Democrats Embrace Abortion Issue As Their Campaign Fodder. Time To Review Immigration Policies? Good News Israel. And More.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I have come to embellish Carlin with admiration.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Out of all the dangerous issues facing America apparently this is of most concern to Democrats - abortion!

Look What Democrats Claim Is Their Most Important Issue For 2022...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I recognize and accept the fact that America is a melting pot of many peoples, from many areas and many cultures. This has worked remarkably well and, most likely, been an additional reason contributing to America's greatness beyond the natural reasons like geography etc..  That said, not all apples in a barrel are good ones .  One bad apple, as the saying goes, can ruin the others. Perhaps we have reached that stage due to radicalism and need to re-examine our immigration premises.

The terror entity that rules Gaza and is committed to the destruction of the world’s sole Jewish state is willing to sacrifice the well-being of the Palestinian people to do so. Does the media care?Is it always sunny for Hamas in Philadelphia?

“If I was a Palestinian kid, growing up in East Jerusalem’s Silwan [neighborhood],” Abraham Gutman tweeted, “I’d probably hate Jewish people.” Gutman, an opinion and editorial writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer, later deleted the tweet after he was exposed by CAMERA’s Adam Levick. It is, however, far from the only instance of Gutman’s outrageous rhetoric on the Jewish state.

Indeed, the Inquirer writer was unrepentant, later clarifying that “98 percent of the time that I delete a tweet [it] is because I don’t want to deal with you—not because I regret what I said.” In his since-deleted tweet, Gutman justified anti-Semitism, writing “neighbors expelled from their homes—by Jews. … Houses demolished—by Jews. … Jewish symbols towering over the neighborhood to mark dominance” and then asking “what conclusion would you make?”

The proper conclusion, in Gutman’s own words, was to “hate Jewish people.” Not, it must be noted, “Israelis,” but Jewish people.

Regrettably, it is not the only instance of the Inquirer writer making inflammatory statements.

In a Jan. 1, 2022 tweet, Gutman said: “Both Israeli and Palestinian media report of IDF airstrikes in Gaza. The attacks are in response to 2 rockets from Gaza that exploded off the coast of Jaffa—which Hamas says they [sic] were fired due to weather-related malfunction. Gaza didn’t get 24 hours without strikes.” Gutman subsequently lamented that “a bunch of people are upset about this tweet, calling me a Hamas apologist for … quoting Israeli media.”

One doesn’t need to be a “Hamas apologist” to realize that taking a U.S.-designated terrorist group at its word is problematic at best. Indeed, had Gutman done some digging, he would have quickly found that Hamas has a long history of claiming that “weather-related malfunctions” cause rockets to be “accidentally” launched. Instead, he chose to believe the claims of a terrorist group that calls for a Jewish genocide.

The Inquirer writer even tried to skirt the issue of Hamas’s responsibility, tweeting: “I don’t know if the rocket was fired on purpose or not. I do know that the Palestinians in Gaza are the ones who suffer every time there is an escalation. Gaza is in a terrible situation (humanitarian, political, economic).” He added defensively: “Asking what is Israel gaining by responding today is a valid question—especially since the idea that the strikes are establishing deterrence doesn’t add up, especially if you think the rocket was on purpose.”

And here again, Gutman seems willing to afford Hamas, and not Israel, the benefit of the doubt.

Gaza is indeed in a terrible situation. And Gutman is right to be concerned by Palestinian suffering. But the blame lies not with Israel but with the Palestinian terrorist group that brutally ruled the enclave. “Gaza’s miseries,” The New York Times columnist Bret Stephens correctly observed in 2018, “have Hamas authors.”

Indeed, Israel unilaterally withdrew from the coastal enclave in 2005, providing Palestinians with a chance to create their own peaceful state. Instead, Hamas, whose founding charter approvingly quotes Hitler, was subsequently elected and, after a brief civil war with rival clique Fatah, seized control of the Gaza Strip in 2007.

Since seizing power, Hamas—like Fatah, which dominates the Palestinian Authority that rules the West Bank—has refused to hold elections. Indeed, almost immediately after taking control, Hamas began indiscriminately launching rockets at Israel, often from behind the cover of human shields, a double war crime. The terrorist group’s commitment to destroying the Jewish state—a goal expressed repeatedly by its leaders and in its official media—has led to several Hamas-initiated wars.

And it is further expressed when Hamas pilfers the considerable international aid that it receives.

Indeed, Hamas has a long history of misusing international assistance. As a USA Today report on Oct. 14, 2013, noted, materials sent to Gaza to build its infrastructure have instead been used to construct terror tunnels from which to launch attacks. These materials were meant to build schools, roads, clinics, hospitals and housing units, but as photographic evidence showed, Hamas was using them with murderous intent. By some estimates, each tunnel takes $3 million to $10 million to build. Yet when the Israeli Defense Forces have found and destroyed these tunnels, Hamas has sworn that it would build “thousands” more. As recently as the summer of 2021, Hamas leaders rejected stringent monitoring mechanisms for aid.

Hamas has also been caught digging up water pipes and making them into rockets. In fact, in a 2019 speech, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar openly acknowledged doing just that.

Put simply: Hamas is committed to the destruction of the world’s sole Jewish state and is expressly willing to sacrifice the well-being of the Palestinian people to achieve that objective. And it counts on naive Western commentators who deprive Palestinians of independent agency, to overlook both its crimes and its intent. At The Philadelphia Inquirer, that seems like a safe bet.

Good news Israel (edited.)

These are very exciting times, as Israeli innovations are literally lifting-off. Dozens of Israeli children watched eight of their school-built nano-satellites being launched into space, and there is more good news about another 12 Israeli space projects. Intel has unveiled its latest 12th-generation Israeli-developed microprocessor and Israel's Mobileye has lifted the lid on its super-computer chip to power autonomous cars. Those suffering from cancer, lupus and autism will have their hopes raised by the latest Israeli medical treatments and research. Afghan refugees and women in India will certainly get a lift from recent Israeli humanitarian initiatives.  Israeli trade and investment is rising to new heights and there are signs that Israeli tourism may be about to take off again. More ancient Jewish artifacts have been lifted from the Land of Israel, and the sight of blossoming trees is lifting spirits throughout the country.

In the 16th Jan 22 edition of Israel’s good news, the highlights include:

Israel is building a $265 million cancer treatment center in Tel Aviv.

Israeli schoolchildren watch eight of their satellites launch into space.

Intel launches its Israeli-developed 12th generation microprocessor.

Driving a car is easy – Israeli scientists get a goldfish to do it!

ISRAEL’S MEDICAL ACHIEVEMENTS

Lupus treatment is right on target. Current treatments for lupus nephritis shut down much of the immune system, with many adverse side effects. A new therapy developed by researchers, including Israel’s Professor Chaim Putterman, targets only the relevant T-cells and is therefore much safer.

China is gaining strength in terms of dominating TAIWAN, world commerce and the South Pacific Seas.  Inside America, every aspect of our society is being threatened by radicals including members of the black and Muslim populations, illegal immigrants surging through open borders, potential terrorists connected with Iran and The Taliban and elected officials espousing socialist and communist philosophy. Their intent is the total destruction of America because our presence threatens their desire for power and control of the entire world.

Capitalism and individual rights are impediments to their efforts to control.

So what can we do to right the ship? It is self-evident we need to reverse virtually every trend from education to restoring the rule of law etc.  Where we stand today did not happen overnight.  It took decades of indifference but we no longer have the luxury of time to correct.  The most important thing is to rid the nation of the current Democrat Party which is controlled by radicals who have taken it extremely far left. This demands the Republican Party must offer rational alternatives that are truly corrective and speak with a single voice.  They must offer candidates that are committed to the nation not to themselves and offer solutions that reflect what the founding fathers intended and created.

To accomplish this worthy goal demands selfless acts by fringe candidates who cannot win and can only divide and make if more difficult for those during the nomination process  who have the best chance of victory..  Georgia is a perfect example and my own support for former Senator Perdue is a valid case in point and I am giving it a second thought. Second, the candidates must convince voters they will do what they commit to and campaign on once in office as did Trump.

Third, voters must be wiling to stay involved and see the winners adhere to their commitments. The vast majority tend to remain silent and this allows activists with loud voices to accomplish their "wokeness" when, in fact, it is counter to every principle America and Americans stand for and want.

Standing up to thugs is not pleasant or easy.  It often comes at a price and in some instances one's very life. Perhaps die but win or surely die later because of failure are the extreme choices. Ask the Germans and Japanese.

And:

this was sent to me by a dear friend and fellow memo reader:

Much of the content formed part of Newt's Contract With America that he proposed decades ago. I am in total agreement.

Another e mail responding to the bigoted petition I posted previously with our own response:

Totally and utterly disgusting this has got to be a new low for our community. A---

Excerpted from FAIR Weekly Roundup:

In Tablet, Ilana Redstone wrote a piece titled “The Crisis of Moral Legitimacy,” warning readers that “universities are training students not to see validity in alternative worldviews.”

According to Redstone, her students are frequently able to give abundant reasons for positions they support, however she found that they were routinely unable to come up with compelling reasons—apart from bigotry—why someone might take a contrary position.

Redstone believes this stark “asymmetry in the students’ ability to produce morally reasonable arguments” for certain positions is extremely concerning.

Can this be explained by students’ fears of voicing unpopular positions, or is it because they actually can’t think of an answer? Probably both factors are at play. After all, the inability to articulate other perspectives is often true even for students who themselves hold non-progressive positions. But both point to the same problem: The need to understand the moral legitimacy of opposing perspectives when it comes to many controversial issues.
