Biden’s pathetic disregard for the humanitarian catastrophe at the border

By Post Editorial Board

Joe Biden just admitted, yet again, that the humanitarian disaster at our southern border does not matter to him. He simply views it as a negligible price to pay for his open-borders policy.

“There are more important things going on”, sniffed the president, when asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy why he had not visited the border during an Arizona visit.

Sorry, but there really aren’t any, at least not domestically.

The fiscal year that ended September 30 saw a record 2.4 million migrants encountered at the southern border, up almost 40% from the previous year (which was already a record-breaker). There have been at least 207,000 encounters already in November, as well as 137,000 “gotaways” — migrants spotted but not stopped by Customs and Border Protection agents — since October 1.

Remember too that a huge chunk of those stopped are turned back under Title 42, a Trump-era COVID rule that Biden tried to get rid of (then panicked when he saw how bad the numbers were and reversed course). But a federal court has ordered the rule must expire by Dec. 21. So expect another tidal wave increase to start 2023.

And as bad as they are, the raw numbers can’t give a real sense of the human toll. Small border towns are being strained to the breaking point by migrant inflows. Even El Paso, a midsize city, has been pushed to the point of declaring a state of emergency. And the migrants too bear the cost: At least a record 853 died that fiscal year trying to cross, up from 546 (itself a record) in 2021. Countless others likely died in transit.

The border crisis is spreading, as well, with migrants arriving in cities as far away as New York and adding a huge burden to an already strained social-services system.

Yet Biden sees this as unimportant. And every signal from the White House suggests there’s no substantive policy change on tap.

Indeed, his latest arrogant dismissal is firmly of a piece with his administration’s general attitude on the border, a mixture of indifference, outright lies and airy dissembling.

OK, we get why the president might not want to head south to see the carnage: His policies — reduced enforcement, implicit promises of de facto citizenship — are the very cause of it. Yet can’t the prez show a least a little compassion?

Biden is pooh-poohing utter social chaos and hideous death tolls. It’s sociopathic — and yet more proof of just how inhumane progressive policies are.

Democrats have become an evil group of radical thugs fixated on destroying a man and his entire family because he threatens their own nefarious activities. Trump is surely  his own worst enemy and is a person with many flaws but he was democratically elected, he did what he committed he would, a unique presidential event at the very least, and because he was not a politician type but a tried and true practical, problem solving, businessman he was able to think outside the box and resolve many previously intractable problems.

He placed our nation's fortunes first, as any leader should and brought our allies along, though often reluctantly. His greatest effort and contribution to world peace was the Abraham Accords for which he was due the Nobel Peace Prize but that seems only to go to the undeserving these days.

I need not regurgitate the mass media 's bias and false reporting, the Hunter affair and all the Democrat's and Biden have done to destroy this nation whether by omission or co-mission.

It should be obvious, Democrats have little use for the Constitution, capitalism, law and order and a meaningful education that acknowledges our unabashed and glorious history.  In the long balance of matters, the world is better off because of the sacrifices our nation and peoples have made,  our generosity towards our fellow world citizens, our democratic ways and desire to live in peace through competition as opposed to war and confrontation.

We are currently going through one of the worst and most dangerous periods in our history in terms of our republic's survival. Every institution that makes up our nation is under attack both from without and within. Politics has been weaponized and destruction of one's character and livelihood seems to motivate a segment of our citizenry.

This is not the American way, a nation I came to recognize, nor the nation in which I have lived. It must end before the "deplorables" are forced to respond as surely they will and must.
