I understand a lot of those who believed Trump was the president we needed for a variety of reasons and are disappointed in him personally but not so much in what he is trying to accomplish under difficult circumstances.

I am posting my thoughts and comparisons that might be of interest with respect to a variety of issues but certainly not all:

Conclusion:   

There is no doubt Trump's combative and defensive personality has turned off a lot of people and justifiably so.  On the other hand, he has been unduly attacked simply because he won over an inadequate candidate who happened to get more votes but lacked the constitutional requisite number of  electoral votes.

Trump entered the Oval Office and set about to carry out campaign promises which were driven by a strong ideology based on his view that we have been and/or allowed ourselves to be taken advantage of and  the consequences of these negative trends needed to be reversed.   

He was very disturbed when it came to trade disparities, illegal immigration because of unsecured borders , attacks on energy development which kept us hostage to foreign sources, a military capability in decline and under-funded, allies which were not carrying their commitments and an economy overburdened by red tape and tax restrictions among other matters.

Trump's implementation of his campaign promises based on "Making America Great Again" created several problems:

a) they took the nation and mass media by surprise because most campaign promises are seldom believed .

b) by making a concerted effort to carry out his campaign promises Trump stepped on a lot of toes among our allies as well as our adversaries.  His brashness and arrogance added to the negative reactions because our allies were being let off the hook, commitment wise, and now were being told  "toe the line."  Meanwhile, our adversaries, particularly China, were stealing out intellectual property and restricting mutual trade while we were allowing them to take advantage.

The person who shakes up the status quo most likely will not be patted on his/her back. Add to this  when such is caused by someone like Trump, a brash New York Real Estate Developer, whose domestic mass media is also unalterably opposed to everything he is attempting to do, this simply gives additional support to both America's adversaries and allies.

I daresay a vast majority of Americans are comfortable with Trump's policies but are uncomfortable with him and cannot separate the man from what he does because the mass media shapes their thinking and he provides a significant amount of  nails.

Another, more subtle factor is at work against Trump and the Oval Office.  I believe when Clinton was asked about what type underwear he wore, and played the Saxophone on TV  whether he or the public realized it at the time, these events lowered the respect for The Oval Office and the occupant.  Consequently, yesterday we have the former Secretary of State being interviewed about his brief time of service and he unloaded.  In doing this, in my opinion, he did not reflect well on himself and Trump's response Tweet was equally out of bounds and mean spirited

If this is not bad enough we also have Government Agencies that have been directed by liars whose efforts to cover up their misdeeds has increased our disgust and here I am referring to former Atty. Gen. Holder and the head of the IRS.  Add to this the fact Trump's opponent set about to engage in activities that were illegal to prevent  his victory and were then supported by senior  members of our nation's FBI and select national security agencies and the stench that hangs over his presidency is beyond comprehension.

I am not excusing mistakes Trump has made though I am willing to give him more leeway because he came into The Oval Office with no government experience and/or contacts among the establishment who control and run government and saw a Trump Presidency as a threat to their lust to retain their  power.

Trump's inexperience and personality may lead to some difficulties but those who engaged in activities, and continue to do so,  against him, and the list is long, are far more a threat to the health of our Republic.

Should the wheels come off Trump's policy initiatives, I hope I will recognize this and will recant but until such time as that becomes evident I will continue to separate Trump from his policies.

I did not care for Clinton but thought his overall Presidency was a good one.

In the case of GW, I believe he is a good man but made mistakes that we are still paying for because he made some bad appointments and did not understand the tribal hatred between The Sunni and Shia.

As for Obama, I believe those who read my memos know I think he was a total disaster domestically as well as with respect to his foreign policy initiatives.
