Did you know that many Arab Muslims serve proudly in Israel’s military? Does that surprise you? Very likely, it does—but it shouldn’t. Mohammad Kabiya, a Bedouin, an Arab, and a Muslim, volunteered to serve in Israel’s Air Force. Why? Because Israel is his homeland, and because Israel has given him opportunities he never would have had living in the Gaza Strip or West Bank—or in any of the other Muslim countries in the Middle East. See Mohammad’s story in our new video.

A letter a dear friend and fellow memo reader sent to me. It is a good letter and thus I believe bears posting. (See 2 below.)
I would like to add, those who are accused of inappropriate sexual behaviour, if they acknowledge or are proven to have been engaged in such, should be forced to resign and if they converted public money to benefit themselves, legal charges should be brought against them. If they are found guilty they should serve time. I can think of no better way to send a clear message that this behaviour is over.
The idea that they should reimburse the public out of their pocket is nonsense. The fact that they can remain in office is nonsense. Apologies are nice, accepting responsibility is nice but so what.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Over the years the quality of candidates for Congress seems to have declined. Initially the Founding Fathers believed Senators should be elected by State Legislatures and the public should elect their Representatives. The president was elected by The Electoral College. This was a republican system not a democratic one. The reason was to deal with the excesses of democracy. Underlying our system was a hope voting citizens would be enlightened and informed.
Eventually members of the Senate came to be elected by the citizenry. Political parties sprang into being to assist and educate the public. The results have proven mixed. Nominations generally do not bring out a large number of voters and the upper hand resides with those already serving.
What our government is all about has been harmed by a general decline in public education, lack of voter participation and a mass media that does less to educate than to attack. Furthermore, entertainment has risen at the cost of informing and media bias has been allowed to creep into the process.
I submit the picture is not a healthy one and it is little wonder the Nunn's ,Coverdell's, Moynihan's , Baker's etc. have been replaced by the Franken's, Warren's , Obama's and Sanders' etc.
The decline in the quality of those who are offering to serve and those elected transcends both aisles.
Our Republic is now mostly being run and controlled by third raters and Conyers' and Franken's refusal to resign is simply another manifestation of what is wrong and why voters have, justifiably, lost faith in their government Pelosi's defense of Conyers was pitiful. She praised him for being an icon. The man is a lout who allowed power to go to his head and distort his reason for being. As for Franken, he has always been a buffoon and being a Senator is an oxymoronic happening.
More and more what happens in D.C and the risk of having your reputation destroyed is also causing a lot of very qualified to seek other employment.
Sadly enough we have the best government money can buy.

Report: Israel vows to destroy Iranian positions within 40 km of Syrian border
When I look at the current GOP, I'm struck by a comparison that I recently heard. This is a basketball example that really does reflect what the GOP appears to be today. The metaphor is the Harlem Globetrotters and the Washington Generals. The Democrats are the Globetrotters and the GOP are proud to be the Washington Generals. The Generals know going into the game that they are going to lose, but it's a nice gig and they get to be on the court with the big boys. The GOP and The Washington Generals don't mind losing - they just want to be in the game! Sound familiar?

Report: Israel vows to destroy Iranian positions within 40 km of Syrian border
By SHOSHANA KRANISH
|
Syrian President Bashar Assad reportedly offered Netanyahu a comprehensive deal that would include a demilitarized zone stretching 40 kilometers from the border. Kuwaiti newspaper Al Jarida revealed on Sunday that an Israeli source disclosed a promise from Jerusalem to destroy all Iranian facilities within 40 kilometers (25 miles) of Israel's Golan Heights.
The source, who remains unnamed, said that during Syrian President Bashar Assad's surprise visit to Russia last week, Assad gave Russian Premier Vladimir Putin a message for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: Damascus will agree to a demilitarized zone of up to 40 kilometers from the border in the Golan Heights as part of a comprehensive agreement between the two countries, but only if Israel does not work to remove Assad's regime from power.
The report also claims that Putin then called Netanyahu to relay the message, and that the Israeli prime minister said he would be willing to accept the deal, but that Israel's goal of eradicating Iran and Hezbollah from the country would remain.
According to the source, Jerusalem sees Assad as the last president of the Alawite community, indicating that a change of regime in Syria - at least towards a government less-linked to Iran - would be favorable for Israel. The Alawites are a minority Shi'ite community in Syria, and have long been supported by Iran, which seeks to extend its influence from the Gulf across the region to the Mediterranean.
The source also commented that after the defeat of the Islamic State, the conflict in Syria would become ''more difficult,'' likely pointing towards a vacuum that would be left without the group. Russian, Syrian and Iranian-backed forces have been fighting against ISIS, while also seeking to knock out rebel groups that oppose the current regime. Russia's stated interests have been in line with Iran's in wanting to keep Assad in power.
Israel has participated mostly on the periphery of the war in Syria, responding to fire on the northern border and occasionally bombing positions, including a weapons depot and scientific research center that allegedly produces chemical weapons. Damascus and Jerusalem have exchanged heated remarks as well, with Netanyahu threatening to bomb Assad's palace, and Syrian officials warning of ''dangerous repercussions'' to Israeli strikes on Syrian targets.
Over the course of the war, Israel has operated several field hospitals near the Syrian border, where those injured from the war are treated and subsequently returned to Syria. Some of those who have been treated have been rebels fighting against the Assad regime, leading some to say that Israel is assisting the rebels to unseat Assad.

Gentlemen: I'm a 68 year old Vietnam Vet and retired 3M Executive. I am on the verge of leaving the Grand Old Party. No big deal for you - huge deal for me. I have come nearly to the end of my loyalty to a party that seems to have lost its backbone.
The lack of leadership displayed by the two of you -- for whatever reason you've decided to not support or defend the duly elected President of the United States -- is beyond me.
Yes, President Trump is not the typical political bureaucrat, but he is the President of the United States. It appears from where I sit that you both have decided to lay down on the job you've been elected to serve. The 60 Million + people that voted this President into office made this decision based upon the absolute requirement to have someone outside the beltway to lead the nation. As distasteful as this appears to be for not only the Democrats, it appears to be equally distasteful to the GOP leadership. Your lack of action on numerous legislative issues that this country desperately needs is visible to all.
The electoral map of the US. is RED because President Trump mobilized the electorate. These same voters are going to clean house again in 2018 if you don't start acting like leaders. Former Arizona state lawmaker Kelli Ward is out in front against Senator Jeff Flake by 25 percentage points today. Can you say: "We are tired of GOP leaders in Washington D. C.?" This is only going to increase across the U. S. for all GOP mid-term candidates if they continue to demonstrate no backbone and will not support our President.
My best description of where this country is headed was voiced by David Horowitz. "Friends, this isn't George Orwell's "1984." It is America, 2017." |
That is exactly how it appears to the loyal GOP voters out here in America right now. Why is zero legislation moving forward? We have the Presidency, we have the House, we have the Senate! What's wrong with this picture? We are wasting valuable time here, Senator McConnell and Representative Ryan. The voters are not going to waste time in 2018. This is the last chance for the GOP before it morphs into something none of us recognizes. And, by the way, when are you going to support the laws on the books? Sanctuary Cities, Antifa, tearing down statues, covering statues: the progressives are running wild and the GOP is laying down.
Remember freedom of speech? UC Berkeley? The progressives are worried about what shoes the first lady is wearing and the media is supporting it. What a wonderful world we are living in. Well there you have it.
President Trump and Vice President Pence are being copied on this plea for help. Hitch up your pants and stiffen your backbones. It's about time! I know what's coming because I live in a state that has already gone off the cliff - CALIFORNIA. The Progressive have already won here!! I mean the Globetrotters.
I have an extensive cc list of over 1,500 people. I'm asking them to send this note to 10 of their Conservative Friends. We the people will not sit still while this country is being abused and our values are not being represented. The Left will not take this country away from us.
Respectfully,
Lenard W. Wahlert
