did not make a mistake. The drug dealer ex-boyfriend was arrested at the same time at his apartment with drugs. She apparently had been fired from being at EMS because she was caught stealing drugs, and was not the sweet innocent that the press and rioters make her out to be. At least in Kentucky and Louisville they acted to stop the riots from getting totally out of control, and used the national guard. We cannot have street justice and inaccurate reporting which just feeds these riots. None of the media has told the full story of what happened and the truth about Breonna.

The oil business may never be the same. Demand is going to take a long time to return to where it was pre-virus, and with US fracking, there is lots of capacity to meet any demand for a long time. In addition, there is the move across the world to shift some energy production to wind and solar, and electric cars will become common in ten years. There is also a major effort by landlords of large buildings to make their properties much more energy efficient because they can save money to make it worthwhile. All these things together, plus an eventual return of Iran and Libya to production, and maybe one day, Venezuela, will make the supply side more than able to produce all that is demanded at lower cost. I am not in any way an expert in oil, but these things just seem to add up to a long term generally lower price for oil for many years than what we experienced just a short time ago. Whether that is $40 or $55, I have no idea, but getting back over $60 just does not seem realistic barring a Mideast war.

Shortly after the debate will be the time to decide what to do about the stock market. There will be the debate, Q3 GDP will be announced, maybe Durham will finally report, and the Senate report on Hunter will be pushed into the sunlight by Trump and the WSJ. It is really corrupt when you see all that was going on that can be proved, and that it was all clearly to bribe Joe.  He press is covering it up and not even mentioning the money flow between Hunter and thugs in the human trafficking and prostitution businesses, nor the check from the wife of the ex-mayor, oligarch in Moscow for $3.5 million.  Then there was brother James and his multimillion dollar contract ion Iraq. The debate will be a major data point.

Data point. A few years ago I had a small company that dealt with black pastors and churches. Last week the lead pastor with us in that company told my partner that he had 400 parishioners in his Bronx church in a poor black and Latino neighborhood. He polled them recently and 40% admitted they are voting for Trump. That means there may be more. This is all minority, and in the heart of Democratic Bronx. The reason -crime. They are now afraid to leave their house to go shopping, and unemployment is around 40% now. They believe Trump can help solve the crime problem and they want more cops. They are all against no bail. They believe you may get a break after your first arrest, but not anything after that.

These people are all in favor of tough law and order. You will never hear this on TV because it goes against the whole media narrative, but these are the real people in poor black neighborhoods. Their economic life had been improving until February with jobs and not more welfare. It may be that there is a silent majority of blacks who will vote for Trump. They will never show up in a poll. My pastor friend was driving down one of the main avenues in the Bronx last week in mid-day. Someone fired a bullet into his car. It was not aimed at him, but his granddaughter was sitting next to him could have been killed.

These people are not the ones out rioting, or demanding reimagining police. They are decent people who want to be safe, and want jobs, not more BS from the Dems. In San Fran the burglary rate has increased 42% and in one neighborhood by 100%. In Minneapolis city council is now suddenly worried that crime is out of control. In NYC on two occasions, bodies have recently been found in Central Park. This is having a direct impact on the election. Trump will get far more of the black vote than any pundit is predicting. I believe it could be over 20%, and if so, and if he gets a good portion of the Latino vote in FL TX and AZ, he wins, and McSally wins.

And:

The debate was very disappointing. Trump missed several opportunities to state clearly his results of the economy and Covid, instead he wanted to fight and came off as a bully instead of as a knowledgeable president. Chris Wallace let Biden off the hook two or three times and especially on Hunter and on packing the court. I am not sure the debate had any impact other than as Frank Lundt suggests, it turned off many voters on both sides, and they may not bother to vote at all.  In the end this will come down to get out the vote, and stop vote harvesting, and other games the Dems plan to use to pack the count in PA, MI, and WI.  Result, I have not yet made up my mind on what position I will take as to remain invested or get out.  Economic numbers will determine that to some degree and pool sin the next week.  Economic data appears to be strong, but we need to see job number Friday, and trend on jobs over the next week or two.  There supposedly has been a decline in government jobs this months which will offset private sector growth. Anecdote: since there were no foreigners allowed in this year, there are lots of jobs open in places like the Hamptons for anyone able to breathe. These are the service jobs like wait staff, landscaper etc. Employers here say the Hispanics are by far the best workers, as there are many in the Hamptons, because they have a very good work ethic as compared to American you9ngsters, many of whom have no work ethic anymore. Trump needs to do a lot better in the second and third debates if he wants to win

GDP Q3 to be announced Oct 29 will be 27%-34%. A record and that could make an election difference along with unemployment maybe down to 7.5%.

The WSJ just ran an article saying bonds beat stocks. While it is true that some bond funds are up 5.5%-5.8%, they are comparing it to purely the Dow and purely the S&P.  The Nasdaq on the other hand is up 22%. The headline misleads in that I doubt anybody has a portfolio that does not include a considerable amount invested in the Nasdaq and especially in FANG stocks. So the comparison is meaningless. I guess if you just bought Dow stocks or just the Russell, you are much worse off, but who does a stupid thing like that. I have a mix of stocks and am up 23% YTD, which I suspect is more common. I have friends who are up 40% and 50% because they owned a lot of APPL and mainly FANG stocks. These days most government and other bonds are held by the Fed, government pension funds, money market funds, private pension funds who are regulated as to allocations, and banks who need bonds for allocation of capital reasons. All of these entities have to hold these securities.

Pension funds on average are returning 3.5% on their portfolios, and they really need 8% to meet their obligations. Their problem is they were very late to the equity investment strategy, and they are still not anywhere near where they should be to achieve the returns they need. The pension fund crisis is getting much worse fast, and will blow up on most sates in the next couple of years, or sooner. With the Fed keeping rates near zero for another 3-4 years possibly, the problem can only become a severe crisis as the pension investment rules preventing them from investing much more into equities, thereby prohibiting them from earning  a needed return. They are in a death spiral and you will pay for it with higher taxes.

Good economic news.  Durable goods new orders are up for non-defense products by 1.8% in August over July. Orders means more jobs in September October, Factories are coming back well, and it is meaningful that increased production means retailers and other manufacturers are rebuilding inventories, and have end use sales to support the inventory buildup.

While the real estate market is still mostly dead for transactions, there are signs of life. There seems to be some activity in places like Queens NY, and suburban markets for office. There remains a lot of uncertainty about what office occupancy  will look like in another year, but many people in the industry feel it will be mostly back in the office for most but maybe not every day for everyone. There is clearly a need for social contact and for training and collaboration that is just not the same online. The amount of sublease space is up 22% over last year  indicating that a lot of tenants no longer plan to use as much space. There is plenty of cash to do deals, but the bid ask is still apart and it seems many owners have worked out modifications with lenders other than CMBS special servicers which is much more complex. Unlike in other recessions, there appears to be a sense thigs will get better fairly quickly, and so there is no rush to dump assets yet. The election is probably holding things back for now. If Biden wins and the Dems get control, then taxes change materially, and that will have a major impact on deals and pricing. One interesting note is that offices where the windows can be opened are likely to be more in demand than had been the case pre-Covid. That means older buildings may see more demand. It is still very early in the recovery of commercial real estate and there is still a lot of unknowns. It is likely to be Q1 2021 after the election and once there is a vaccine readily available before we see where the markets really go. If Trump wins and there is a vaccine by year end, then it is very likely there will be a material move back to in person occupancy and many more deals, but more for rescue capital than for sale. We will just have to wait to see by year end.

The virus was an unforeseen gift to many young entrepreneurs. There are all those creative kids sitting home with no job who decided to try a new idea. There were 3.5 million new corporate ID applications so far this year vs 2.7 million in 2019,  and around 1.4 million are real companies with employees. That is far more than any year in decades. They range from bike repair to baking, to apparel, to creating learning programs. This is great to see so many deciding to go and do it themselves.

The IPO market is as hot as it has been for 20 years. This time more of the companies are real, and not just some idea like Pets.com or whatever.com. Then there are the SPACS. These are shell companies that raise a few hundred million and then commit to acquire a real company. Why anyone invests in these shells is beyond me. You are investing in BS and hope they can find something to buy on good terms. I far prefer to find a real company I can analyze before I put my money in, and I know what I am getting. 40% of IPOs’ are SPACs.  This is not going to be a good outcome one day. The mispricing of IPOs and the mispricing of the after market is nuts. Just take Snowflake. It shot way up after the IPO then came down again. It is all nuts. The Robinhood kids are running up these stocks and then back down. This speculation is nonsense, it is not investing. It will end badly. Don’t get sucked in, or if you do get a chance to buy at the IPO get out quick unless it is a truly strong company.  A direct listing where insiders are selling, and the company gets no proceeds, is also not my idea of a sound investment.  Many direct investment deals have not proven out. I prefer to be a patient investor.

The numbers are now coming in. States that fully locked down and remained locked like NY, NJ, CY, CA had lower earnings for their people than states that were less locked down for less time. Those states that shut down construction projects had notably lower earnings than states like FL that never or only partially shut it down  It is also the case that the blue shut down states received much more per capita of federal subsidies (your tax money) to cover unemployment and other needs than states that did not fully shut down like FL. So that is why McConnell is saying no to much more state aid. U of Chicago has determined that 76% of the unemployed earned more being unemployed with the $600, than if they worked, therefor they were in no rush to go back. So now the Dems having learned from this are insisting on  reinstituting the $600. The median enhancement to income was 145%.of wage earnings. That is why unemployment was not recovering faster until the end of July.

CA has now required only electric cars as of 2035.  Here are the issues. The electric gid in CA is, and will be, unable to meet the charging needs, especially at night when solar is inoperable. Batteries might fill some gap by then, but the grid cannot meet the needs now, and to build the wind and solar and battery capacity by 2035 is not going to happen unless CA changes all of its environmental regulations for building a power plant. It can take three years just to get a simple residential project started from first conception, so imagine a power plant. That is just to get regulatory approval in CA. Then to build it and get it online. Lawsuits will slow power plant construction further. Battery tech is key, but there is a very long way to go to get high capacity batteries at low cost to hold energy charges for cars, and then to get people to buy them for their home garage.  It all sounds nice and clean until you dig into cost and infrastructure, and then sell them and hook them up. Experts admit it does not work to have everyone return home from work as the sun goes down, and plug in their chargers all at once. Likely they will require every office building to install chargers, and maybe retail parking lots. If every home needs a charger, who pays for and installs them. Then there is a problem, the power company needs many new substations and distribution power lines, in residential areas to provide the power to all those chargers. Who pays for all this, and how long does it take for power companies to get it all done. This is why it is always better to let free market forces bring change, and not government politically driven demands.

Lastly there is the issue of what energy use it takes to build out all these wind farms and solar panels. A Lot. What do we do to obtain all the lithium for all those batteries. Mining in places that the environmentalists will not be happy with. All those big trucks and equipment to dig out from mines and transport it to factories. Factories to build them run big machines that use a lot of energy.  Then where do they dispose of used solar panels and windmills, and lithium batteries.  A power plant lasts for decades. These other things get replaced in 20 years or less. Maybe it is far better to find ways to filter the exhaust from a fossil power plant run on gas than to build all those windmills, lithium batteries, and solar panels. Maybe disposing of all those lithium batteries becomes like disposing of the nuclear waste at some point. I am not a scientist, but someone who does understand these things needs to do an objective, scientific cost benefit analysis. Clearly there are big issues since only 3% of energy is now produced by wind and solar, and only with big government subsidies which run up the fiscal debt problem. Clean energy sounds great until you dig in and realize there is a huge cost. One other issue is that poor people still need a car, and the price of used gas powered cars will be driven higher as they become more scarce. That means CA will need billions to cover subsidies for poor people to buy electric cars. If electric is so great, then the free market will drive people to buy them, not government mandate. It never works well when the government tells consumers what they have to buy.

The Dems are going to have a very hard time attacking Judge Barrett without looking nasty and out of line.  She is a nice person with a family of school kids. She even has two black kids who she adopted. Nobody  is going to try to claim she did something egregious  when younger. So all they have is her religion, and if they attack that again they lose a lot of the middle class and Midwest and south. If they try to pin her down on Roe she will say she can’t give any opinion without hearing a specific case. There is really nothing they can go after without looking political and nasty. Harris will try, and it will just make people disgusted with her after her disgraceful attack on Kavanaugh. She will look even worse attacking a mother of seven kids with a sterling legal record. No matter which side of abortion you are on, she is an eminent scholar, and a very well respected judge. The Dems can lose the election if the really try to go after Barrett, which they will. Feinstein is 87 years old and gets confused easily, so Harris will be the point person to attack. Barrett will chew her up. She is everything middle America believes in. Super smart, very accomplished, a mother of a biracial family, juggling a family and an important job, a great judge, and a religious person. I am more convinced Trump wins after seeing and hearing Barrett when she was introduced.

It is clear the economy is doing generally very well, with some areas doing great, and some doing terrible. What is interesting is that as much as Biden tries to blame Trump for high unemployment, I don’t’ think many workers blame him for the situation. This is not some complex Wall St induced recession. It is plain to everyone this is a worldwide pandemic and Trump did not cause people to lose their jobs. Once they see the September numbers, and GDP for Q3, it will be hard for Biden to make the economy case. It is clear the US is doing far better than the EU in the recovery. Even though the teachers unions have sacrificed the kids to their effort to keep unemployment high by keeping schools closed, I suspect most people blame the mayors for not letting schools reopen since Trump keeps saying open the schools. Wages are rising, there are 6 million unfilled jobs, and lots of large and small companies are hiring. This will ramp up as October unfolds.

It appears that the Durham report will not be released before the election so it does not appear political. That is a shame.  The voters need to know what happened. Senator Johnson also repeated today that the Hunter Biden story is being suppressed by the media because it would kill Joe’s election chances. Mike Wallace let him off the hook on that last night. He said there is a massive effort in the deep state to deny his committee information and to cover up for Joe. If Trump is reelected all of it will come out. If not Durham will release his report, and then it will die along with the Johnson Senate report and the massive corruption will be buried. It does appear that Graham is going to be releasing a lot of information along with Johnson as a result of Ratcliffe declassifying a lot of material.  It is also now clear Hilary was the genesis of the whole Russia collusion effort and Brennan was deeply in the middle of it all starting back in mid- 2016. That was why she paid for the dossier. Durham is likely taking longer because now he has evidence of this and is going after the foundation and Hilary and Brennan.  Someone talked it appears.

The Chairman of Wells Fargo said they could not find enough blacks who were qualified for the job openings available to meet their minority hiring quota. Of course he was attacked as not looking hard enough. I believe he was truthful, and that is because there are not a lot of blacks taking business classes, and getting good enough grades. There are also blacks who got through college on affirmative action and maybe got a job after, but who do not have the skills needed for banking. I believe the chairman spoke the truth and there needs to be more blacks who take business classes and score well, and it is not a case of Wells Fargo not looking hard enough. Just because someone gets accepted to college on affirmative action and manages to graduate, does not therefore make them sufficiently qualified for the job openings at places like a bank. Now there will be huge pressure on Wells to hire blacks qualified or not.

If you wonder what is really happening these days with young people, watch The Social Dilemma on Netflix. It is a must watch. It will scare you more than anything. It is a documentary with top experts who are former top execs from major Silicon Valley companies explaining how the AI algorithms have already gotten control of our lives. It explains why the young people think and act as they do, and it will help you understand how Russia, China and Iran are working at manipulating the election. It may be that we have passed the point of no return and the AI computers are in charge now. If you think that is an outlandish statement of a nut, watch the film. It is why Silicon Valley needs regulation.

If Mexico can do it why can't we?  Will Mexico survive while we go down the drain?

THIS IS REALITY IN MEXICO - - -

What we should have.  The Mexicans are smarter than our politicians, but then that is no surprise.

Voter registration cards with photo and fingerprint with hologram to prevent forgery is the law in Mexico.

*New Mexican Immigration Laws*

Be sure to read to the bottom or you will miss the message...

1. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools.

2. All ballots will be in this nation's language.

3. All government business will be conducted in our language.

4. Non-residents will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long they are here.

5. Non-citizens will NEVER be able to hold political office.

6. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, or any other government assistance programs . Any who are a burden will be deported.

7. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount at least equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.

8. If foreigners come here and buy land, their options will be restricted. Certain parcels including waterfront property are reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.

9. Foreigners may have NO protests; NO demonstrations, NO waving of a foreign flag, NO political organizing, NO bad-mouthing our president or his policies. These will lead to deportation.

10. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be actively hunted and, when caught, sent to jail until your deportation can be arranged. All assets will be taken from you.

Too strict? The above laws are the current immigration laws of MEXICO!

If it's good for Americans to obey Mexican laws, then it's good vice versa!!!

"The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living."

Pa. Turns More Red But Will It Be Enough?
By Salena Zito

“Party affiliation and the emotional connection that goes along with it is complex. It is more than just a name. It is a decision you likely discussed with your parents over the dinner table when you were 18 or that was passed down through your family’s life experiences. It is often rooted in place, profession, or a grandparent.

The direction any party takes is always at the risk of shedding people who are unwilling to go along for the ride. For many establishment Republicans, Trump was a bridge too far, and they went toward the Democrats. For Democrats like Sheriff Custer, the longtime leftward veer of the party lost them a while ago.”

Bye Bye America and The Birdies:  Democrats will take care of America and The Green's Wind Mills will take care of the birdies:

The 2020 Democratic Party Platform is now posted on the internet. It's an all-encompassing and mind-boggling 92 pages telling how a DNC House, Senate, and President would run the United States.

It clearly states exactly how the DNC proposes to handle every problem faced by America and it's allies and foes. Including:

*Universal healthcare and Medicaid for all Americans and illegal aliens. (Pg 61)

*$15 minimum wage

*Immediate citizenship for illegals (Pg 63)

*Free college (Pg 65)

*Forgiveness of student loans (Pg 71)

*Eliminate border walls and Immigration Enforcement (Pg 62, 64 & 65)

The first debate analysis:

This was done by Rick Shoemaker:

I urge everyone to watch the debate again.  There appeared to be so much back and forth that I couldn't really recall, much of what either candidate said.  I decided to watch it again, dissect it and approach it in a factual manner.  Much like watching a movie, the first time you are caught up in the theatrics of things and you miss details.  So today, I focused on details.  I timed every single word for each candidate.  How long did they speak, how many times did they interrupt one another, etc.

Here are my findings. I have also included an unbiased fact check that has been peer reviewed and fact checked against many different articles and sources.

First; how much time did each candidate get to speak?

TRUMP had a total of 24 minutes and 9 seconds.

BIDEN had a total of 33 minutes and 4 seconds.

During this debate, each candidate and even the moderator interrupted the others substantially TRUMP interrupted Biden 64 times

 BIDEN interrupted Trump 57 times

5 minutes and 35 seconds total of both Candidates talking over each other or back and forth which I labeled as overlapping.  These minutes were not added to either candidates talking minutes total with my analysis.

Moderator CHRIS WALLACE

Interrupted Trump 21 times

Biden 5 times

Both Candidates were asked questions regarding condoning/condemning hate groups

TRUMP was asked if her would condemn white supremacists groups.  Trump said "yea sure, I'm willing to do that" Chris Wallace asked again and Trump asked what group would you like me to say?  Biden then retorted Proud Boys.  Trump then said "Proud Boys Stand down and Stand By"

BIDEN was asked if he supported BLM, he did not answer nor did he even recognize the question about BLM

BIDEN brought up his son and said that Trump called him a loser and his son was a hero who received a "Brown Star" Trump responded by asking which son,  he stated he didn't know Beau but did know about Hunter and his dishonorable discharge as well as receiving 3.5M from Moscow. There is no such thing as a "Brown Star".  There is a Bronze Star, which is given for heroic acts.

Beau Biden was presented with a Bronze Star for his service in 2008.Trump's camp has denied the report from The Atlantic that said Trump called dead WW1 soldiers losers.  Those present that day all deny hearing Trump say that, including Trump’s nemesis John Bolton.

87 page Senate Report shows wire transfers to Hunter Biden from Elena Baturina, wife of former mayor of Moscow.  Those transfers included 3.5 million in Feb. 2014.  As well as "several payments of several hundred thousand dollars" in 2015.

Biden also claimed that the US owes more money to China now than when Trump took office.  US debt is roughly 26 Trillion dollars, of that Japan owns 5.2% and China owns 4.6%. Other countries also own substantial US debt including but not limited to the UK, Brazil, Ireland, the Cayman Islands, Hong Kong, Belgium and Switzerland.

In Oct 2016, China owns 1.12 Trillion of US debt.

As of Aug 2020, China owns 1.07 Trillion of US debt.

BIDEN claimed that Antifa is "an idea not an organization.”

Antifa first had roots in Germany in the 20s/30s. The movement came to the US in the 70s/80s and gained notoriety and was more prominent in the last 10 years. While it started as an Anti Fascist movement,  they have since became organized and have many cell groups such as Rose City Antifa out of Portland.  Many of the cells claim organization status and receive many donations as well as tax deductions.

I went through and documented the insults

TRUMP told Biden "There's nothing smart about you,” as a retort to Biden telling Trump to be smarter.

TRUMP also criticized Biden on rally attendance stating "If you could get the crowds, you would have done the same thing."

TRUMP criticized Biden on wearing masks, saying, "Every time you see him, he's wearing a mask, He could be speaking 200 feet away from it, and he shows up with the biggest mask I’ve ever seen.”

BIDEN called Trump Racist

BIDEN called Trump a clown twice

BIDEN called Trump a liar

BIDEN referred to the President as "Donald", "Old Buddy ", "This Man", and “Putin's Puppy" on several occasions.

BIDEN told Trump that he was the “wrong guy, wrong night, wrong time.

BIDEN told Trump to "Keep yapping man."

BIDEN asked Trump "Will you shut up man?"

Those are the unbiased Facts of the 1st Presidental Debate.

Until next week's debate ...

The Electoral College has to go so Democrats can stay in power forever:

319 Square Miles DEFINITELY EXPLAINS WHY THE DEMOCRATS WANT TO GET RID OF ELECTORAL COLLEGE!

This is a great reminder. Those men were awfully Smart in the 1700s. -

319 Square Miles

It will take you approximately 39 seconds to read this.

The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives introduced a bill to eliminate the electoral college. It seems that, since they couldn't win the last presidential election under the rules that have existed for almost 250 years, they want to change the rules. Below is an excellent explanation of why this is a very bad idea.

In their infinite wisdom, the United States' Founders created the Electoral College to ensure the States were fairly represented. Why should one or two densely populated areas speak for the whole of the nation?

The following list of statistics has been making the rounds on the Internet It should finally put an end to the argument as to why the Electoral College makes sense. Please share this. It needs to be widely known and understood.

There are 3,141 counties in the United States.

- Trump won 3,084 of them.

- Clinton won 57.

There are 62 counties in New York State

- Trump won 46 of them.

- Clinton won 16

Clinton won the popular vote by approximately 1.5 million votes.

- In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump (Trump won Richmond, Clinton won the other 4 of these

counties)

Therefore these 5 counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the entire country.

These 5 counties comprise only 319 square miles. The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles. When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to suggest that the vote of those who inhabit a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election.

Large, densely populated Democrat cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc.) DO NOT and SHOULD NOT speak for all of the rest of our country! And it has been verified and documented that those 319 square miles foment the majority of our nation's problems.

Ordman - Good News Israel:

Israeli innovations and activities are bearing fruit. Medical treatments, technologies and medics are saving lives, warning of life-threatening conditions and helping to bring new life into the world. Relations between Israel and the UAE are flourishing. Israel is bringing its agricultural expertise to Nepal and to the United Nations. Israeli technology is making life much safer for medical workers and air travellers, more secure for computer users, less stressful for those in isolation and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. And to celebrate the festival of the ingathering, Israel gathers more historical links to its past and welcomes more who wish to be part of its future.

I wish a very joyful Simchat Torah to all those who celebrate it.

Best regards
Michael

Arabs archaeologists relocate ancient mikveh. A 2000-year-old mikveh (ritual bath) found in the Galilee (reported here previously) has been successfully excavated and transported to the religious Kibbutz Hanaton. The directors of the excavation were Abed Ibrahim and Dr. Walid Atrash of the Israel Antiquities Authority:

Sent to me by a long time friend, my former Atlanta urologist and now a fellow memo reader:

I know something about this because my father was engaged in a fascinating law suit involving an airplane crash carrying  Viet Namese orphans aboard  hired by a Catholic Organization to fly them out of the country.  The legal issue involved who was the recipient of the funds paid by the airline's negligence in not properly shutting the cargo door? Heirs of the orphans?  The charitable organization?  Me

Mr. Biden is, indeed, a special kind of phony!

Earlier this week, I finished reading Donald Rumsfeld’s wonderful biography of Gerald Ford, titled ”When the Center Held.”  It was written in 2018.  The book clearly articulates that President Ford was a thoroughly good man, a special American, and a greatly underrated President.  HOWEVER, there was a story in the book that was startling.

In 1975, President Ford was left to manage the difficult ending of the Vietnam War.  As North Vietnam seized on the opportunity to test American resolve following President Nixon’s resignation, President Ford went to Congress to ask for a relief package to push back on the North Vietnamese to allow American personnel and our allies to evacuate.  However, there was one US Senator who opposed any such support .  The result was the embarrassing and hurried evacuation from the roof of the American embassy in Saigon.  This senator reviled in the embarrassment and did everything he could to leverage it politically against Ford.

Despite the efforts of this U.S. Senator--President Ford managed to rescue 1,500 South Vietnamese allies prior to the country’s fall.  Had President Ford not acted quickly, these people would have been targeted and slaughtered for their support for America. Saving them was a moral obligation.

When they arrived in America, President Ford asked Congress for a package to assist these refugees integrate into American society.  But that troublesome US Senator showed up again and torpedoed any support for these shell shocked refugees .  Instead, President Ford had to recruit Christian organizations to offer assistance on a voluntary basis.  As he did so, the aforementioned Senator belittled those efforts.

What kind of person would oppose President Ford’s tireless work to do the right and humanitarian thing?  Who would want to play politics with the well-being of innocent people who stood by America in the tragic Vietnam War?

That US Senator?  Joe Biden.

Donald Trump isn't a saint and I've had my issues with him.  But the gushing and revisionist history over Joe Biden and his record is nauseating.

I seldom comment on another religion when it comes to their policies but this was sent to me by a dear friend, a devoted Catholic and a fellow memo reader.  He and I are having lunch together tomorrow.  It is a shame that this Pope seems to have lost his moorings. and the tragic issue regarding priestly behaviour cannot be dismissed.

The real reason for Pope Francis's disgraceful Pompeo snub

Damian Thompson  October 3, 2020

Why did Pope Francis refuse to meet Secretary Pompeo in Rome this week?

The obvious answer is that he didn't want to confront the diabolical consequences of renewing the Vatican's 2018 deal with the Chinese Communist party. These go beyond the harassment of loyal Chinese Catholics who now find themselves forced by the Pope to recognize party stooges as their own bishops. We've never seen the text of the Vatican-Beijing pact, and we won't be informed about the terms of its renewal, but it's clear that somehow President Xi has also secured Francis's silence on China's genocidal campaign against the Uighurs.

Pompeo is beside himself with rage that the leader of a Church that condemns voluntary abortions chooses to say nothing about the the forced variety to which Uighur women are subjected by Han Chinese determined to 'breed out' these Untermenschen from the population. But, as Pompeo pointed out in a speech at a Vatican symposium this week, China's assault on religious freedom is all-encompassing:

'The Chinese Communist party has battered every religious community in China: Protestant house churches, Tibetan Buddhists, Falun Gong devotees, and more. Nor, of course, have Catholics been spared this wave of repression: Catholic churches and shrines have been desecrated and destroyed... Authorities order residents to replace pictures of Jesus with those of Chairman Mao and those of General Secretary Xi Jinping. All of these believers are the heirs of those Pope John Paul celebrated in his speech to the UN, those who had "taken the risk of freedom, asking to be given a place in social, political, and economic life which is commensurate with their dignity as free human beings".'

Pope Francis's moral compass is so skewed that we don't know whether he realizes that he's torn up John Paul's legacy; my guess is that he doesn't care. But clearly he didn't want to be told face to face about a wave of religious persecution that bears comparison with those of Hitler, Stalin and that new saint of the Chinese 'Catholic' Church, Chairman Mao. He refuses to hear about it from one of his own cardinals, the heroic Joseph Zen, former Archbishop of Hong Kong, so naturally he wasn't going to open his doors to the foreign minister of the country he most despises, the United States.

But there is another factor: the American presidential election.

Francis is desperate to see the back of Trump. The Vatican spent a lot of money back in 2016 trying to secure the election of Hillary Clinton. Now it is effectively bankrupt, which is why it's so keen to refresh its relationship with a dictatorship with money to burn. Refusing to meet Pompeo at least deprives the Trump administration of photo opportunity.

Would the Pope really think in such petty terms when the fate of millions of religious believers hangs in the balance?

Vox, in a cack-handed attempt to defend the papal snub, has answered that question for us. It reports that Archbishop Paul Gallagher, the left-wing Liverpudlian who serves as the Vatican's secretary for relations with state, told an Italian news agency on Wednesday that Francis didn't want to help Trump's reelection efforts and 'that is precisely why the Pope will not meet American secretary of state Mike Pompeo'.

Let that sink in.

The 'Vicar of Christ' snubbed Pompeo not just because the latter was planning to inform him about the living hell endured by the Chinese faithful, but also because he's trying to thwart the reelection of a president who, whatever his faults, has done more to defend international religious freedom than any of his predecessors.

I can't find printable words to describe the disgust that evokes in me, so let me turn instead to the shortest verse in the entire Bible. John, chapter 11, verse 35: 'Jesus wept.'
