Deriving Pleasure From Being Topical. More Ranting. Self Destruction? Paying For The Wall.

We all have egos. Some bigger than are healthy and I will let my memo readers judge the size of mine.

That said, I must confess I am pleased when something I write and/or discuss is subsequently taken up afterwards by those I respect.

Such was the case with my posting of Peggy Noonan's Saturday op ed, part of which I discussed several days prior and the same with Jason Willick's op ed piece also on Saturday.

I derive pleasure from being topical and sometimes anticipatory.

I remain market positive and believe the correction was over due.  Whether it has more to go remains the $64 question. Big drops can either feed on themselves or end quickly.  I do believe inflation and interest rates will rise but not enough, this year, to kill the economy.  The new incoming Fed Chairman would not like to have that on his resume. I remain a selective buyer.  Bless my heart!

1)  We finally had a little adjustment in the record breaking upward slope of stock prices. Just for perspective in 1929 the drop was only 12% to set off the depression.  In 1987 the bust was just 500 points, but that was 25% of market value. Amazing isn’t it. So 600 points is no big deal in proportion. Recall a few weeks ago I cited a study which showed the reaction to declines like these is all in relationship to how the market has been moving in prior months and in proportion to where it is in the index. 600 points now is not that big a deal. 4% in the week is still not that big a deal given how high the stock market has moved since Trump took  office. It is still up 39%. It is very likely there could be another big drop on Monday, but then the buyers will show up. Since 70% of trading is done by algorithms, it is hard to know what Monday will bring.  However, the drop was triggered because the economic numbers, especially on wages were better than expected. So here is how it works. The market has shot up because everyone expected GDP and wages to rise nicely so they ran up stock prices.  So when their forecasts came true,  and the data was very good, they sold, because it was even better than expected. Now you say this is not logical. Welcome to the stock market.

Reality is the economy is doing great now and wages are beginning to move up which is good for consumers and the economic growth. The stock market may be more volatile now, but the economy will drive earnings up and stocks will rise further.

The Memo
The Dems and press are complete hypocrites.  The Dems, the Times, Washington Post, CNN, NBC and much of the rest of the press now say a pre publishing restraint  preventing  publication should have been what happened. These are the exact same organizations who have gone to court anytime anyone tried to stop them from publishing secret and top secret intelligence information. The Times, of all people to demand prevention of publication,  had the precedent setting case for the Pentagon Papers, but now that the facts refute their whole story line about Trump, they demand the Congress and the  court stop publication. In October the Dems demanded Comey resign, and they attacked him relentlessly. Now he is their hero. When Watergate happened, the Dems demanded hearings and transparency.  Now they demand secrecy. With Whitewater the Clintons claimed it was all a right wing conspiracy, but now they want everything that may prove them in a scandal needs to be hidden.

Simple facts. According to a Congressmen who read the FISA request,  he says it was primarily the dossier and Yahoo News article, with just a few minor other items, and not 50 pages of other material for the judge to review. Fact. They did not inform the court anything about the source of the dossier and that the Yahoo article was planted be Steele to give support to the dossier. All of this was known to the FBI and DOJ before they presented the FISA application. They are trying now to blame the judges for not asking more questions.  Maybe they did, and maybe the lawyers for the FBI and DOJ lied. We do not know. The fact that Page had been a subject of interest since 2013 is not relevant. To extend a FISDA approval they need to provide new information according to lawyers who know the rules. Even if there was 50 other pages to the app with all sorts of information on Page, it is not relevant. All that matters here is the FBI and DOJ mislead the court regarding  their prime evidence, the dossier,  and that is a crime. Period. All the other noise is irrelevant.

According to the Congressman who says he asked McCabe the question, he said the quote in the memo is 100% accurate and it is in the transcript. It is not misinterpreted, and not inaccurate. Nunes says there were other witnesses who corroborated the McCabe statement, so the claims by Schiff that it is not accurate are seemingly just another lie by Schiff. Either it says it in the transcript, or not. It is hard to believe Gowdy, who is meticulous, would have left it in the memo if it is not in the transcript as written in the memo.

It is no wonder the media and the Dems went nuts about the release.  It completely supports Trump’s claim of bias in the media and the whole Meuller investigation was a witch hunt that never should have happened. It is all based on the dossier which we now have proof was a political hit job  based on information from Russians who were paid to provide dirt.  Claims that the Papadopoulos investigation supports the  FISA investigation of Page is nonsense. They had no connection at all. Just because Papadopoulos lied about as meeting in London has nothing to do with Page.

The people who signed off on the FISA app are all subject to further scrutiny as to who knew it was based on the phone dossier and Yahoo account. Comey and McCabe for sure knew, and McCabe knew there would be no investigation of Trump without the dossier and the FISA application on Page. He testified as such under oath.  Did Yates, Bonte and Rosenstein know. What was Comey setting up Trump for when he told Trump about the dossier in October but knew it was phony. Was this whole thing the” insurance policy”?  Sure appears to be.

Whatever is the full story, we all need to know. This is worse than Watergate because this is an intentional misleading of the court with phony information and relying on a Yahoo News article that was intentionally planted with the specific reporter who they knew would run with it. It was intended to derail the Trump candidacy and then his ability to govern. The media, Dems and you who hate Trump can concoct whatever fairy tales you wish, but this is really bad stuff no matter if it was aimed at Trump or Hilary or anyone else. It amounts to the top of the deep state trying to undermine democracy.

Nunes says there are more memos to come.  This is going to unravel to be a huge scandal and the media and Dems can lie, distort, try to hide it and attack Nunes, but it is all coming out and the Dems lose in November as a result. Perkins Coie is in the middle of all of this, as they were the money laundry to Fusion,  and we will have to see what other roles they did or did not play.  This is what I said it would be, a real major scandal,  and for which some of my liberal friends said I was just drinking the Kool Aid. This should upset everyone no matter what their politics. What occurred with the election, post-election and having Mueller appointed, is a version of an attempted soft coup, and that will be apparent when all  the dots are finally connected. It is clear Meuller has no case of collusion by Trump, and has moved on to now try to find a way to claim the press release re the meeting is somehow obstruction- which it is not. Editing a press release is not obstruction, and there was no crime to obstruct.

The Republicans will do much better in November than the press and polls said. New independent polls have it within 2% now.

2)We have known for years that the Clintons are corrupt, and their behavior has infected our government and much of the media.  Like certain forms of cancer, corruption grows slowly and becomes ever more malignant.  Much has been written about Lenin’s “useful idiots”, and Goldhagen’s “Willing Executioners” which focus on the devastating results of blind obedience.  And, blind obedience to authority is the greatest enemy of truth in this or any other society.

The great thinkers from Jefferson to Einstein warned against this.  My professors did and my parents did, too.

How then, did we get here?  In this nation whose foundation is built upon freedom of thought, and speechand action, what went wrong?  What has turned so many in the media, in education and the government against the truth?

I wish I had the time and knowledge to attempt an answer to these questions, but I raise them so we can think and think deeply about a solution.  To me, a breakthrough happened with the election of Donald Trump.

This brash, unconventional, and sometimes rude “blue collar” billionaire has taken some major steps toward changing the game.

Never since World War II have such a combination of forces been focused on bringing down
a president…or a country.  But, he doesn’t quit.  We won that war with the same resolve and with the  knowledge that if we failed, our country and its ideal would perish.

We are, in my opinion, in a similar situation today but the weapons of this war are lies,
disinformation and the weaponization of our laws.

Action is the answer.  Complacency is not.

The apostle John wrote that “the truth will set you free".  Justice Brandeis wrote that “sunlight is the  best disinfectant”.  And, of all people, Gloria Steinem penned, “the truth will set you free,  but first it will piss you off”.

Well, now that we know more of the truth about Hillary, her sycophants and their attempted coup, what are  we going to do about it?  There are lots of avenues open to us.  Use e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, telephone, pen or smoke signals to register your disgust.  Shine some light on these nogoodniks.  And, find a candidate for public office who  feels as you do and help that man or woman to win election.  Our ballot is powerful weapon.

BREAKING: Trump’s

ENTIRE

Wall Just Got Paid For By

ONE Person & You Won’t

Believe Who!

The fight over who will foot the $12-$15 billion to fund Trump’s U.S.-Mexico border wall is no longer an issue after one person could be forced to pony up the bill for it under the most ironic of circumstances. News is breaking right now from one of the most outspoken advocates of the border wall outside of President Donald Trump, who just dropped a bomb to solve the funding problem with one simple solution.
The money for the wall is already in America’s possession, we just need to get permission to use it now and the one who it belongs to has no say in the matter. You could call Senator Ted Cruz the best problem-solver with devising the perfect solution to get moving on one of Trump’s biggest and most important campaign promises.
Breitbart reports:
“Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) introduced a bill calling for the use of $14 billion seized from cartel drug lord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman to be used to pay for the President’s border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.”
It makes perfect sense since one of the world’s largest drug cartel leaders benefitted by the billions in an open border. Now that he’s in custody, it’s only fair that the “blood money” in holding go to good use against Chapo’s cause and Cruz is a genius for proposing this idea.
“Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way toward building a wall that will keep Americans safe and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, and individuals across our southern border,” Senator Cruz said, as was reported by Breitbart Texas who received a statement from the senator’s office on the matter. “Ensuring the safety and security of Texans is one of my top priorities.”

The entire objective of the border wall is to dramatically slow the flow of drugs and crime into America through avenues established by El Chapo. His forfeited drug money fortune will “offset the wall’s cost and make meaningful progress toward achieving President Trump’s stated border security objectives,” Cruz’s statement continued.
The bill, appropriately dubbed the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order (EL CHAPO), was introduced by Cruz on Tuesday and with any luck will get a lot of conservative support. Of course, liberals are greatly against the idea of a wall, preaching for breaking down walls of communication rather than building them. This Utopian idea can’t and won’t work as El Chapo proves with his billions of dollars and thousands of lives lost to his enterprise.
“The U.S. Government is currently seeking the criminal forfeiture of more than $14 billion in drug proceeds and illicit profits from El Chapo, the former leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel who was recently extradited to the U.S. to face criminal prosecution for numerous alleged drug-related crimes, including conspiracy to commit murder and money laundering,” Cruz stated, Breitbart reports.
Breitbart Texas’ Ildefonso Ortiz reports that “As part of the agreement with Mexico, Guzman will not face the death penalty in the U.S. for his crimes.” This makes the money usage even better since he has to live holed up in a jail cell for the rest of his life and know what all of his money is being siphoned into. Just because the kingpin is out, doesn’t mean that his cartel network is, which is still in operation breaching our border. It couldn’t be better than to make their boss pay for the wall that’s needed because of him and shut the whole drug and crime funnel down for good.

My Observations

I am trying to use the present political mess as a learning experience. I am believing that a lot of life’s lessons are being shown to us as we observe the incredibly bad behavior of many politicians in Washington.
Here are some of my observations/thoughts. I am observing the following behaviors:
1.      People who place their hatred of Donald Trump before their love of their country.
2.      People who place their hatred of Trump before the welfare of their political party.
3.      People who place their love of their political party ahead of their love of their country.
4.      People who place their hatred of the opposition party ahead of their love of their country.
As an example of my new way at looking at the behaviors of the politicians in Washington, let us look at the congressmen and senators who attended Trump’s annual state of the union speech.

One example: when Trump lauded the low unemployment rates for Hispanics and black people, he was describing something that is good for the country. Basically, it is good for all of us, including you and me. Yet the Democrats sat on their hands. They refused to stand, refused to applaud and even refused to smile. Wow, this is incredibly bad form on their part. They are reflecting numbers 1, 2, and 4 as listed above.

This is, IMHO, incredibly stupid on their part. We the American public saw this. We saw that their hatred of Trump and the Republican Party was greater than their caring about the welfare of us, the American people. If they keep this up, they will pay dearly at the ballot box some time in the future.

Hey, these guys are not that smart. It would have been smarter to applaud greatly, and share this bit of victory with the rest of the country. They took what is everybody’s victory, and cut themselves out of it. Not smart.

Now we have the FISA memo drama. To me it is clear that some important government officials acted illegally in order to get court permission to spy on the Trump campaign. Hey, there are dishonest people everywhere. When they pop up, identify them and get rid of them. But I see, incredibly, a long line of Democrats lining up to defend everything, and explain away this dishonest event. Well, as I see it, if you defend a crook, you also get labeled as a crook. These defenders of everything Democrat will just end up bringing shame on the entire Democratic Party, instead of limiting the shame to the several crooks that performed the dishonest deed. Again, not smart.

Yes, these guys are showing me what not to do. I hope that I can remember all of this, as my own life situations place me in similar situations. And it is a good reminder to me that hatred always hurts the hater more than it does the hated. As I watch the Democrats destroy themselves.
