Sweet Tammy Rocks!

As noted in my prior memo Bernie Marcus spoke about the difficulty of the small business owner.

Well it is tough, the hours are long, the financial risks are great but the satisfaction of a job well done can be worth it so I thought this unsolicited comment demanded posting.

Sweet Tammy began two years ago. They have about 8 employees and have just begun to become cash flow positive. They did it through hard work, enormous spirit responsive service and by making a marvelous product. So it can be done. Nevertheless, being in the food business with the rigorous regulations they have to endure, though understandable, makes it tough.

The local bank has been supportive and they have supplemented with their own capital and family support.

ST has begun penetrating Giant Eagle, are exclusive bakers to the Zoo and Aquarium, serve the student body at University of Pittsburgh, have a KIOSK in the local JCC and bake cakes for weddings and other events while serving a growing walk in clientele.

They are desirous of building a national brand and have begun 'feelers' with other national outlets.

ST has a dedicated loyal staff who work hard under pressured circumstances and who love the opportunity of having steady work and being part of a start-up business begun by those their own age.

This is what being a small business owner is all about and if there is any downside it is the stifling impact of government, onerous and stupid regulations, crushing taxes and additional crippling fickle sundry costs.

As Marcus said in his appearance on Squawk Box, it would be nice if Obama's Czars and Czarinas, virtually all who came from academia, had any real world experience and knew what they were doing.

It might even be refreshing if their boss knew what he was doing as well.

If that were the case our nation would be on the upswing but then Congress remains Punch to insure Judy toes the line and gets a her daily clobbering.(See 1 below.)

A HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEAR (5771) TO ALL!

1)Dear Daniel and Tammy,

I really don't know how to adequately convey to you two (and Solomon)
how nice it is to be working with a team like yours. Every one of the
products I have ordered to date have been top-notch. The only thing that
steals the spot-light from your delicious baked goods is the superior
service and helpful attitude you show us every day we work together. You
guys "do the dance" VERY well and have managed to complete some fairly
large orders in record time for our guests and that means all the world in
this business no matter HOW good the product is. Take it from your
friendly neighborhood Goyum, you guys ROCK 24/6 !

respectfully and gratefully yours,
