+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Recently we have observed two types of hypocrisy:
The first hypocrisy came as a result of the alleged "murder" of a black man which gave rise to blacks claiming black lives mattered and then they set about destroying their neighborhoods, and destroying police equipment of their most important defenders/protectors etc.
The second hypocrisy came from whites who wanted to show solidarity with the plight of blacks they seldom have any contact with or actually care about. To show their "fides" they too joined in destroying black neighborhoods and black merchant's stores and throwing rocks at black and white police.
To demonstrate their love of their black brothers, white got down on their knees, washed the feet of some blacks and set in motion defunding police who protect black neighborhoods from crime perpetrated by other blacks who use blacks for target practice.
Now I know being PC is in style and that is why I tend not to buy into this kind of crap but I would love to hear from my liberal friends the rationale for what I have described above because I care about being a good citizen and do not want to miss an opportunity to throw a brick through a window and/ or spit on a public servant.

Ross Rants:
Don’t let the press reports about the surge in new cases dissuade you from understanding
what is happening. It is likely to be mid-August before we see a peaking in this surge.
There are a lot more cases because there is a lot more testing, a lot of protests, but also
because a lot of people do not want to follow mask and other guidelines, but that will not
necessarily make a huge dent in the economic recovery. It is a largely lot younger
cohort testing positive, and so hospitalizations, while rising, are not leading to the death
rates we saw in NY. Despite rising cases deaths remain flat or declining. The patients
are younger and the therapies far more effective. There will not be any more total
lockdowns. There will be hits to bars, inside restaurants, gyms, and some large venue
locations like movies, concerts, etc, but these are not a major impact on GDP.
What is concerning is CA, TX and FL account for 30% of GDP, so how well they deal
with the virus does matter. We will have to see how much further this spreads, and how
well it is contained. The risk is whether they will be able to contain this surge, and how
it causes people to be afraid to go shopping and eating out. Here in the Hamptons,
where there had been a total lockdown earlier, life is sort of back to normal. Shops are
open and busy. Food is easy to get from various delivery services where we can order a
week worth of food and get it delivered to the house, or go to their local pick up spot.
We can get any type of food or groceries this way in almost any quantity. Otherwise
people wear masks and life goes on. I suspect the restaurants are still suffering as they
only have outdoor dining and there is not a lot of space in town for a lot of tables. There
is not a rental home available as lots of people from Manhattan rushed here in March
and never left. The school system I hear is getting lots of new kids signed up who were
from Manhattan.
The number of laid off workers who now have no job to go back to due to business
failures has been rising, and will rise further. On the other hand, a considerable number
of businesses are saying they need workers, but can’t convince them to come back until
the $600 is ended. Some employers are reporting that some workers are claiming for
unemployment even though they are employed. Clearly the state systems are not modern
enough to detect fraud like this. Hard to say yet what the effect really will be of the
surge in cases. While we hear about ICU beds reaching capacity, a doctor who has
researched what is really happening says the problem is not just Covid, but all the people
who did not have procedures during the shut down and are now in the hospital due to
catching up on elective surgery, or due to complications that arose from not getting
treated during the lockdown. One more reason that the raw numbers the press reports
are misleading.
While the surge is serious, it is very hard to tell from press reports exactly what is really
happening, and what is the real impact on the economy. There is no question the rebound
will be slower than first hoped. One result is that the $600 will be reduced to $300 by
Congress, and the period will get extended. Growth in GDP in Q3 is more likely to be
17% than 20%. Areas of concern are local governments are in fiscal trouble, and so will
be cutting government jobs. They need to get things reopened to get the tax revenue they
need, which is one reason for the rush to reopen. The other issue is the federal deficit is now far too high, but there is no good choices other than more fiscal stimulus for now. In an election year Washington loves to give away your money.
The May error in the unemployment reporting has been fixed, and the June number is a
good number. Keep in mind that it is done on the 12th of the month and a lot more
businesses reopened as the month of June went on. More will be open on July 12th, and
even more on August 12. The $600 impacted over 60% of the unemployed. That means
the August number should be very strong as these people go back to work. 80% of small
business is now reopened, and as people get more comfortable returning to work and
shopping, demand will increase and jobs will increase. The especially good signs are
that hospitality and retail saw very large increases in employment in June, and now with
oil back over $40, Texas will see some improvement in high paying jobs.
The shale business will remain under pressure as pumping volumes remain around 10
million barrels a day vs the 13 million before, so rig counts will remain lower and no
new wells will be drilled. The recent court rulings on the pipelines will cost a lot of jobs. Hopefully an appeals court will reverse that quickly. Keep in mind the death rate is down 39% despite cases increasing. Out of 40 million tests there are relatively very few deaths anymore. However, we still
do not know the lasting damage to a person even if seemingly fully recovered. In a new
report the layoffs are now back to the level they were at in January and February, before
Corona. There are also 5 million unfilled jobs right now.
I believe, most people have every intention of getting back their lives, even if it means
wearing a mask, and being careful. For example, I note that here in the Hamptons, we
are back playing doubles, and we just wear masks when hanging out at the clubhouse.
There are a lot of older people at my club, and they are mostly back on the court and
maintaining distance rules. Some are slow to return, but as the weeks go by, more and
more do, and that to me is a indicator of how the much of the rest of the country is
returning-mostly carefully, but returning. So, if we added 4.8 Million jobs in mid-June,
we could have 5-6 million jobs return in July and 6-7 million in August as the $600
disappears. If that happens, unemployment could potentially be back around 6-7% or so
by fall if TX, FL, and CA can get the new surge under control. One of the Fed presidents
said 7% is possible. Maybe.
One of the big factors which will help is that consumers debt is as low as its been in 11
years as to percent of use of credit available under credit cards and lines of credit. It is
20% of available credit. Consumers also have a lot of cash now due to no place to spend
it, continued low gas prices, the $1200 + $500 per kid subsidy, and the $600. They will
start to spend it soon, as pent up demand has shown when the $600 began being paid, it
was often spent on a new TV or other non-essential items. The spend number will be a
little volatile for a while as people cautiously return to shopping. The Fed continues to
be extremely supportive, banks have lots of cash to lend at historically low rates, but are
being very careful who they lend to, the new housing market is now taking off as rates
remain so low and as people leave NYC and Chicago and similar urban places that have
become crime ridden and poorly managed again. Mortgage apps are up 33% from one
year ago, and 5% for the week. That is great for the economy.
There is a decrease in people using mortgage forbearance, and one-third paying anyway
while using the forbearance program. The recession is over. For the moment I remain
100% in US equities. My portfolio is up 14.8% year to date, on top of up 33% in 2019.
How is your money manager doing for you with his “balanced portfolio”, or target date
strategy, or annuities? And I pay nobody any fees- I use Schwab, and almost never trade. I just play tennis while I make money. Pick good solid US equities, like APPL, AMZN, HD, MSFT,TMO, ROP, ADBE, and go have fun doing something other than trading stocks, and pay no fees to
anyone for bad advice. There is no magic or special smarts to this.
ESG portfolios re all the rage now. Those are supposedly portfolios of stocks where the
companies are adhering to the leftist ideas of environment and governance etc. My view
is, you invest in well run, strong companies with strong balance sheets and strong
brands. Well run companies generally act properly anyway, but the main thing they do is
make growing profits. That is what buying stocks is all about. It is not about morality,
or political correctness. Everyone knows you don’t dump toxic chemicals or pollute the air anymore. You don’t produce defective products. You pay well to get the best workers. Fossil fuel use is not going away. Those are just good business policies. All this ESG investing to me is just a fad,
and a marketing ploy by fund managers.
Taking all of this into account, we might have a V recovery after all, and the stock
market might rise even further. It will be much more clear at the end of July which way
we are going. If Trump gets a much revised campaign strategy, and lays out his plans for
the next four years, and contrasts his policies with Biden and Pelosi, Durham starts
indicting in August, and the involvement goes all the way up in the White House, and
then the debates happen and Joe looks like the bumbling fool he is, then Trump can
recoup and win. He is way ahead on the economy vs Joe, so if the recovery is strong, he
has a real chance. His big issue is him. I know a lot of very smart, successful people who
will lose very big if Joe and the Dems get control, but they still say they hate Trump, and
his lack of good character, and will not vote for him. It astounds me that they do not
understand how the economy and the country will be wrecked if Biden, Warren, the
bartender from the Bronx and Pelosi are in charge. Biden has stated he wants to
transform America. Life would change in ways that are very destructive to those of us
who are successful, as well as for the poor who will not have jobs due to a crashed
economy. Trump may be a bad guy, as I have often said, but he is far better than if the
Dems are in charge. Keep in mind what Robert Gates keeps saying, Biden has been
wrong on every foreign policy issue for 40 years, and he is someone who knows as well
as anyone, and not a Trump supporter.
You may not have noted that Trump has been criticized by Biden, the Dems, and the
press for not mandating rules for the virus and masks. Now he is demanding schools
reopen and Cuomo says the president has no authority to mandate rules for school
reopening. So which is it.
The shooting mayhem continues across the country in major cities run by Dem mayors.
Nobody is a victim of cops shooting them. Shootings in NYC are racing back to the bad
era of the seventies before Giuliani. It is black on black. The shooters seem not to care
who dies-kids, little girls, makes no difference it seems. Then when the cops arrive
nobody will talk, so the mayhem goes on. The mayors seem to not want to do what is
needed-more cops and aggressive policing with stop and frisk. That would be deemed
racist, so better to have dead bodies strewn about the neighborhood. Nobody seems to
point out in the press that this surge in shootings has happened as the mayors and
governors told the cops to ease up, and they are cutting police budgets. Nobody in the
press has made the point that this criminality is unrelated to racism or bad cops. It is
black on black murder. Nobody has made the point that this is happening in black
communities, not anywhere else. And they wonder why cops are very on edge in black
communities.
Who is creating the image of blacks are criminals. Not the cops, or the media, or Trump.
The shooters have blown it for police reform. Only the mayor of Atlanta has made the
point that it is blacks killing blacks, and it has to stop, but she was the one who instantly
blamed the cops in the Wendy’s shooting, and helped incite violence by that. Now it is
so bad the national guard had to be called in. What you do hear is, it is the fault of
racism, not enough welfare, poor schools, they need more money in black
neighborhoods, etc. Well there has been trillions poured into these neighborhoods, and
the cities and police departments are run by blacks, or left wingers like DeBozzo.
There are no Republicans or conservatives who are mayors where the killing is
happening. It therefore must be Trump’s fault. Then we have DeBozzo declaring the
Jews could not have a large funeral, or use a playground in Brooklyn, but big protests
are encouraged. The man is so stupid it defies explanation. The demands for his recall
are growing very loud. The point is what I have said. It needs a culture change and
nuclear families, and more cops being aggressive, with aggressive DA’s who put people
in jail and keep them there. Cuomo’s bail reform has simply served to get a lot more
crime, and dead blacks. The blacks are going to hopefully realize they need to clean up
their communities, and they need more, not fewer cops. Maybe Cuomo will wake up
and change bail reform before NYC is again turned into a crime ridden city like under
Dinkins.
In today WSJ, Heather MacDonald wrote that a study that was objectively done by
Michigan and Maryland academics, and heavily peer reviewed before it was published,
was now withdrawn because Heather cited it in an op ed. It makes the point after
extensive research that there is no racial disparity in police shooting of blacks. In short,
all the BLM and press and political rhetoric is simply not backed by data and facts. It
was withdrawn because the university cancel culture screamed and once again heads
rolled, and academic freedom of speech and research has been killed. Now research has
to conclude what the mob decides the outcome will be before the research is done. The
worst part is the university went along with this cancel and demoted the department
head for approving the funding of the research. At Marquette, the school threatened to
revoke an admission of a freshman this week because she posted a video favorable to
Trump and her support for him. If this does not scare the crap out of you, nothing will.
Add this to the forced resignations of editors at the NYT and Inquirer and you now live
in Nazi Germany. Do you hear anything from the press or Dems on this --------. Our
basic values of freedom, the entire underlying foundation Jefferson said made us
exceptional, are being demolished.
The squad has just drawn up a bill for the House that would close prisons, defund police,
end DEA, end all types of police surveillance, and pay reparations. It would end use of
ankle bracelets and any other type of system to track criminals, and it would do away
with all illegal immigration laws and ICE. This will never pass, but it shows the level of
stupidity, or better said, insanity, that resides in the House these days, and how far left
the Dems have gone. All while little black girls are getting shot. You can’t wrap your
brain around this stuff. Wait until Republicans use this as the way the Congress will go
if Biden and Dems win. By the way, a group of Dems are trying to cancel any debates
for Biden since they know he will really blow it when there is no teleprompter.
Last week Settle held a class for all white city employees to tell them they need to
sacrifice all things to become non-racist, including promotions and personal safety. It
just gets increasingly insane in these left wing cities.
If you are not really informed as to who BLM is, they are, by their own admission and
statements, a Marxist group bent on destruction of capitalism and the America we know.
They have said that publicly. A 2015 Dem Congressional memo labeled BLM as a radical group. You hear none of that from them now. The press and big city mayors, politicians and even CEOs have made BLM seem legitimate, which is incredible. An arm of the DNC raises millions for them.
The college kids don’t get it at all, and are fed the Kool Aid by their professors. BLM are a very dangerous group for America. They managed to turn the death of Floyd into a cause, and make him a hero, and make themselves a lot of money. Two people sent me what is supposedly the autopsy
report findings. “No life threatening injuries identified.” If it is the actual results, then he
did not die from the knee on the neck. He had various drugs in his system and was very
drunk, and he had other serious health issues. If this is really the autopsy results, then the
trial will be very messy. If true- the cop did not directly cause his death. If true, and the
cops are cleared of the murder charges, it will be Rodney King revisited. It will explode.
This is what happens when the press and politicians rush to judgment. I am not excusing
the cop for his terrible action, but we need to investigate before we charge cops, just like
anyone else. Atlanta is another perfect example of rush to judgment for political reasons.
By trashing cops and ordering them to hold back, the mayors have essentially told the
thugs it is OK now to do what you want, and that results in shootings, burglaries, and
other violent crime skyrocketing. The thugs know from the statements of politicians that
the cops are held back, and they can get away with murder-literally. The Dem politicians
seem not to understand that when they attack cops, and blame police, and defund police
they are telling the bad guys -go for it. This is exactly what BLM wants- defund the cops.
One of the leaders of BLM just released their plan to eliminate all police. All prisons.
Their pitch is give us all the money now spent on cops and prisons and use it in the
“community” and we will no longer need cops, just mental health workers. They also
demand we close all US military bases outside the US and give them that money. There
is more but you get the concept. You can’t make up this kind of insanity, and then the
kiddies fall for it and support it. And these are college educated kids. This is what
American universities are turning out today
While all this is happening, the situation in Hong Kong is now at a major turning point.
China has seized total control, and we will see how many HK Chinese leave, and if the
city can continue to function as the major capital market of Asia dealing with China. It
all depends on how the EU and Asian nations handle this. China is instituting various
financial tools to bring capital to HK. They just set up Wealth Management Connect to
allow mainland Chinese to use HK as a wealth management and banking center. They
are trying to get foreign banks to stay or come in to take advantage of all those cash
deposits. They are also stepping up a push to do IPOs. The US and UK are in the lead
clamping down on HK, but let’s see who else has the guts to follow us in taking action
against China. My guess is not many.
China will likely get away with this for now, but the young people of HK are going to
revolt at some point, or just leave. This is going to get very ugly over time. Note that
they started to remove “offending” books from the libraries. Reminds me of what has
been happening on American campuses, and with films like Gone With The Wind
which is one of the greatest American movies ever made. The press now conforms to
left wing ideology. How is this different than what we see in HK. At the same time,
Kim is waiting to see if Biden wins, and he can get sanctions lifted. Iran is likely biding
its time to see if Biden wins and reinstates the nuke deal, and lifts sanctions, just when
they are having a crushing impact. Just as Obama did. The world is waiting to see how
the election goes. They are all pushing for Biden so they can again run rampant as they
did under Obama. The whole world has a tremendous amount at stake in November.
It is interesting to note that there is now a letter from 150 authors and others asking that
the cancel culture stop. They finally got it that it will directly impact their ability to sell
books and movies. Funny how money talks.
Trump keeps hurting himself. He gave a great speech at Mt Rushmore, and then Biden
says he wants to transform America. So Trump blows a great opportunity to attack by
instead attacking the NASCAR driver and NASCAR. He blew a golden opportunity to
go after Biden, and the press, but chose nonsense instead. The press attacked the speech,
and once again proved they write opinions from the left, and not the news. There is
almost no press remaining. Just a bunch of college kids writing left wing opinions. The
editors have now been shown they need to just shut up or they get run out. When are
editors going to have balls and defend the free press.
I believe we have the freedom of opportunity to succeed or fail by our own efforts, and
not the guarantee that anyone else will subsidize me because I am too lazy to get
educated, or to apply myself to earning a living. I, and most of my friends, are living
proof that you can start with nothing, and if you try hard, you too can succeed without
the government helping.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Mr. President I have written a speech I wish you and your speech writers would/should
consider because I believe it, or a semblance, needs to be given.
Mr. President I have written a speech I wish you and your speech writers would/should
consider because I believe it, or a semblance, needs to be given.
My fellow citizens,
this speech is out of character for me. I am going to let my hair down
and
reveal a different Trump to you tonight.
I know I have turned
off a lot of Americans because of my Tweeting, because of my
language,
because I do not come across as presidential. I also know, when you elected
me, you had reservations because I was not a politician, I
was/am a fighter and I was/am
not orthodox in my executive style.
I admit to not always
thinking through what I say. I also admit to blurting out my first
reaction. I
am a doer type and quite often, if you are honest yourself, I, more than
not, do
not always do what I say. Actually my actions are quite measured
once I get what
bothers me off my chest. Again I am not a smooth talking politician. I am a brash New
York Real Estate Mogul serving in a political role and I love America.
bothers me off my chest. Again I am not a smooth talking politician. I am a brash New
York Real Estate Mogul serving in a political role and I love America.
I believe most
everyone who can, wants to work, wants to provide, wants to be a good
citizen and has pride in themselves. Therefore, I thought the
best thing I could do for
"all" Americans is not accept
Obama/Biden's new norm when it came to a flailing
economy so I
set about to try and elevate our economy so more jobs would be
available,
convinced higher pay would ultimately follow and this
would also give more Americans
mobility if
they felt trapped in their current job. In other words, they would
have job
opportunities again and choice. Something, by the way, I
believe we owe our school
children because choice is synonymous with
freedom.
Not being a political
type, I also believed it was important to do what I said when I
campaigned. I thought
that would build confidence in what voters were understandably
concerned about me. As you know we were doing fine
economically until the virus
came along.
To lift the economy
beyond the historically low 2% level I inherited, I cut taxes. There
are those
who claim I did so for the rich but the rich are the ones who have capital
to
invest so jobs are created. I also cut red tape and illogical
regulations that were
strangling incentives. Finally, I let
corporations repatriate overseas earnings at more
favorable rates.
The hope was that stagnant capital would find its way back home. The
tax
reform also allowed companies who bought capital equipment to
depreciate it in the
year of purchase.
Rich capitalists were therefore,
incentivized to buy new and more efficient equipment
which resulted in jobs to
make products that were more competitive, which enticed
buyers and this also
helped increase jobs.
These proved to be
good decisions because goals were met, ie. the economy rose, many
rich capitalists
(industrialists) reinvested in America, job opportunities returned
home
and wages eventually expanded.
I have been in office
a little over 3 years and during that time I have been attacked
incessantly every
day for something I said, Tweeted or did. My entire family has been
smeared
and the mass media have had a field day doing everything they can to make
me
hated so I will be defeated? Why? Because I also pledged to
drain the swamp, to
change
the way those in power
have run America into the ground for decades. I find this
has been one of
the most intractable undertakings of my entire life because no one likes
to have undeserved candy taken away – particularly entrenched politicians
who love
power.
I won't go into more
detail about what I have done to make the playing field more level
for America when it comes to our allies paying their fair share,
which was already
agreed upon, nor will I review my efforts
at making our trade deals fairer and finally I
will not re-hash how I believe we have allowed ourselves to be taken
advantage of by
China. Previous presidents believed allowing China to
join the World Trade
Organization would incentivize them to become more
democratic. Not only has this not
happened, China set about to take
advantage of the West's good faith gesture.
I do not blame China
for acting as they have since their goal is to remain Communists,
control and
dictate commerce, the open seas and enhance their stature at everyone’s
expense. The CCP has no intention of allowing their citizens the freedoms
Americans
enjoy and now, we see, neither will they allow those living in Hong
Kong to be free.
Our way of life, our Constitution threatens those who believe
in Communism.
I have no animus
towards the Chinese and I hope and pray I can build/maintain a
working
relationship with N Korea, China, Russia, even Iran. However, since America’s
goal is not domination and we live in a world where others do aspire to
dominate, we
must keep our guard up, not allow ourselves to be patsies and
lamentably, as Regan
said, we must verify before we trust.
Our nation and
corporate world have too much evidence we are under constant cyber
attacks,
theft and subject to dishonorable trade practices. Like it or not, we must/have
change(d) our thinking and ways
of doing business with those who want to spread their
influence and will
embrace/employ any means at their disposal.
Playing poker with
those whose intent is to cheat presents many
challenges.
As for the
Corona-virus: It came out of the blue/red and we were not prepared.
medically speaking, we had little knowledge
of what we were about to face and we were
under-equipped in many ways. Mistakes
were made but many more right decisions
were also made. The balance has always been between safety
first, then economics. As
we made progress on the safety front, gained knowledge
and established a sounder/
reliable statistical base we began to/must turn our attention
to the economic side of the
challenge.
Mistakes may still be made
because we are constantly dealing with a world of
uncertainty but we must do everything
we can, that also encompasses safety, in order to
re-open America’s powerful
economic spigots so we can achieve a semblance of
normalcy. It is my goal/pledge
to do just that and one of the essential risks we must take
is to return our
kids to school.
Finally, a word about
the election. I have been criticized because I have not fallen for
what I
believe is hypocrisy/insanity and here I am referring to the way Democrat
Mayors
have allowed their cities to be taken over by anarchists, thugs, looters and
rioters. I will not name anyone because you know the
cities I am talking about.
Again I have been criticized for not healing and yet, my Rushmore speech was tempered
and I was blatantly attacked. I honestly believe it should be evident the opposition is
not loyal and has no interest in becoming so because I beat their anointed and they cannot
accept defeat with grace.
Again I have been criticized for not healing and yet, my Rushmore speech was tempered
and I was blatantly attacked. I honestly believe it should be evident the opposition is
not loyal and has no interest in becoming so because I beat their anointed and they cannot
accept defeat with grace.
I believe law and order
are the only conditions that allow everyone to have a fair playing
field and
opportunity. Rich and poor must obey the law, everyone who drives, regardless
of the car, must obey speed limits. Law is our great equalizer. I only wish it were equally
applied.
applied.
I have tried to send a
clear message to the mayors of the cities in question as well as to
the nation,
as a whole, about what I expect. Again, I have been restrained and I have
been praiseworthy of those who engage in peaceful protest. This is the American Way.
If you profess to love America then you must treat America accordingly.
been praiseworthy of those who engage in peaceful protest. This is the American Way.
If you profess to love America then you must treat America accordingly.
This is why I will not
tolerate destruction of Federal Property. I will not abide those who
want to
rewrite America’s history. I am all for change where change is called for and
implemented through proper channels and means. The great thing about America, unlike
so many other nations, is America is always in a state of change striving to
become a
more perfect union.
There is much about
our history that was wrong and/or misguided and we must learn
from our
mistakes. What must remain, and not change, is our adherence to our Bill of
Rights and Constitutional dictates. America was founded on several basic
inalienable
principles. We derived our rights from God and government exists to
serve the people.
This is why so many seek to come. As you know, I believe they
must do so legally and
yes, our immigration laws need revision.
No one should doubt my
love of America, that I spend every day awed by the greatness
of our nation and
its people and remain committed to serving to the best of my ability.
It would be nice if some
who hate me cut me some slack because I am who I am but I
remain upbeat
notwithstanding, what is placed on my plate each day. I wish more judged
me by
accomplishments.
Again thanks for
electing me. I hope you will re-elect me so I and my assembled team
can finish
the commitment of returning America to Greatness. May God Bless each and
every American and May
God continue to Bless America.
Thank you and good evening.
