Dick wrote this booklet because he believes a strong country must rest on a solid family unit and that Brokaw's "Greatest Generation" has morphed into "A Confused, Dependent and Compromised Generation."
He hopes this booklet will provide a guide to alter this trend.
You can now order a .pdf version from www.brokerberko.com/book that you can download and read on your computer, or print out if you want. Cost is $5.99
In several weeks the book will be available in soft cover format at a cost of $10.99.

Testimonials:
Dick, I read your book this weekend. I hardly know where to start. You did an excellent job of putting into one short book a compendium of the virtues which only a relatively short time ago all Americans believed. It’s a measure of how far we have fallen that many Americans, perhaps a majority of Americans, no longer believe in what we once considered truisms. I think your father would have agreed with every word, but the party he supported no longer has such beliefs.
I would like to buy multiple copies of your booklet..
You did a great job. I know your parents would have been proud and that your family today is proud.
Mike
You wrote a great book. The brevity is one of its strong points and I know it was hard to include that in and still keep it brief. Your father in haste once wrote an overly long letter to our client, then said in the last sentence, “I’m sorry I wrote such a long letter, but I didn’t have time to write a short one.”
"Dick, I indeed marvel at how much wisdom you have been able to share with so few words. Not too unlike the experience in reading the Bible. I feel that with each read of "A Conservative Capitalist Offers:…." one will gain additional knowledge and new insights…
Regards, Larry"

Why The Obama bubble has not burst? (See 1 below.)
Concentrating of getting people employed: "
A dear friend asked if I would post the resume of her son who is seeking to leave the State of California and seek employment elsewhere.
I told her I would be happy to post her son's resume and would send it to some friends who might have need of his talent.
I do not use this memo generally for such purposes, in fact this is the first time, but in view of Obama's success in getting people re-employed I thought it would do no harm and my friend's son is obviously both talented and responsible.
I have been authorized to inform you that you may forward this as well. (See 2 below.)
While I am at it went to see the new Clint Eastwood movie with Amy Adams about a baseball scout aging and going blind and his relationship with his daughter.
He remains an American Icon and you can better understand his brilliant empty chair idea which has proven all the critics wrong. Clint has greater insight than all the media and press wagon drivers!
The great unmasking is yet ahead. Ah, but do facts mean anything? (See 3 and 3a below.)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------1)Why the Obama Bubble Still Hasn’t Burst
Can there be political bubbles like financial bubbles?
Financial bubbles, inflated by hopes and dreams, burst when reality negates any possibility that those hopes and dreams will be realized. At that point, sky high stock or bond or real estate prices come crashing down to earth.
Can the same thing happen in politics? Can a skilled politician, who has become popular with soaring rhetoric and promises, deflate when it starts becoming clear that he is not going to deliver?
Of course, I am thinking about our president.
Mitt Romney demonstrated in the first presidential debate that the considerable gap between President Obama’s rhetoric and his performance makes him a vulnerable candidate.
Yet, the president’s bubble is far from bursting.
Romney, in the debate, was aggressive but deferential toward Obama. He was deferential because, despite the poor state of the country after almost four years of the Obama administration, Barack Obama is still a popular president.
Recent polling shows his approval remains around 50 percent. At similar stages in the presidencies of the last two presidents voted out after one term, George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter, their popularity ratings were in the thirties.
What accounts for Barack Obama’s Teflon? How is it that, after almost four years of terrible economic results – high unemployment, sluggish growth, huge deficits and mounting national debt – that Obama’s persona is not more tarnished?
Shouldn’t today’s economic facts on the ground be sufficient to puncture the Obama bubble?
One part of the answer to this puzzle is the changing demographics of the country.
The United States today is a nation that is much less white, much less married, and less traditional than it once was. These are growing trends and each reflects in at least some large part constituencies with values supportive of Obama’s world view - activist government and moral relativism.
What was once the exception to the rule in America – not being white, not being married, not having traditional views on family, sex, and abortion – is now becoming the rule. And these constituencies are becoming sufficiently large to elect a president.
National Journal released a poll right before the debate showing Obama and Romney dead even nationwide – 47 percent each – among likely voters.
The poll shows Obama’s white support at just 38 percent.
Obama was elected in 2008 with 43 percent of the white vote. It appears that he could be re-elected with even less.
In Gallup’s polling of last week, Obama’s approval among white voters stood at 39 percent.
He gets 38 percent approval among those who attend church weekly compared to 55 percent among those who attend church seldom or never.
And his approval among married voters is 40 percent compared to 57 percent among those not married.
According to data compiled by the Tax Foundation, the large majority of those now filing tax returns in the U.S. are single. In 1960, 65 percent of all tax filers were married and 35 percent single. In 2010 it’s reversed - 61 percent of filers were single and 39 percent married.
When Barack Obama pushes for taxing the rich, he’s not just pitting those with the highest incomes against everyone else. He’s pitting married against singles. Eight of ten tax filers in the top twenty percent of earners are married. The majority of middle income and below filers are single.
It’s really a cultural divide, one you can be sure that Barack Obama is very aware of, that is keeping his bubble inflated.
The fact that Obama’s support is still this strong despite his terrible record sends a clear warning to those looking for a new birth of American freedom.
Romney and Ryan should consider taking these constituencies on directly – blacks, Hispanics, singles – explaining why America’s future hinges on shutting down the government plantation.

3)Obama's Rough Road Ahead
By Bruce Walker
The October 3 debate ought to have been Obama's easiest to win. Although the economy is in ghastly shape, Obama's Marxist-lite rhetoric panders to the envy and greed of millions of Americans. The Democrat campaign bet heavily upon painting Romney as a rich investor with rich pals who has no idea how ordinary Americans live. Blaming misery on the successful has been the Democrat playbook since FDR (despite the fact that FDR, JFK, Al Gore, and John Kerry were and are all multi-millionaires).
Polls suggested that this ploy was working again. It is not. The debate showed just how indefensible the left, as the malefactor of great government wealth (to put a twist of Teddy Roosevelt's famous slogan), really is to ordinary people. While there were reasons to hope that Romney could outperform Obama in this first debate -- Romney is much smarter than Obama; Romney has actually faced fighting opponents in many campaigns; and the promises of Obama in 2008 have failed so badly -- what Romney did was actually expose the emptiness and hopelessness of the left's economic program.
If nothing else, the buzz about how poorly Obama performed last Wednesday will interest viewers who might not have otherwise turned in to future debates. The solid Romney performance will enthuse Republicans and dishearten Democrats. The Democrat ticket could turn things around in the remaining three debates -- but, in fact, things will get progressively worse for Obama.
Consider what will happen on October 11. Joe Biden, the 69-year-old gaffe-prone politician, whose benefit to Democrats has been that he makes Obama look smart, will face off against the very smart, very fit 42-year-old Paul Ryan. Romney set the tone: Republicans will defend our positions on issues like entitlements. Ryan is the man who can run circles around a hack like Biden.
Ryan has not only youth, intelligence, and ideas on his side; Ryan and Romney both have won campaigns in which most of the voters were Democrats and independents. Biden has no clue how to appeal to anything but the Democrat base. Moreover, Ryan exudes confidence and optimism. He is as close to Reagan as Republicans have had in the last quarter-century. What does Biden exude? Shopworn clichés and smugness.
On October 18, Romney and Obama will face questions from undecided voters selected by Gallup in a town hall-style debate. Although this might seem a mine field, it actually is the perfect time for Romney to outdo Obama in the single area in which Obama has continued to do well in the polls: likeability.
Both will get hostile questions during the town hall. While Obama is notoriously thin-skinned, Romney has consistently over the last 18 years in politics been polite, calm, and controlled. If Romney simply comes out of this debate as likeable as Obama, he wins. If Obama snaps at some citizen-questioner or seems disengaged, then Romney wins big.
The last debate on October 22 will be on foreign policy. There is a myth that presidents succeed politically when foreign policy and national security is a shambles. Elections show otherwise. In 1918, Democrats paid heavily for Wilson bringing America into a world war. In 1942, less than a year after the "rally 'round the flag" Pearl Harbor sentiment, Republicans made huge gains in both houses of Congress.
Korea was a principal reason why Democrats lost in 1952, and Vietnam was a big reason why Democrats lost both 1966 and 1968. Although Carter was probably a goner in 1980, the ineptness of his handling of the Americans held hostage in Iran was the final nail in his political coffin. Bush was hurt by our long wars in West Asia in 2006, and Obama won, in part, because of that in 2008.
Moreover, Obama has opened himself up by egotistically portraying himself as an expert on foreign policy, while Romney has been presented as someone who cannot be trusted with national security. The natural modesty of Romney and the natural arrogance of Obama will blend into a perfect storm working in Republicans' favor.
In no area of his presidency has Obama been more conspicuously incompetent as in foreign relations. There are so many areas in which Obama could get zinged that it is hard to predict which will hurt the most. The murder of our Libyan ambassador, with abusive treatment of an American filmmaker as a notional culprit? The creeping certainty that Iran will become a nuclear power? The slandering of the Polish people with his "death camps" comment? What is strikingly clear is that there is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- good that has come to America in the world because of Obama.
The first debate was very bad for Obama. The coming debates will be catastrophic.
President Obama had a terrible debate last week. Supporters and opponents were shocked that he could be so off his game. They shouldn't have been. That they were indicates that they don't understand Obama's serious, likely insurmountable re-election problem.
Obama supporters and detractors expect the old Obama to show better form in the next debate. But that is not going to happen! It cannot, because Obama's critical problem is not correctable.
Obama's Real Problem
The media seemed more surprised by Obama's performance than Romney's. It was Romney who was the surprise and exposed Obama's Achilles heel. Daniel Henninger observed (my emphasis added):
... no one expected or predicted that Barack Obama could be so pushed off his game or look so flustered in a contest of articulating ideas.
Obama's problem, to put it politely, is his looseness with facts. He is the quintessential "sound-bite" president. Truth for him is whatever he chooses it to be, whatever is necessary to turn things in his favor. His self-aggrandizement and arrogance, coupled with a hero-worshiping media, has enabled him to such an extent that it is possible that he no longer believes there is truth other than what he wants it to be. That is his problem, and it has been reinforced for most of his life.
Obama created his own fantasy bubble. He began by inventing history in two so-called autobiographies. Challenging anything in his self-created Alice in Wonderland world brought automatic charges of racism and other attacks from his defenders. After years of living in his bubble, one wonders whether Mr. Obama even knows objectivity or truth. This psychopathology was reinforced by admirers to the extent that Obama has made it a key tool in his political arsenal.
Until last week, it barely mattered. No one called him on it. Then Mr. Romney jumped into Obama's bubble, bursting it in front of millions of viewers. Obama was run over by a blizzard of facts, few of which he even tried to counter. Romney's buzzsaw approach was respectful but relentless. All Obama could offer were empty campaign slogans and other platitudes.
Slogans and false claims may work with Kool Aid imbibers. Non-worshipers, however, are capable of differentiating between hard data and BS. The head-to-head conversation between these two candidates was not filtered through the media. It was devastating for Mr. Obama.
Opinions and judgments were changed and formed during this debate. Obama was not a beneficiary of this flux. For viewers with any objectivity, in order to believe Obama, you had to resort to a variant of Groucho Marx's sensory question: "Do you believe what you just heard or what the media is telling you?"
The debate was a debacle for the president. He was reduced to the empty chair used as a prop by Clint Eastwood. His body language and his style can be improved, but not his facts. Reality is what it is and not what he claims or wants it to be. Obama is unable to stand up to a principled, respectful, prepared opponent wielding facts and truth. Romney's courage and performancewere impressive, but they could not have been successful without the truth on his side.
Truth may be suppressed for a while, but it ultimately breaks out. Two former presidents observed its importance in the role of governance:
A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people. -John F. Kennedy
I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts. -Abraham Lincoln
John McCain was correct regarding President Obama being better-prepared for the next debate. He will have improved energy and cosmetics. These improvements will matter little. The next debate will be just as devastating.
Imagery no longer cuts it for Obama. He needs to improve his facts, but they speak for themselves, and Romney will make sure they do. The facts are devastating to Obama. He cannot distort them when someone confronts him. Mr. Romney lives by facts -- a practice necessary to be successful in business. He will come to the next debate with at least as many as he exhibited in the last one. If he brings the temperament of a golden retriever and the instincts of a pit bull, Obama may not show up for the third debate.
To understand how hopeless President Obama's case is, one need only understand economic conditions. Romney does, and he has the skills to communicate these issues. Obama cannot deal with the facts, as they all go against him. That is his problem, and it is insurmountable so long as Romney counters his false claims.
DirectorBlue puts Obama's problem into perspective with a devastating comment and chart:
As Investors Business Daily puts it, President Obama's case for reelection rests on five economic claims, every single one of which is false. Every. Single. One.
So long as Romney sticks with these basic facts, Obama is helpless. The next debate is "town hall style." It may provide a bit more protection for the Liar-in-Chief, depending upon the ground rules. That remains to be seen.
In a one-on-one conversation, Obama is toast! Even with a teleprompter, the facts destroy him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------4)Israeli air, tanks pound Gaza after massive Palestinian barrage. Hamas, Jihad threaten to broaden attacks
Israeli warplanes, self-propelled artillery and short-range missiles attacked Hamas and Jihad Islami positions and command posts in the Gaza Strip early Monday, Oct. 8, shortly after Palestinians loosed a barrage of 55 missiles and mortar shells on the Eshkol district. Both terrorist organizations claimed they were responsible for the barrage, which caused no casualties only heavy damage to property. Israelis living within range of the Gaza Strip are warned to stay 15 seconds away from protected shelters.
Casualties from the Israeli reprisal are reported in the Gaza Strip.
Casualties from the Israeli reprisal are reported in the Gaza Strip.
Israel’s response was major because for the first time the two dominant organizations in Gaza, the radical Hamas and Iran-sponsored Jihad Islami, assumed responsibility for avenging an an Israeli attack on radical Salafist terrorists affiliated with al Qaeda. This attests to the comprehensive ties of operational collaboration forged between the diverse terrorist organizations fighting Israel from the Gaza Strip.
Sunday, Oct. 7, a targeted Israeli air strike critically injured two motorcyclists, members of al Qaeda-linked groups in the Rafah district of southern Gaza. Palestinian sources reported 11 people injured including five children.
Israel also suspects that the pilotless helicopter sent by Iran to breach Israeli air space Saturday, Oct. 6, which flew in from the Mediterranean over the Gaza Strip, was jointly orchestrated by Tehran, Hizballah and Hamas as part of a war exercise Hamas conducted in the Gaza Strip on that day.
Abu Obeida, commander of the Hamas military arm Ezz e-din al-Qassam responded to the Israeli assault with a warning: “The resistance” would not permit “Israeli aggression” continue, he said, and went on to laud Hamas’ partnership with Jihad Islami and the high level of operational cooperation between the various parts of the movement. Any more Israeli attacks, he warned, would bring forth an even more powerful and extensive Palestinian reprisal.
Military and intelligence sources report Hamas draws its bravado from the military protocols its leaders secretly signed with Hizballah Sept. 13 under the Iranian aegis, which obliges signatory to come to the aid of the other when it is attacked. Jihad Islami, Iran’s Palestinian surrogate in the Gaza Strip comes under this umbrella too. The signing was first disclosed on this page on Sept. 23. Confirming this, JIhad Islami spokesmen have just threatened that the next round of attacks on Israel will come from Lebanon.

A HISTORICAL REMINDERGeneral Vo Nguyen Giap.General Giap was a brilliant, highly respected leaderof the North Vietnam military. The following quoteis from his memoirs currently found in the Vietnamwar memorial in Hanoi:'What we still don't understand is why you Americansstopped the bombing of Hanoi . You had us on theropes. If you had pressed us a little harder, just foranother day or two, we were ready to surrender! It was the same at the battle of TET. You defeated us!We knew it, and we thought you knew it.But we were elated to notice your media washelping us. They were causing more disruption inAmerica than we could in the battlefields. Wewere ready to surrender. You had won!'General Giap has published his memoirs and confirmedwhat most Americans knew. The Vietnam war was notlost in Vietnam---it was lost at home. The same slippery slope, sponsored by the U.S. media, is currently underway. It exposes the enormous power of a biased media tocut out the heart and will of the American public. If you lived through the time of 'Nam you will recognize the truthof this thought:Do not fear the enemy,
for they can take only your life.
Fear the media, for they will distort your grasp of reality and destroy your honor.Pay close attention to the major networks’coverage of this presidential campaign.
