Netanyahu Thanks Min. Smotrich for Apologizing for Misspeaking During His Grief of Emotion Since Arabs Are Repeatedly Murdering Jews

(MARCH 5, 2023 / ISRAEL NATIONAL NEWS) Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday night responded to Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s clarification of his comments calling to “wipe out” the Arab village of Huwara.

“It is important for all of us to work to tone down the rhetoric and lower the temperature. That includes speaking out forcefully against inappropriate statements and even correcting our own statements when we misspeak or when our words are taken out of context,” said Netanyahu.

“That is why I want to thank Minister Bezalel Smotrich for making clear that his choice of words regarding the vigilante attacks on Huwara following the murder of the Yaniv brothers was inappropriate and that he is strongly opposed to intentionally harming innocent civilians,” continued Netanyahu.

“While Minister Smotrich clarified his position, I am still waiting to hear a condemnation from the Palestinian Authority for the murder of the Yaniv brothers. And Israel is waiting for the international community to insist that the PA condemn that attack,” he added.

“Not only has it not done so, it continues to turn a blind eye to the PA’s rampant incitement, to the disgusting spectacle of Palestinians handing out sweets to celebrate terror attacks against Jews and to the official PA pay-to-slay policy, in which the PA pays terrorists to murder Jews.”

“The international community’s silence in the face of Palestinian support for terrorism must finally come to an end,” concluded Netanyahu.

Netanyahu’s Hebrew tweet also indirectly mentioned U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Tom Nides, who, according to a Channel 12 News report on Friday, said of Smotrich, "He has a flight to Washington, and if I could, I would throw him off the plane."

"None of us are without mistakes, including foreign diplomats," Netanyahu wrote in the Hebrew version of the tweet.

And:

Judicial reform compromise ‘closer than ever,’ says Herzog

March 6, 2023

“There are agreements behind the scenes on most things,” says the Israeli president, referring to likelihood of compromise on judicial reform.

By Lauren Marcus, World Israel News

President Isaac Herzog said on Monday that he was optimistic about the possibility that the current Israeli government headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the opposition parties could agree to a compromise on the contentious issue of judicial reform.

“We are closer than ever to the possibility of an agreed outline,” Herzog said during an emergency meeting with some 100 local politicians, which he hosted at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem.

“There are agreements behind the scenes on most things,” he added. “Now it depends on our national leadership, the coalition and opposition, who will manage to rise to this great moment, who will understand the situation and the terrible alternative behind the door, and who will put the state and its citizens above everything.”

Notably, Opposition leader and Yesh Atid chair Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz, who is head of the National Unity party, have repeatedly said they will refuse to engage in negotiations until the coalition agrees to freeze all legislation for at least two months.

In a tweet directed at the coalition, Lapid demanded that they “anounce an immediate halt to the legislation,” adding that in exchange, “we will sit to discuss the outline that [Herzog] is preparing.”

Meeting without demanding preconditions from the coalition, Gantz said last week, would be akin to negotiating “with a gun to our heads.”

Justice Minister Yariv Levin and Constitution, Law and Justice Committee chairman Simcha Rothman have said they are willing to discuss potential changes to the legislation with the opposition. But their political rivals have steadfastly refused to enter formal discussion on judicial reform matters without a promise that the pair would stop all pending legislation while talks take place.

On Thursday, the second nationwide “Day of Disruption” is scheduled to take place. Last week, demonstrators blocked major highways and thoroughfares, surrounded the homes of MKs, and rallied outside of the Knesset to express their opposition to the potential reforms.

PRESIDENT'S CORNER

States Choose Our President, Not Big Cities

It's no secret why progressives are pushing the national popular vote. It's an obvious end run around our constitutional system of electing presidents via votes by states.

One of our most precious checks and balances, the Electoral College system, ensures citizens in all states are fairly represented by the executive branch. I encourage you to read to what our partners at Save Our States have to say on the matter here.

The Politics of Confrontation

Constitutional conservatives, and Christians, must stop believing that confrontation with socialists and Marxists is unavoidable. That is what the left seeks, desires, and thrives upon. Leftists ride around with bumper stickers asserting “coexistence” when they truly desire dominance, dominion, power, and control . . . by any means necessary. Too often, conservatives enter the battlefield of this ideological conflagration believing there can be some kind of “middle ground.”  I would assert that is not achievable

Second Amendment Call to Action

Greetings to everyone from Washington, DC, and Capitol Hill where I have had the humble honor to return. It was truly a blessing to come back and step onto the floor of the US House of Representatives and see former colleagues, and the new batch of constitutional conservative fighters.

My specific mission was to meet, primarily, with members of the House Second Amendment Caucus and discuss several critical pieces of legislation for legal, law-abiding gun owners. If you missed it, I put out a little video summary from outside the doors of the office from whence I represented the people of Florida’s 22nd Congressional district.

I believe a modest reverse trend is beginning to assert itself. Comic Rock and Barr are speaking out again, CRT is meeting resistance. Parental Rights are being presented and other events are occurring to suggest resistance to radical Democrat nonsense is beginning to re-appear. Extremism, as the 2024 election begins to rise on the horizon is throwing some cold water on the heat generated by the insane far left. The turtle has begun retracting his neck somewhat.

How far this carries depends on whether the GOP has the guts to be creatively assertive, craft a message deplorables and rational voters will embrace, become motivated to tune into and consider taking seriously how far America has slipped from it's basic values and drifted off course from our moorings..

A more positive attitude/outlook will also result in a backdrop more opportunistic for the market. Thus, any possible better news would receive a better reception.  Psychology is what drives pricing. After all, it is our freedom that allows for such to happen and we are way overdue for a change in attitude.  We have allowed the Trojan Horses to go too far/ beyond reason.

That said, General Keane believes China has made significant technological and military leaps forward in surpassing America and moving towards it's goal of replacing America's dominance as a major power and not just through theft.

For sure Xi is far more goal driven and competent than Biden.

Worst of all, a major American metropolis is trapped in currently debating social issues, ie. compensating blacks in California for reparations by a government that is already in a huge deficit.  Those who had little to do, by reason of participation, are having the past Albatross hung around their neck. More illegal affirmative nonsense.

Black citizens would do well to quit killing each other, reject a drug lifestyle, get an education and embrace behaviour patterns that will rebuild their self worth. They need to reject the pap progressives have sold them to keep them loyal voters at the expense of their loss of opportunities to join society as full productive participants.

Finally:

We could use Trump's ability to think outside the political realm, his aggressive and innovativeness without the personality garbage but he cannot separate the two and the mass media would go back to beating him up on a daily basis and thus, deprive us of his talent as they once did.

He became or was turned into a tragic magnet.. He will be remembered as a creative president who failed because he could not control his brash New York  personality.  How sad indeed.

The Republicans have a host of true talent in their ranks.  The question is whether they are smart enough to tactically not attack each other in the weeding out process. I truly like the soberness of Pompeo but he should stick around and return to The State Department.  He is intelligent, accomplished, but too serious and we are not ready for seriousness.

De Santis has been a magnificent Governor, is rational and extremely talented but  Democrats, with their media friends, will do everything they can to beat him up because he threatens them. Haley would be different because she is a woman and from Indian parentage and was a good governor but I suspect she is a better speech giver than presidential material. The Senator from Florida appears clear minded when it comes to China as is Sen. Cruz who is very intelligent and there are a host of qualified dark horses.

As for Democrats, they have worn tread types like Newsom and confused flip floppers like Manchin and of course the two current clowns.

How the foreign landscape scene impacts 2024 remains to be seen but local issues always are shaped by foreign events which impact the presidential picture.

How and whether we can isolate China is critical. They are a threat to world peace and stability but may be too powerful and the west too fractured even in the face of the peril the Red Tiger poses. Then there is Iran and, of course, Ukraine's continued bleeding of NATO by an unstable Russia. With India the west has the numbers and probably the ability but remains politically fractured and not welded together.

Time will tell.

My latest memo expressing my six thoughts has produced a lot of comment and concurrent  agreement. This from one of my dearest, long time friends and continued admirers.

Dear Dick,

The more you write the more I pay attention.  I always like your views and comments.  (I like your copied postings and links too, but am selective of the ones I read and sometimes skim instead of peruse.)

Per Commonwealth Fusion, I only wish my angeling could accommodate $100,000 minimum appetites.  As is, blame Charlie!  ;-)  (That's a joke.  There is no blame with honesty, and Charlie, as you know, is a straight up player.)

Miss you, my friend, but pleased to keep up with your blog and to read of all your connections with family.  How blessed is that in our old age?  I am troubled by your declining health and just pleased your brain is as feisty as ever.  Can't tell you how well put I think is your current posting on the state of the union today (and other postings of late).  As always, I agree with you 100%.   Btw, I finished the Pompeo book.  Nothing I write about it would be anything you don't know since you've already read the book; nevertheless, attached if you're interested is my book note on the Pompeo book.

Gigi and I are planning (not yet booked) our late summer week (prob ~ end Sept) in Hilton Head.  Always like seeing you if it suits.  In the meantime, let us know if ever you'd like to visit in Atlanta (Smyrna).

With best regards,

America Once Knew How to Build Infrastructure

By Mark Penn and Andrew Stein

The sad reality is that the country will be lucky if any new bridges, tunnels or major roads get built. The numbers are huge: $110 billion for roads and bridges, $66 billion for Amtrak, $39 billion for public transit, $25 billion for airports. But watch where that money actually gets allocated in the next few years. So far most of it has gone entirely to renovation, not innovation. Environmental rules, endless delays, inflation, work rules and politics all play a role in ensuring that lots of pockets get lined but few new projects move forward.

On Jan. 31, President Biden visited New York to announce $300 million in federal money toward a replacement rail tunnel under the Hudson River—one phase of a larger renovation that will cost an estimated $30 billion and be completed in another 12 years. By contrast, the original Lincoln Tunnel was built in less than four years in the 1930s and cost $1.6 billion in today’s dollars.

Despite advances in engineering, building methods and computers, one rail tunnel repair now costs 20 times what a brand-new tunnel cost a century ago and takes three times as long, if it ever happens. Construction timelines are measured in decades rather than years. Had the projects of the New Deal been done this way, they would have stretched into World War II and beyond

There’s no indication the new infrastructure package will put efficiency over politics and change the dysfunctional status quo. What should be vital investments in America’s future are going to be treated as political ping-pong balls. Most of the money will likely be frittered away on make-work projects, paving and repaving old roads. How many new highway dividers does America really need? Or shopping malls in airports?

The permitting process is broken. Environmental-impact studies are a racket, delaying projects for as long as five years over insignificant issues. Costs are increasing because of endless litigation and inflation. Contracting and labor rules have become so burdensome that no private enterprise could operate under them.

Look at America’s trains. California’s dream of a high-speed rail line connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco continues to languish. The original contractor pulled out in 2011 because of political dysfunction, decamping for Morocco, where it built a bullet train that started operating in 2018. For decades New York’s Penn Station renovation was stalled by multiple parties—the U.S. Postal Service didn’t want to give up its building for the expansion, and Madison Square Garden’s owner refused to budge, to name a few spoilsports. One bright spot is the opening of a train in Florida connecting Miami to Palm Beach and soon to Orlando. But it was built by a private-equity firm, not government, a throwback to the days when private companies built major bridges.

America desperately needs new infrastructure. Train freight left on old tracks can become increasingly dangerous, as the derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, demonstrates. We may not need post offices anymore, but we will need a new electrical grid, upgraded ports, safer airports and better tunnels and bridges—especially as we embark upon a new era of self-driven vehicles.

If we just keep throwing money at infrastructure without giving priority to efficiency, we will get highway dividers that cost $50,000 a foot but no more of the awe-inspiring bridges, roads and tunnels that once defined American innovation.

Mr. Penn was a pollster and adviser to Bill and Hillary Clinton, 1995-2008. He is chairman of the Harris Poll and CEO of Stagwell Inc. Mr. Stein, a Democrat, served as New York City Council president, 1986-94.

Reports in Syria: Iranian targets attacked at Aleppo airport

Media outlets report explosions near airport in Aleppo as a result of air strike blamed on Israel. Targets belonging to Iranian militias believed to have been attacked.

Air strike in Syria

Media outlets in Syria reported overnight Monday that explosions were heard in the vicinity of the military airport in the city of Aleppo, as a result of an air strike which was attributed to Israel.

According to the reports, several targets belonging to Iranian militias at the airport were attacked.

It was also reported that Syria’s air defense systems were activated against the missiles which were fired, according to estimates, from the Mediterranean Sea. A military official said that the airport was shut down due to damage to the runway.

No injuries were reported in the air strike.

In mid-February, Syrian media reported a missile attack on the capital Damascus, which was blamed on Israel.

Some reports said the airs trike targeted a warehouse of Iranian arms that were on their way to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon.

Sources said there were fatalities in the attack but there were conflicting reports as to the number. While Syria's Health Ministry said three people were killed and five were injured, other reports said the death toll was as high as 13 or 15.

Syria said many residential buildings in Damascus and the city's countryside were damaged. Syria later urged the United Nations to take necessary measures to deter Israel's attacks and hold it accountable.

In January, a convoy of 25 trucks crossing the border from Iraq to Syria was attacked from the air. According to reports, the convoy which was attacked belongs to a pro-Iranian militia and it is very possible that it carried weapons.

Richard,

Wokeness is a new secular religion that says your identity is based on your race and sexuality. This is destroying America in front of our eyes.

I'm on a mission to stop it. I wrote two bestselling books and started a new company to take on wokeness on Wall Street, but we must do more and address the real problem: we are going through a national identity crisis.

I'm Vivek Ramaswamy, and I launched my campaign for President of the United States to deliver an answer to the most important question of our time: what it means to be an American. Today I am asking YOU to be a part of our movement.
