Don't Hold Your Breath! Professor Kroenig's Lecture - Fascinatingly Interesting!

Grandma Hillary has been told get out of your limousine, get off  your high horse and get thee to a Chipotle! Why? Because all Grandma Hillary wants to do in life is help the middle class.

The best way to help the middle class is to restrain government. Big government, and its constant interference with capital markets, has helped to destroy middle class opportunities.

The mounting deficit demands funding that withdraws capital that would otherwise be available for private enterprise.  When interest rates begin their rise, as they surely will,  the interest on our mounting debt will rise consuming a greater portion of GDP.

If Grandma Clinton truly cares about the middle class she will focus on reducing government intrusion, call on states to improve education and put the ship of state on a course to achieve a balanced budget, reduce entitlement spending and eliminate various government departments and agencies.

Governor Christie has a novel, stupid and amoral idea.  He wants to break what is left of government's moral commitment to those who have paid into the Social Security Pool, by eliminating any payment if they earn more than he believes they should. The reason he felt compelled  to embrace this idea is because, after FDR began the program, politicians used the Ponzi schemed Social Security  retirement  funds  to finance government deficit spending so the system will soon bankrupt.

The best way to help the middle class is to allow them to partially invest their earnings into a pool of selected mutual funds if they so choose.  Investing in capitalism will produce far better retirement returns than investing in the government.

Other ways Grandma Clinton can help the middle class is to shut down various government agencies which simply launder tax payer money in D C ( where it becomes shrunken by expanded  salaries to government employees) and then return it to the states with strings attached.  Another Ponzi scheme designed to center control over our lives in D.C.

I have repeatedly written that virtually everything government touches it destroys or makes  worse. The V.A does not work, the IRS is corrupt, employees working for the department charged to oversee the growing  Mexican Cartel menace enjoy prostitute parties paid for by the cartels, the energy department and EPA are hell bent on destroying the coal industry and restricting our ability to become energy independent and the list of government costly failures is endless.

So if Grandma Hillary is sincere about wanting to help the middle class, the best thing she can do is to start being sincere herself.  Don't hold your breath!

In my opinion,  the vast majority of Americans are becoming less tolerant about being ripped off by government and those they elect. As the middle class shrinks I sense they are quickly coming to the end of their rope. They are angry, confused and frustrated and therefore, more susceptible, than ever before, to radical propositions that will destroy our Republic.

No, Obama is not fully responsible but he did accelerate America's decline by his incompetent management of our nation's affairs.

Therefore, time is running out  and whomever is next to occupy The Oval Office, they better be sincere, have a worthy and believable plan of action and competent in its execution.

That said, I see nothing in Grandma Hillary's bag of tricks worth believing in and or buying.

Personally, the jury is still out who best fills the order. On the Democrat side, the number of qualified candidates appear thin.

I attended a presentation this evening under the auspices of The Savannah Council on World Affairs. The lecturer was a college professor  from Georgetown University.  Our grandson graduated from Georgetown and attended  Dr. Matthew  Kroenig's classes.  Kroenig, is an expert on Iran and recently worked in The Pentagon consulting  for a year. He  has had many articles and books published on the subject of Iran's nuclear ambitions etc.. (For Dr. Kroenig's bio See 2 below.)

His lecture was divided into three parts and began with the history of Iran's nuclear development. America assisted Iran  during the Shah's regime because it was intended to be for nuclear power. Then the Mullah's took over, lost the war to Iraq and concluded having a nuclear capability was critical.

The second part of the lecture discussed the rationale for Iran wanting to possess a nuclear capability and the technological capability of having such.  Iran has now progressed to the point of being within months of having enough fissionable materiel to proceed to a bomb in short order. If they are allowed to reach this point there would be no stopping them.

The third part of his lecture discussed the proposition of whether would it is better to try and stop Iran through diplomacy and if that is not possible then  the next question is whether  it is better to acquiesce or stop them militarily.

It is the learned professor's view the consequences of stopping Iran militarily outweigh the downside of allowing Iran to become a nuclear power. He talked about the colored chart he and his associates constructed while at The Pentagon which set forth the various pros and cons and the predominant weighting favored a military intervention barring a diplomatic solution.

Personally, I was surprised to find there is still one professor from a, more or less, liberal academic institution could be so clear headed.

I put several questions to him and the last one pertained to whether he honestly thought Obama would use force and he said he actually believed he would. Time will tell because Dr. Kroenig believes a nuclear confrontation will occur during his lifetime and he is a very young professor.

1) Report: Hillary Wrong, Most of Her Grandparents Not Immigrants
By Cathy Burke

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton flubbed her family history Wednesday, saying that all of her grandparents had immigrated to America when public records show that just one came to the United States as a child, BuzzFeed reports.

Speaking at an event in Iowa on her first campaign swing since announcing her candidacy, she spun a tale of an all-immigrant grandparent heritage at Capital City Fruit in Norwalk.

"All my grandparents, you know, came over here, and you know my grandfather went to work in a lace mill in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and worked there until he retired at 65," Clinton said, referring to paternal grandfather Hugh Rodham Sr.

"He started there when he was a teenager and just kept going. So, I sit here and I think, well, you're talking about the second, third generation. That's me, that's you."

Clinton has previously talked about her grandmother immigrating.

But BuzzFeed reports that the former secretary of state's sole foreign-born grandparent was the senior Hugh Rodham.

"Her grandparents always spoke about the immigrant experience, and as a result she has always thought of them as immigrants," a Clinton spokesman told BuzzFeed.

"As has been correctly pointed out, while her grandfather was an immigrant, it appears that Hillary's grandmother was born shortly after her parents and siblings arrived in the U.S. in the early 1880s."
In spinning the tale of grandmother Hanna Jones Rodham last year, Clinton declared that her relative "immigrated with her family as a young girl to Scranton and went to work — very young ― in a silk mill, and then she met and married my grandfather, who had also come to this country as a young man from the coal-mining area in Newcastle, in England."

BuzzFeed, however, posts 1910, 1920, and 1930 census records showing her paternal grandmother was born in Pennsylvania in 1882.

Adds Megan Smolenyak, who researched a story for Irish America, Clinton's grandparents were born in the United States, "with the exception of Hugh," Buzz Feed reports.

Smolenyak also noted that seven of Clinton's eight great-grandparents were immigrants, the website reports.

Donnie Radcliffe, a Washington Post reporter who wrote a biography of Clinton, relates a similar history, Buzz Feed reports.
