Progressive Reporter Torches Ketanji Brown Jackson's First Amendment Remarks

By Matt Vespa

He’s not a conservative, but he consistently supports free speech and civil liberties. At times, that’s led to some controversial positions, especially concerning Edward Snowden, but Glenn Greenwald doesn’t toe the party line. If that upsets the Left, the side he mostly aligns with, so be it. He’s doing his independent reporting from Brazil anyway.

While maybe not so much in line with conservatives on the issue of Snowden’s leaks, Greenwald has been expertly shredding the Left’s narrative concerning the Russian collusion hoax and the January 6 riot. While not blind to media bias, it has reached absurd levels since Trump to the point where you think he’s a conservative concerning his posts torching the press’ credibility.

Like many who support First Amendment rights, Greenwald was jarred by Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s unreal remarks concerning the First Amendment. In short, it appears the liberal jurist doesn’t seem to know its purpose: yes, by design, this part of the Bill of Rights prevents the government from censoring speech. Katie wrote about Brown’s position during oral arguments for Murthy v. Missouri:

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments today in Murthy v. Missouri. At the center of the case is the federal government's coercing of social media companies to take down stories and content bureaucrats deemed "misinformation" during the COVID-19 pandemic. This type of censorship was repeatedly touted by the Biden White House.

Glenn Greenwald further dissected Brown’s remarks, even thanking her for not leaving a shred of doubt concerning where she stands on this issue:

"She believes... the free speech guarantee is an impediment to the government being able to to do things it needs to do...

I appreciate Justice Brown Jackson for being as explicit as she is. She's speaking for American liberals here and she's saying, 'We can't allow free speech anymore. It's too dangerous.'

That's what's at the heart of this case. That's what is at the heart of the Biden administration's behavior.

It's at the heart of all these laws that countries throughout the democratic world are enacting to control the internet—that they believe free speech is no longer a luxury that we can afford because... disinformation is something that is too dangerous to permit."

So, yes, Greenwald is brutal on this matter, but as the IDF prepares to invade Rafah, it’s best to realize and accept he’s not with us on that one.

Israel Better Get a Move On

For months, I’ve kind of marveled at the Biden administration’s continued material and logistical support for the Israeli effort to extirpate Hamas in Gaza—not least because its people from top to bottom seemed to be almost tortured by the fact that they were doing it.

That’s why, on a podcast last week, I suggested there was something almost Balaam-like in Joe Biden’s behavior—Balaam being a Gentile prophet in the Hebrew Bible. He has  supernatural powers and is paid by the king of Moab to curse the Jews. Instead, Balaam finds himself praising the Jews because God puts those words of praise in his mouth. What else but supernatural intercession could explain Biden finding himself, in the middle of an effort to condemn Benjamin Netanyahu, saying to MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart that the only reason Hamas could really want a ceasefire would be to regroup?

And how, in declaring that Israel should not go into the final Hamas redoubt in Rafah, could he add, “It is a red line but I’m never going to leave Israel. The defense of Israel is still critical, so there’s no red line I’m going to cut off all weapons so they don’t have the Iron Dome to protect them.”

My time of marveling is almost at an end. Today, Netanyahu informed his fellow Israelis that Biden had told him Israel should not enter Rafah, and that the Israeli PM told the American president there was no alternative. “We have a disagreement with the Americans about the need to enter Rafah,” Netanyahu reported to the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee of the Knesset. “I made it clear to the president in our conversation, in the clearest way, that we are determined to complete the elimination of these battalions in Rafah. There is no way to do it except by going in on the ground.”

Stuff is going to happen now, over the next week. Negotiations over hostages are going to heat up. American officials (Secretary of State Blinken primary among them) are traveling to talk ceasefire. An Israeli delegation headed by Bibi intimate Ron Dermer will go to DC to be briefed on some magical American plan to win with war without having to, you know, actually win the war.

This cannot hold. Israel has to go into Rafah. America is now saying flatly Israel should not go into Rafah. What this says to me is this:

Israel is going to go into Rafah, at which point Biden will cease being Balaam and he will go flat-out negative. He will say America had a plan and Israel refused to take it up. He will say Israel has chosen to endanger Palestinian lives. He will say he was more patient and more supportive than any American president has ever been (which is true), but that enough is enough and he’s had it and Israel is doing wrong.

I do not believe that I’m in any position to give military guidance to the Israelis, and they would be stupid to take it if I did. But if Israel has the means and the ability and the plan at hand to do what it needs to do in Rafah to win this war, it should do so as soon as it is possible to do it. This dynamic with the Biden administration cannot get better, and Israel would be better off establishing facts on the ground and showing progress in the destruction of the final pieces of Hamas’s terror infrastructure than it would be if its continuing inaction simply accelerates speculation that it can maybe be talked out of finishing what it was forced to start after October 7.

The world should be on trial in Jerusalem, or should it be Nuremberg?

And Hamas terrorists, starting with their leader Yahya Sinwar, are not the only ones who should be on trial in Jerusalem and before history. Op-ed.

By Phyllis Chesler

(JNS) After Israel defeats Hamas in Gaza, should it try the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorists Eichmann-style in Jerusalem?

Or might such a trial be seen as more “impartial” and more fitting if it were held in Nuremberg?

Those who believe that the Germans are more suitable than the Israelis are deluded. Perhaps they did not live through or study the Holocaust. Likely, they were not even born in 1972 when Palestinian Arab terrorists massacred 11 Israeli Olympic athletes in Munich with the support of neo-Nazi Germans. The murders were enabled by the extraordinary incompetence of the German police.

The only place a fair and trustworthy trial of Hamas could take place is Jerusalem.

According to one prominent international lawyer:

“There’s no existing framework for trials against Hamas terrorists or the Hamas terrorist organization in Nuremberg (the closest would be trials with German prosecutors and under German law, which will never happen). There’s no way I can see any agreement for a new tribunal and, in any event, I wouldn’t have great confidence in any such tribunal judging Palestinian terrorists or even being willing to put them on trial. I would like to see fair trials of Hamas terrorists; the only chance of that is in Israel, and even in Israel, there’s a danger it would be too forgiving to the terrorists (depends on the court).”

But we face an even greater problem:

Hamas terrorists, starting with their leader Yahya Sinwar, are not the only ones who should be on trial in Jerusalem and before history.

With a few blessed exceptions, almost the entire world must be judged for supporting Iran and Qatar’s proxy armies: Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, etc.

-The United Nations belongs on trial. The only thing it has ever done is legalize Jew-hatred. They passed a resolution falsely claiming that Zionism is racism rather than a resolution that accurately stated that anti-Zionism is racism.

-The world professoriate, students, human rights activists and media also belong on trial for having incited the immediate and continuing jackal chorus for a “ceasefire,” which is the equivalent of a call to ethnically cleanse the Holy Land of Jews. Some of them have been on the Iranian and Arab oil payroll for more than 60 years.

-Iran’s leaders must also appear in the dock. The mullahs have indoctrinated, funded and strategized with not only Hamas but also the zombie armies who march for jihad in the West.

-Let’s not forget every single Muslim country that has refused to offer safe passage or temporary shelter to Gaza civilians. They also belong on trial. None of them want the Arab Palestinians. They do not want the enormous trouble they will inevitably bring with them.

Please note: Such countries, by refusing entry to civilians, make no distinction between the “innocent” civilians of Gaza and the terrorists whose ideology and torture control them.

A prominent Arab anti-Islamist recently told me: “Egypt let them in and found themselves awash in their own blood. Jordan had to expel them for the same reason. Lebanon? Destroyed by them, weakened so much that Hezbollah just took Lebanon over.”

“So, the Palestinians remain a Jewish burden only, is that it?” I asked.

“Yes,” he said.

I replied, “Only Israel is expected to feed, house, and keep Gazans safe from their own leaders. Did the Allies feed and protect civilians in Nazi Germany during the war? If not, why is Israel and Israel alone expected to do so?”

The trial must take place in Jerusalem.

Eichmann’s trial gave voice to our six million slaughtered and to those who survived and could bear witness. The world could no longer deny the Holocaust or refuse to understand it—at least for a time. Eventually, Holocaust denial crept back in and is flourishing today.

On Oct. 7 itself, the denial of the Hamas massacre began and continues to this day. Only a trial can dim this tide of unreason.

Israel has the footage and the forensic evidence to make its case. Survivors, as well as witnesses, are plentiful. The indifferent, otherwise occupied or Jew-hating world must be confronted with what they have done. May evidence, fact, truth and justice prevail and may its consequences keep Jews safe—at least for a time

Preparing to say goodbye... a message from Clint Eastwood

My Twilight Years at 90.  If you realize each day is a gift, you may be near my age.  As I enjoy my twilight years, I am often struck by the inevitability that the party must end.

There will come a clear, cold morning when there isn't any "more." No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat. It seems to me that one of the  important things to do before that morning comes is to let every one of your family and friends know that you care for them by finding simple ways to let them know your heartfelt beliefs and the guiding principles of your life so they can always say, "He was my friend, and I know where he stood.”

"So, just in case I'm gone tomorrow, please know this:  I voted against, Biden, that incompetent, lying, flip-flopping, insincere, double-talking, radical socialist, terrorist excusing, bleeding heart, narcissistic, scientific and economic moron that spent eight years in the White House with Obama trying to destroy our wonderful country and turn it into Muslim loving, socialist crap hole like Obama came from and I don't mean Hawaii! Participating in a gun buy-back program because you think criminals have too many guns is like having yourself castrated because you think your neighbors have too many kids.”

Regards,

Clint
