Ordman's Good News continues.
+++
This week's positive Israel newsletter highlights that despite the on-going war, Israel's citizens, its organizations, and its many global friends are steadfast in their desire to recover from tragedy, eradicate evil, and work to make a better world.
Please recommend www.verygoodnewsisrael.blogspot.com and forward this email to friends, family and colleagues and especially to any individuals who you think need to know about the good work that Israel does.
In the 19th Nov 23 edition of Israel’s good news, the highlights include:
POSITIVE NEWS DURING A WAR

Nearly two-thirds of the Israeli public donated to various initiatives relating to the war effort during the 3rd week of the Israel-Hamas conflict and gave more money than ever. The joint study by Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion Universities reveals the average donation is NIS 458 a week in cash or in kind.

After one week, it moved them to a hotel that its employees paid for by redeeming their vacation days.

My dear friend and brilliant lawyer memo reader stopped by on way to Tampa yesterday. Loved seeing him.
+++
This last part of the memo is an addendum to a short review of some comments pertaining to "The Genius of Israel."
1) Abbas's history is more interesting than I thought. He actually studied at Hebrew University and many Palestinians consider him a traitor and a Zionist whereas some Jewish Israeli's consider Abbas being conciliatory for tactical reasons.
2) As for Israeli Arabs who live in Israel. They have all the same rights of citizenship and get along with Jewish Israelis to a large degree.
There remain radicals among their numbers for sure. They mostly live in East Jerusalem, must apply for citizenship and engage in murderous acts..
Israeli Arabs vote, run for public office, serve as mayors and on city councils, have a major presence in Israel's national parliament and some are Supreme Court Justices.
Their place in Israeli society, from a work standpoint, currently is in the area of healthcare and advancement in medicine. They are mostly pharmacists, doctors and nurses.
Eventually the gaps in education, income and infrastructure may narrow as Israeli Arabs enter the world of technology and begin to engage in "start ups" which would boost the Israeli economy in the whole.
They may volunteer to serve in the IDF but are not drafted.
Lamentably, like our own black citizens, a large number are engaged in gangs, fight and murder each other and work as drug dealers, loan sharks etc. The Israeli police admit they have lost control of the Arab street.
There is an effort and desire on the part of the Jewish and Arab side for greater integration and 65% of the Israeli Arabs , according to a 2020 poll, said they were proud Israelis.
3) As for the Haredim, a break has already occurred in the dam as many are now becoming entrepreneurs and are engaged in technology and own "start up" companies. The prediction is their family size will eventually decline from 6 to 7 children to 3 and they will become somewhat more secular.
