The Simple Presidency Revisited. Kerry's Speech, Trump and Putin and Who Said ISIS Is A JV Team?Suck It Up Sniveling Wimps!

The thoughts from a very dear Atlanta neighborhood friend and recent fellow memo reader. "Dick,

I have been thinking of you a lot these past couple of weeks. As you, I was appalled at the actions of our soon to be former president. I have been tempted to write a few times but chose to wait until I better discerned what I wanted to say. I was just watching a program and the light went off.

I have long thought Mr. Obama was a coward. His action with the UN and several of his subsequent transgressions confirmed those thoughts. While watching the program, one of the characters stated "like all bullies, you are a coward". That was the link. That sums up Barack Obama.

If the recent major actions against Israel, the lands in Utah, the potential oil areas in the seas, the Russians, etc done in the last 30 days of his administration were a good thing, if they would lead to justice, a better world, peace, the best thing for our country, then why didn't he do them years ago? I believe the answer is that like all bullies, he was scared to do them on "fair terms". Rather, he is getting in his "sucker punches" as he is walking out the door and does not have to deal with the maelstrom after effect. And it gets more insidious, he appears to be doing everything in his power to make life as difficult as possible for the Trump administration. He has also lied once again. He stated that he wanted a smooth transition and then turns around and does things that undermine any possibility of that smoothness from occurring.

I know you must be beyond the breaking point and I feel for you. These are just my personal thoughts that I wanted to share with you. My wish is that you have a Happy New Year knowing that that may not start until January 20th.

Peace my friend,
D--

My response:  "D--, how very thoughtful of you. At the very least it earns you another invite to Savannah.  (You know you are always welcome.)

I agree that Obama is a bully and , though you did not link his cowardliness  to his Muslim sympathies, I do.

That said, he will be gone soon but the tragedy of his 8 years will remain and impact Trump and all Americans for years to come.

The ball is now in Trump's court and, as with all successor presidents they are limited, to some degree and/or impacted by the actions, failures and successes of their predecessors.

I believe Trump has put together an interesting crew and I believe he will row through the muck Obama created but it will be more difficult, like the lily paddies in N Viet Nam.  Time will tell. Thanks for
your decency and thoughtfulness.  Me "

As the New Year begins, it is time to remind us what a simple presidency we once had and what a pair of great shoes filled the office and sat behind the desk where the "buck stopped." I posted this once before.

If you have never been to Warm Springs,Georgia near Callaway Gardens, to see Roosevelt's cottage and "Little White House," I urge you do so.  FDR's "home" away from "home" reflected simplicity as well.  We now have an Imperial Presidency and the last occupier certainly knew how to live in style and make it regal. His 8 years of vacations, alone, have cost tax payers some estimated $100 million.

I even remember when Nixon dressed White House personnel in uniforms and that lasted all of a week. (See 1 below.)

I also remember Obama told Republicans: "Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won."

Ironic, now that the Democrats have lost they cannot understand/embrace what Obama meant by his arrogant and demeaning comment.

My message: Happy New Year and suck it up you sniveling wimps!

And

Now take 15 important minutes and learn what Millennials are all about. (See 1a below.)

It is evident to me, and many others, Kerry's speech blew up in his face.  The abject bias of the U.N and Kerry's attempt to lie about it being "nothing new" was more than most decent people could/were willing to  swallow.

I do not believe, like Obama,Trump is going to rush Pell Mell into seeking a solution to the Palestinian-Israeli issue.  I do believe he might cut American allocations to the U.N and maybe to the Palestinians and let them stew for a while and observe the effect.

A very wise member of my family believes Trump is going to side up to Putin and try and arrange a detente with them and the Chinese for the purpose of going after ISIS and eventually getting the recent U.N resolution against Israel overturned by getting them to abstain. We shall see.

Meanwhile, all the "wags" who are worried about Trump's naivety regarding Putin are, in my opinion, barking up the wrong tree. I believe Trump is correct when it comes to making an effort to rebuild some comity between Russia and ourselves because Russia, geographically. belongs in the Western orbit and if we can drive a wedge between them and China that would be a good thing.  Time will tell whether it can be accomplished.

I believe the mass media and anti-Trump crowd are trying to use Trump's comments about Putin to raise issues about his lack of experience in foreign affairs as if the geniuses in Obama's State Department have been so accomplished at resetting buttons, losing the Crimea, Syria etc..

No doubt, Putin is a KGB thug and I believe Trump understands all of that.

Reports suggest Putin thinks Trump is a piece of cotton just waiting to be picked and flattery is the way to undo him because of his "uge" ego.. We shall see. I just do not believe Trump is that big a sucker and he has surrounded himself with those who certainly are clear eyed.

I am always suspicious of those who demean Trump because he has outsmarted all who sought to bring him down.  Yes, he has made some dumb mistakes but, so far, he has always righted the ship. Obama just kept taking on more water. Who said ISIS was a JV Team? Trump or Obama? (See 3 below.)

Until I see otherwise, I believe the Trump haters are blinded by bias.

This is a classic example of a "uge" pot calling the kettle black.  Considering the source I am not surprised but it is the kind of remark that can induce another nut case to act. (See 3a below.)

Menachem Begin was a very dear friend of Lynn's Israeli side of the  family.  Her great, great Uncle ,Avram Appel, was one of Begin's closest allies in the Ergun and helped form the Likud Party that Netanyahu leads and Avram even helped train Bibi for office.

I also know from my experience with Bush '41, Begin drove  both Bush and his Sec.of State crazy.   Begin's family perished in The Holocaust. He was fearless and tough but a great leader.

This video suggests how Begin might have responded to Kerry as he did to the German Chancellor:

1)  ABOUT HARRY
We will never see this again.
http://www.history.com/images/media/slideshow/harry-s-truman/harry-s-truman-retirement.jpg

Thought you'd enjoy this!
It's one you want your Children and Grandchildren to read.
They won't believe this happened, but it DID.

Harry & Bess
(This seems unreal.)

Harry Truman was a different kind of President. He probably made as many, or more important decisions regarding our nation's history as any of the other 42 Presidents preceding him. However, a measure of his greatness may rest on what he did after he left the White House.

The only asset he had when he died was the house he lived in, which was in Independence Missouri. His wife had inherited the house from her mother and father and other than their years in the White House, they lived their entire lives there.

When he retired from office in 1952 his income was a U.S. Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an 'allowance' and, later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year.

After President Eisenhower was inaugurated, Harry and Bess drove home to Missouri by themselves. There was no Secret Service following them.

When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, "You don't want me. You want the office of the President, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale."

Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing, "I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise."

As president he paid for all of his own travel expenses and food.

Modern politicians have found a new level of success in cashing in on the Presidency, resulting in untold wealth. Today, many in Congress also have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices are now for sale.

Good old Harry Truman was correct when he observed, "My choices in life were either to be a piano player in a whore house or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference!

I say dig him up and clone him!

2) After 8 Years It’s Clear=> Obama’s Economic Policies Cannot Hold Up to Reaganomics

Obama’s just like Reagan… Except that he isn’t.

Ronald Reagan brought forth an annual real GDP growth of 3.5%.
Barack Obama will be lucky to average a 1.55% GDP growth rate.
This ranks Obama as the fourth worst presidency on record.
Barack Obama will be the only U.S. president in history who did not deliver a single year of 3.0%+ economic growth.
Obama will be lucky to average 2% growth in his final year in office.
According to Louis Woodhill, if the economy continues to perform below 2.67% GDP growth rate this year, President Barack Obama will leave office with the fourth worst economic record in US history.
Assuming 2.67% RGDP growth for 2016, Obama will leave office having produced an average of 1.55% growth. This would place his presidency fourth from the bottom of the list of 39*, above only those of Herbert Hoover (-5.65%), Andrew Johnson (-0.70%) and Theodore Roosevelt (1.41%)
And as far as job growth Barack Obama has been a complete failure — despite what he says.
Barack Obama likes to boast about creating jobs and the liberal media establishment lets him get away with it but here is the truth —
Obama’s purported job creation has not kept up with population growth according to DC Whispers.

obamajobsgrowth

Contrast that to the Ronald Reagan years when job creation greatly outpaced population growth.
Then there’s this…
94% of new jobs during the Obama years were part-time jobs.
During the Reagan years those who wanted to work could work. The GDP and job growth was strong.
Obama’s big government socialist policies have been a complete disaster and Americans know it — no matter what Obama says.

Malaysia counter-terror chief says Islamic State will grow unless its ideology is confronted

By Robert Spencer

“In my opinion, as long as the spread of the Salafi Jihadi ideology is not stopped decisively by all parties, then the threat of IS and other terror groups with the same ideology will not dissipate. In fact it will grow further.”
Indeed.
“He also warned of so-called ‘religious experts’ who depicted the terrorist group’s actions as justified.”
But what if the group’s actions are indeed justified in Islamic law? That, too, needs to be confronted.
“Ayob Khan: Curbing spread of ‘Jihadi’ ideology critical to stopping IS threat,” Malay Mail Online, January 1, 2017:
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 1 — The threat of Islamic State will continue to grow if the spread of the “Salafi Jihadi” ideology is not curbed, said the chief of Bukit Aman’s Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division.
DCP Datuk Ayob Khan said all parties must play their part, especially government departments, institutions of higher learning, mosques and NGOs, by vetting those invited to speak on issues relating to terrorism, especially Salafi Jihadi ideology issues.
“In my opinion, as long as the spread of the Salafi Jihadi ideology is not stopped decisively by all parties, then the threat of IS and other terror groups with the same ideology will not dissipate. In fact it will grow further,” he told The Sunday Star in an interview.
He also warned of so-called “religious experts” who depicted the terrorist group’s actions as justified.
“For example, when members of the audience such as college and university students ask whether it is warranted for Muslims to join IS, these experts will often say that if Muslims are being oppressed then it is a must for other Muslims to give assistance.
“Such answers clearly shows that this person promoted and encouraged Malaysians to follow the false ideology of the IS and fight in Syria despite that there being a fatwa (by the National Fatwa Council and international religious scholars) that clearly prohibits Muslim Malaysians from joining IS in Syria,” he said….

3a)Rosie O'Donnell: Trump is 'Mentally Unstable'

Rosie O'Donnell just called Donald Trump "mentally unstable," which is not shocking given their history, but she followed up with a remark/threat that is alarming.

Rosie tweeted, "LESS THAN 3 WEEKS TO STOP HIM AMERICA."  She doesn't explain what she means, but you'll recall the heat Trump took during the campaign when he told a gun group, "If she gets to pick her judges nothing you can do folks, although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is" ... lots of people viewed that as a veiled call to action. Rosie just did the same thing.

Your move, Prez elect.
