Fluff versus stuff!

Can't attack me cause I ain't said "nuttin" and even if I did it was all nice and pleasant. How do you grab fluff?

During the McCarthy Era it became very difficult to refute the "big lie." The bigger the lie the more difficult it became. Finally, McCarthy, it turned out, was the "big lie" and he eventually fell on his own sword. Before he did, he kept the nation paralyzed and gripped with fear for a long period and destroyed a whole bunch of folks' careers. An awful lot of people believed McCarthy was the Messiah come to warn us about all those Communists residing under our beds.

All politicians spin, dodge and say inanities. Eventually they are brought to earth. Some by events, some by their voracious appetite for power, some by their egregious lies, some simply by the passing of time and sometimes by the nation maturing.

Hillary's negatives seem to have finally caught up with her with an able assist from "it's your husband, stupid." At the time, Monica was not Murine!

Obama continues along his Messianic way, gushing forth uplifting platitudes devoid of substance. But why should he "change." No one in the media has seen fit to challenge him.

Edwards, ever the Populist, combed his locks once too often and was brushed off by the voters.

Romney, accomplished as he was in both the private and public sector, could not overcome being a Morman, who "changed his mind." It is apparently okay to talk about change but you must not be seen to change yourself.

Giuliani, apparently changed too many wives and waited too long to "engage."

Thompson waited too long to "engage" and his proposal was rejected.

Huckabee, is as likeable as apple pie but his appeal is limited and you can't slay a Democrat with a short sword. Being a man of the cloth, Huckabee still believes he is David, and a verbal slingshot is sufficient.

Finally, McCain is the old snorting war horse. The aging Gallahad and certified war hero. If things proceed as pundits assert the upcoming battle will be between raw youth and aged beef, fluff versus stuff.

I've said it before and say it again - Shakespeare could not have written a better drama. The only difference is a nuclear war may be looming on the horizon. But why worry about the future. Just focus on change!
