I am reading a fascinating book which is particularly relevant at this time in our own current history. There is so much that is analogous because the author takes us through the wealth made from Opium, the corruption of government officials, the rise of Japan , the Japanese invaion of Hong Kong and Shanghai and what happened to two of the great families: The Kadoories and the Sassoons.
What we are witnessing is very dangerous because what is going on is how fascism takes hold. Our republic has lasted for 240 plus years but in less than three weeks matters have reached a fever point that can leave it in shambles. Events that have led to the loss of free speech and other aspects of freedom, enumerated in our Bill of Rights, are under attack.
Those seeking to impeach Trump are disregarding the impact their questionable behaviour is having and is based more on hatred than sound legal claims and/or reasoning.
There is no criminal evidence of incitement. It is a rush to judgement. One thing Bill Clinton can do to redeem his image would be to advice his Party to back off and seek a censure if they wish but stop the Impeachment nonsense.
Pelosi, Schumer, and their kind are laying the foundation for their party's future defeat because, when emotions are driving events, they can change swiftly, as they surely will and is so evident.
Biden also has subtlety sought to add logs to inflame notwithstanding he professes he wants to heal. (See below.)
