Our legislators love passing bills without reading them and knowing the small print. Their staffers, if diligent, know more about what a politician signs his name to than the signatoree. This is also why the various agencies are able to interpret the laws before them most anyway they want and generally as they prefer.
Remember when Obamacare was passed and Pelosi's quip. "We had to pass it to find out what was in it."
In other words, you wash the windows first to learn they were dirty after they have been cleaned, or put the horse before the cart thing or is it the reverse?
All politicians seem interested in these days is being re-elected so they can continue business as usual. They have become very self centered and care more about re-election than what is best for the nation and this is partly why we are in the mess we are in and our Republic may not last.
What can be done about this? Probably very little because the right kind of person no longer wants to serve and subject themselves to the abuse politicians and the mass media deal as well as "the loyal opposition" deal out. Furthermore, the basic job does not pay well unless you remain in office long enough to take advantage of the wealth building opportunities (here think Rep. Waters et. al.)
Yes, we have the best government lobbyist's, cozy contributors can deliver/buy.

Critical of Barr because of his views regarding not enough fraud to overturn results:
+++
Barr Hits Bottom
Former AG backs the Democrats’ Jan. 6 show trial.
By Lloyd Billingsley, FPM
Last week, former Attorney General William Barr told the Democrats’ Jan. 6 Committee he hadn’t seen evidence of voter fraud on a scale that could have affected the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. In late November of 2020, Barr told reporters, “to date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election.”
Before the 2020 election, voters may recall, Joe Biden openly touted “the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics.” Voter fraud is a crime, but Biden’s boast failed to spark any investigation by Attorney General William Barr. The addled Biden hunkered down in a basement and scarcely campaigned at all.
For AG William Barr, the Delaware Democrat won fair and square. Barr saw no need to look for evidence of voter fraud, now available in the form of Dinesh D’Souza’s 2000 Mules.
The film used cell phone data and government surveillance tapes to document illegal vote harvesting in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Texas. In Georgia alone, the film reviewed four million minutes of drop-box video. In his deposition for the Democrats, Barr erupted in laughter.
The tracking and photographic evidence was “unimpressive,” Barr said, the documentary “didn’t establish widespread illegal harvesting, and the conclusions of the documentary were “indefensible.” D’Souza called him out.
“What do you say, Barr?” D’Souza tweeted, “Do you dare back up your belly laughs with arguments that can withstand rebuttal and cross-examination?” Barr wasn’t going for it, and the former AG was also of interest for what he did not say.
On January 6, 2021, Capitol Police officer Michal Byrd shot dead unarmed Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt, a veteran of the U.S. Airforce. The shooting of Babbitt was the only death by gunfire on that day. In stark contrast to other shootings by police officers, Byrd faced no charges. Observers might think that a former U.S. Attorney General, the nation’s top law enforcement official, would show some interest in a case like that. When it comes to federal agents shooting unarmed civilians, particularly women, Barr can boast experience.
During the Ruby Ridge siege of 1992, FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi shot unarmed Vicki Weaver in the head as she held her infant child. Snipers are trained carefully to “acquire” the target so the killing was not accidental, as FBI boss Louis Freeh claimed. This went down during Barr’s first stint as attorney general from 1991-1993.
Barr showed little if any concern for the slain mother. On the other hand, he did spend two weeks organizing former attorney generals to defend Horiuchi, who already had government lawyers working on his behalf. Barr told reporters he was not directly involved in Ruby Ridge but the Washington Post revealed that the DOJ made 20 telephone contacts with the operation, two of them from William Barr.
The Weaver family filed a wrongful death lawsuit and the DOJ paid $3 million. When an Idaho county filed criminal charges against Horiuchi, Barr sought immunity for the FBI sniper. Appeal court judge Alex Kozinski warned of a “007 standard for the use of deadly force” against American citizens who posed no immediate threat.
The shoot-without-provocation rules were approved by the FBI’s Larry Potts. When Clinton attorney general Janet Reno nominated Potts for deputy director of the FBI, William Barr told the New York Times Potts was “deliberate and careful” and “I can’t think of enough good things to say about him.”
With that record, it comes as no surprise that Barr would find nothing amiss with the FBI and DOJ bosses who conducted covert operations to smear candidate Donald Trump and attempted to take down the duly elected president of the United States. In Barr’s recent book, One Damn Thing After Another: Memoirs of an Attorney General, they all get good reviews.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein suddenly appointed Robert Mueller to investigate Trump. “Few can appreciate the complexities Rod faced during that tumultuous time,” writes Barr, “and even fewer will know the important contributions he made to the administration and the country.” Since Barr names not a single one, a ballpark figure for these important contributions is zero.
Barr counts Robert Mueller as a friend and helped James Comey become U.S. Attorney in New York. Current FBI boss Christopher Wray, who denied any government spying on Trump, gets Barr’s full approval.
Back in December of 1969, William Barr applied for an internship with the CIA and was admitted to the program. As a lawyer, Barr continued to work in the CIA’s Office of Legislative Counsel. Aside from Jimmy Carter pick Stansfield Turner, “a disaster,” CIA bosses come off pretty well in Barr’s memoir.
John Brennan shows up on page 190 claiming that the CIA knew what Russians were doing in the 2016 election. In the 1976 election, John Brennan voted for the Stalinist Gus Hall, candidate of the Communist Party USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Soviet Union. Barr is not curious why the CIA would hire such a person.
Barr tasked U.S. Attorney John Durham to look into the Russia hoax, but as the memoir explains, “I made it clear that neither President Obama nor Vice President Biden were in Durham’s crosshairs.” So for AG William Barr, some people are indeed above the law.
William Barr still believes Joe Biden won fair and square, so by implication the people were panting for the disastrous conditions now prevailing. With no independent investigation, Barr agrees with Democrats’ proclamation that the 2020 election was the most secure in history. If Capitol cops or FBI snipers gun down unarmed women, William Barr has their back.
Unlike Winston Smith in George Orwell’s 1984, William Barr never needed to win the victory over himself. Right from the start, he loved Big Brother. In the depths of the DC swamp, William Barr is the lowest bottom feeder.

Cleveland Muslim Police Officer a bit scary:

Cleveland’s ‘Officer of the Year’ Praised Hitler, Joined Facebook Group Honoring Bin Laden
BY ROBERT SPENCER
Cleveland Patrol Officer Ismail Quran could be the poster child for the Defund the Police movement, but it wasn’t all that long ago that he was a rising star: in 2019, the city of Cleveland’s Division of Police named him its “Police Officer of the Year” and gave him its Distinguished Service Medal, hailing him in fulsome terms: “Officer Ismail Quran has truly embodied the community policing philosophy for the Cleveland Division of Police.” Yet Quran was hired, and given this award, despite a social media record of praising Hitler and Hamas. He even joined a Facebook group honoring Osama bin Laden. Did the Cleveland police not know about this or not care? Either way, not a good look.
Quran’s troubles began last Thursday, when Canary Mission, which monitors online anti-Semitism, tweeted a video about Quran with the heading: “SERIOUSLY SCARY! Despite horrifying anti-Semitic hate speech, Cleveland Police Officer Ismail Quran was rewarded by @CLEpolice with an ‘Officer of the Year’ Award! Do you trust this officer to keep Jews safe? A MUST WATCH VIDEO!”
Canary Mission’s dossier on Quran is loaded with harrowing material. In September 2012, Quran, who has since deleted his Twitter account, tweeted: “I’ll beat the hell out of you like I do Nadiah the Jew lol.” On July 14, 2014, he tweeted: “F**k that Jew.” His tweet included an image of Hitler with this caption: “LET ME SALUTE TO HITLER THE GREAT. He said ‘i would have killed all the jews of the world, but i kept some to show the world why i killed them.’” He also apparently posted this Hitler image on Instagram, as later that day, Quran tweeted: “Actually received a lot of support on that Hitler pic I posted on IG! Lol again it’s for the Zionists, not Jews. There is a difference.” The following day, however, Quran walked back his Hitler support as he accused Israel of genocide, tweeting the same image again and writing: “I don’t salute this man, but what is happening to us, is what happened to the Jews by Hitler.”
In July 2014 and on numerous occasions thereafter, Quran tweeted still more viciously anti-Semitic statements, including: “Lol bum a** Jew tried to intimidate me…don’t try that s**t with me.” “I HOPE THEY TAKE THE JEWS OUT OF PALESTINE.” “F**K THE ZIONIST JEWS!!!!!!!!!!!! B**ch A** MOTHER F**KERS.” “That scumbag Jew.” “F**k the @ Jews #FreePalestine.” “Scumbag Yahoodi [Jew].” “Jews run the world lol Facts! Our owner is Jew! KNICKS!” “ISIS = Israeli Secret Intelligence Unit. Who does Israel get support from? The U.S. #Aliens lol #InsideJob #OpenYourEyes.” “Im like the Jews who think Its okay 4 Hammas 2 fight back the Jews who invaded our country. Those Jews are educated.
In May 2014, Quran tweeted to Lara Kollab, a medical student who boasted about giving Jews “the wrong meds”: “who bothering ya!!!! Let me at em! Lol if it’s a Jew give me their @ and I’ll do it.” In August 2014, Quran expressed a dim view of Barack Obama: “it’s actually crazy out President really has no power & is Israel’s puppet.”
Related: Is Biden’s SCOTUS Nominee Anti-Semitic?
All this and much more were publicly available, yet the Cleveland police hired Quran on July 2, 2018. Did they not look at his social media or not care about what they saw there? It’s hard to escape the impression that Cleveland police officials just didn’t care, especially since they named Quran Police Officer of the Year after Canary Mission drew attention to his posts. Canary Mission said in a statement: “We initially released Ismail Quran’s profile in January 2019. His large number of anti-Semitic posts were severe and all posted after Quran had completed his first Police Officer Physical Agility Exam. We were already concerned that the Cleveland Police Department employed an officer with a record of anti-Semitic hate speech. However, we are shocked and dismayed that the Cleveland Police Department honored Quran later that same year.”
However, Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association president Jeff Follmer was dismissive: “These Tweets are from over a decade ago. It doesn’t represent the amazing police officer that he is.” Actually, Quran joined the pro-bin Laden Facebook group five years ago, in 2017. Would Follmer have been so cavalier if Quran in 2017 had joined a Facebook group praising Donald Trump? In that case, Quran might not have been removed from the force, but he almost certainly would never have copped the Officer of the Year award.
But now that Quran’s posts are getting unwelcome attention, Cleveland officials are finally acting. Cleveland police spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia stated that “the City of Cleveland, Division of Police was made aware of a matter involving a Cleveland Police Officer and inappropriate social media content. The matter has been referred to the Cleveland Division of Police Internal Affairs Unit and the City of Cleveland’s Ethics Officer for thorough investigation.” While this alleged investigation is going on, Quran has been “assigned to administrative duties.”
Well, great. But what if the ADL had succeeded in its efforts to defame and destroy Canary Mission and it never profiled Quran? Was the city of Cleveland so anxious to feature and honor a Muslim police officer and thereby earn a few wokeness points that it was willing to endanger Jews in the area? The worst part of all this may be that the current investigation of Ismail Quran will almost certainly ignore the most important questions his case raises.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Biden's public approval rating fell for a fourth straight week to 36%, matching its lowest level last seen in late May, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll completed on Wednesday.
The president's approval rating has stayed below 50% since August, a warning sign that his Democratic Party could lose control of at least one chamber of the U.S. Congress in the Nov. 8 midterm elections.
Thirty-four percent of Americans say the economy is the most important issue currently facing the United States. Biden has been plagued by 40-year-highs in inflation, with Russia's invasion of Ukraine restricting global fuel supply and supply chains still constrained by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among his own party, Biden's approval rating remains largely unchanged since last week - at 73% compared to 74% on June 15. In August, 85% of Democrats approved of Biden's performance.
But among Republicans, Biden's rating slipped to 7% compared to 11% on June 15. Only 18% of Americans think the country is headed in the right direction.
Biden's approval rating is approaching - but has not yet reached - the lowest levels seen by his predecessor, Donald Trump, who had a 33% approval rating in December 2017.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll is conducted online in English throughout the United States. The most recent poll gathered responses from 1,002 adults, including 435 Democrats and 379 Republicans. It has a credibility interval - a measure of precision - of four percentage points

Dear Mr. Berkowitz,
I am asking you to stand with us today due to the historic importance of our work and because we need more support from committed members like you!
CONTRIBUTE
For example, right now…
We are putting the spotlight on and pulling back the curtain on Biden family corruption;
We continue our national leadership fighting for honest elections by building on our series of historic and successful lawsuits that are cleaning up dirty voter registration rolls in California, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina and Ohio…helping prevent voter fraud and protect the integrity of our elections in in 2022 and beyond. We’re in court now in Colorado, Illinois, and Pennsylvania …and we recently warned 14 counties in 5 more states we will sue if they don’t begin to clean their voter rolls. And we overturned in court a partisan, gerrymandered congressional redistricting scheme in Maryland!
We continue fighting in the courts for immigration law enforcement. The open borders Biden administration is overreaching its constitutional authority…and has created an unprecedented surge of illegal aliens and a humanitarian and rule of law crisis at our southern border.
We recently won back-to-back court victories in California that overturned a state gender quota and a state “diversity” mandate for California corporate boards of directors.
Clearly, our need to police our elected and non-elected officials never ends.
CONTRIBUTE
For 28 years no one has worked harder or more effectively than Judicial Watch to challenge Washington’s culture of corruption…no matter who controls Congress or the White House…and we can do this essential work because of the generous support we receive from you and hundreds of thousands of members. With strong member support we refuse to let corrupt politicians like Joe Biden off the hook!
And when politicians and bureaucrats fail to comply with our nation’s open records laws or violate other statutes, we challenge them in the courts…
…and where others just talk and complain…Judicial Watch acts!
But these battles are expensive.
CONTRIBUTE
We are constantly confronted by government bureaucrats who “stonewall” our investigations. So, without the deep pockets of the government to fund our independent investigations, litigation and public education, we rely on you and other members who share our commitment to upholding the rule of law.
That’s why I am counting on you to help us at this midpoint of the year with a contribution today. With your continued support our work can and often does literally change history.
Thank you for all you do to help us fight for the rule of law!
Sincerely,
Tom Fitton
President

JEROLD S. AUERBACH-OPINION
When Arabs became Palestinians
Following World War I, British Colonial Secretary Winston Churchill gifted the land east of the Jordan River—until then part of “Palestine,” according to the League of Nations Mandate—to Britain’s wartime ally Abdullah for his own kingdom.
(June 22, 2022 / JNS)….. Not until the mid-20th century—two decades after the birth of the State of Israel—did Arabs in Palestine begin to show signs of a distinctive national identity. It was largely due to the humiliating Arab defeat in the Six-Day War, ending Jordanian control over West Bank Arabs. Why was it, wondered Bethlehem resident Walid Shoebat, “that on June 4th, 1967, I was a Jordanian and overnight I became a Palestinian.” CONTINUE

Tainted Qatari Millions Are All Over Washington
Qatar is also sending billions to a small circle of top-flight universities.
By David Adesnik & Hussain Abdul-Hussain
Richard Olson, a former U.S. ambassador to Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, pleaded guilty last week to illegal lobbying on behalf of Qatar, the wealthy Persian Gulf emirate. Top media outlets then reported that the FBI seized documents from retired Marine Gen. John R. Allen, who commanded NATO troops in Afghanistan. Allen denies any wrongdoing.
Such allegations are remarkable all on their own, yet the significance of this story only becomes apparent if one sets it against the backdrop of the billions of dollars that Qatar’s autocratic government has spent to buy influence in Washington. Nor is this the first time that the recipients of Doha’s largesse apparently ignored federal laws requiring the disclosure of their financial relationships. CONTINUE

Lockheed May Consider Building Short-Range Missile Defense System To Stop Attacks
(JustPatriots.com)- This morning, Defense News reported that Lockheed Martin is debating the feasibility of converting its Joint Air-to-Ground Missile, or JAGM, into a mobile, short-range air defense system.
Rita Flaherty, vice president of strategy and commercial operations for Lockheed’s Missiles and Fire Control division, told Defense News that the idea already exists. She said that they believe it will apply to various platforms.
An air-to-surface missile is the JAGM system, also called AGM-179. The JAGM has a 5-mile range with a semi-active laser and millimeter-wave radar guiding system. The 108-pound JAGM may be launched from fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
Flaherty added that there is no reason it needs to be limited. It might have anti-armor capability or even ground-launch ability.
According to Jen Judson, the Hellfire Longbow missile, the JAGM weapon’s precursor, is already on the books for air-defense uses. It is a component of the first installation of an M-SHORAD Stryker-based system that the American Army quickly constructed and deployed to Europe.
The Hellfire missile, or AGM-114, has a variety of uses. It has been in use ever since the middle of the 1980s. The Hellfire was upgraded to be used in precise drone strikes and to attack high-value targets after being initially developed as an anti-armor weapon.
The Hellfire’s ability to perform in surface-to-air and surface-to-surface roles demonstrates its adaptability. The 100-pound missile can be fired from platforms on land, the water, or the air. The Hellfire cost $150,000 per unit, which was significantly cheaper than the JAGM successor.
But the JAGM ought to be adaptable, like the Hellfire. As Judson notes, it can engage many targets day or night in any weather, making it almost a plug-and-play substitute for the Longbow missile.
The JAGM should provide the armed forces with greater operational freedom while spending less on logistics. Of course, the JAGM will carry out these functions even more efficiently if it can be reconfigured to operate in entirely different roles, such as air defense.
The US Navy and Marine Corps will use the JAGM in addition to the US Army. The American Air Force is also talking with Lockheed about fitting the missile on its aircraft.
