Portland, A Lousy Role Model. More.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Last night, despite unusual Savannah weather we went to hear our glorious Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor, Keitaro Harada, is fabulous. he also conducts the Tokyo Symphony.

He is energetic and has created an entire array of concerts that appeal to a variety of those who hunger for culture and has focused on our youth. Last night's concert featured an all Rachmaninoff program played by Sir Stephen Hough who also was marvelous. In the first part of the program, Hough played both The Overture followed by the Piano Concerto No. 2 op, 18, c minor (33)and after the intermission played Piano Concerto no. 3, op 30 D Minor (39).

For an encore, he played Chopin. Again with a delicate touch. What a glorious evening evening, though I had real issues breathing.

Savannah is known for it's historic downtown and classical homes and Squares. We are the first planned city. It has also become a "foodie" town challenging Charleston.

We have not been downtown in the evening in a long time and Savannah is tracking Portland because the homeless are beginning to take over sleeping in the  doorways etc. If this culture spreads I dare say it will wreck our civil town and when the first episode occurs that will begin a  downhill slide that may not be reversible. How tragic that will be.

Savannah has a fine Mayor who has done an effective job considering the "yahoos" on the City Commission but the city manager controls pretty much what goes on in terms of trends, the police response etc.

Caveat emptor store owners.  You need to be more proactive and are lagging ominous trends. Get off your butts and insist change. Portland is a lousy role model.

I added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin ..

Allow me to restate that number: 600,000!

Over the last several months, Wisconsin 's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.

(That's more men under arms than in Iran . More than France and Germany combined. )

These men, deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and NO

ONE WAS KILLED.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan 's

700,000 hunters, ALL OF WHOM HAVE RETURNED HOME SAFELY.

Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of

those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world.

And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states.

It's millions more.

________ The point? _______________________________________

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower!

Hunting... it's not just a way to fill the freezer.

It's a matter of national security.

***************************************

That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.

Food for thought, when next we consider gun control, whether you agree with it or not.

Overall it's true, so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters don't possess the same skills as soldiers,

the question would still remain...

What army of 2 million would want to face 30 million, 40 million, or 50 million armed citizens???

For the sake of our freedom, don't ever allow gun control or confiscation of guns.

(IF YOU AGREE, AS I DO, PASS IT ON. I FEEL GOOD THAT I HAVE AN ARMY OF MILLIONS WHO

WOULD PROTECT OUR LAND, AND I SURE DON'T WANT THE GOVERNMENT TAKING CONTROL

OF THE POSSESSION OF FIREARMS.)

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

And that doesn't count the number of legal "concealed carry" who aren't hunters!

IDF: Israeli jets hit underground Hamas facility in central Gaza
Military says attack in response to rocket fire Saturday; warning sirens blare in Sderot,
Kibbutz Nir Am, near Palestinian enclave
By ToI StaffToday,

Israeli fighter jets targeted an underground weapon materials facility in the central Gaza Strip
overnight Sunday-Monday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, adding that the attack came
in response to a rocket launch from the Hamas-ruled Palestinian enclave on Saturday evening,
intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system.
The military said in a short statement early Monday that the facility produced raw materials to
make rockets and was run by the Hamas terror group.
The attack on the underground facility “harms” Hamas’ ability to produce weapons, the IDF said.
Shortly after the military confirmed the attack, rocket warning sirens blared in southern Israeli
communities near the Gaza Strip, including Sderot and Kibbutz Nir Am.
The military also said a separate alert system warning of possible infiltration from Gaza went off
and Israeli forces were verifying the cause.
On Saturday night, the IDF said a single rocket from Gaza was downed by the Iron Dome air defense system.
The rocket fire came amid heightened tensions in the region, and a day after three Israelis — including two young
siblings aged five and seven — were killed in a car-ramming terror attack in East Jerusalem on Friday.
Tensions have been high as the IDF has pressed on with an anti-terror offensive mostly focused on the northern
West Bank to deal with a series of attacks that have left 31 people in Israel dead in 2022, and another ten since
the beginning of the year.
The IDF’s operation has netted more than 2,500 arrests in near-nightly raids. It also left 171 Palestinians dead in
2022, and another 43 since the beginning of the year, many of them while carrying out attacks or during clashes
with security forces, though some were uninvolved civilians.

The military said in its statement Monday that it holds Hamas responsible for “security violations” against the State
of Israel.
