SIRC Event. The Debate Monday, Like Some Super Bowls, Could Be A Bust! It Pays!

I am fed up hearing the phrase: "look presidential.""  What the hell does this expression mean?  When I look at Obama in his golf shorts with those skinny legs is that what is meant by looking presidential? If so, I prefer looking at Putin without his shirt riding a horse. or Kennedy in his bathing suit at the beach.

When I look at Trump getting his crop of hair mussed up is that presidential or when I observe Hillary's left eye crossing is she looking presidential or just like she took a heavy swig of Scotch.

My image of 'looking presidential' was destroyed by Bill, because every time I look at the Oval Office Desk I am reminded of what took place and I assume that was not what was meant by "looking presidential."

Certainly Gov. Dukakis did not "look presidential" in that tank. In fact, he looked pathetic and thus, lost the election. Jimmie Carter even made peanut farmers look bad.

I believe GW, with his sleeves rolled up, telling Muslim Terrorists they would soon be hearing from us, was a presidential look.  What say you?

I loved watching Harry S playing the piano.  Not because it made him "look presidential" but because it made him look human and those God awful Panama shirts he wore.  They were terrible but I loved him in them because it proved he did not give a damn what people thought and I believe that made him very presidential.

FDR was an invalid so he spoke behind a desk but he sounded presidential.

Wendell Wilkie looked like a wild man who always sounded and looked angry but then Adlai looked like an erudite professor. I loved listening to him but he had a hole in his shoe and was that considered presidential?

Hubert Humphrey always looked happy and bubbly, Ford looked serious and somber  and Nixon looked sullen.

So is to "look presidential"  a catchy phrase used by mass media dolts to convey the word they used to throw around all the time - "Gravitas?" He did or did not have "gravitas."

Frankly, I cannot wait for the elections to end so we can find out which of the two questionable choices we selected and he/she can get on with adding more nails to our nation's coffin as we grope at what it means to "be presidential."

I would rather a president be competent and screw how he looks but then impressions have become
elevated since television.  When we had radio, Fiorello LaGuardia could read the funny papers and we loved it and had we seen him doing so we might have turned him off because he looked like a Mafia Boss.  FDR had his Fireside Chats and they were homey and chummy and Ike always spoke like he had his golf balls in his mouth. Meanwhile, Patton looked more like a General than Ike and thus, more presidential but he cussed like a sailor. and Ike allegedly had an affair with his designated driver.

One thing for sure I believe to "look presidential" is more in the eyes of the beholder and is something news people use because it is just more media drivel that conveys their own struggle with trying to project gravitas.

Monday could mark the end of one of the two candidates.

On the other hand, so many times when there is significant hype preceding an event, the evening could prove a dull and boring one.  Time will tell.

I do believe Trump is likely to be subjected to more biased questioning and certainly the mass media will portray him in the worst light because that's what they do now and call it professionalism.

1) Donation Request ----SENT FROM FORMER 3 STAR GENERAL, FORMER SENATOR, ROBERT WINGLASS ( AND CLASSMATE )
Dear Friends:
I have the distinguished honor of being a member of the Committee to raise $50,000,000
for a monument to Hillary R. Clinton. We originally wanted to put her on Mt. Rushmore until we discovered there was not enough room for her two faces.

We then decided to erect a statue of Hillary in the Washington, D.C. Hall of Fame.
We were in a quandary as to where the statue should be placed.

It was not proper to place it beside the statue of George Washington, who never told a lie, or beside Barack Hussein Obama, who never told the truth, since Hillary could never tell the difference.

We finally decided to place it beside Christopher Columbus, the greatest Democrat of them all. He left not knowing where he was going, and when he got there he did not know where he was. He returned not knowing where he had been, and did it all on someone else's money.

Thank you,

Hillary R. Clinton Monument Committee

P.S.   The Committee has raised $2.16 so far.

2)  PEE OR NOT TO PEE?

I have a job.

I work, they pay me.

I pay my taxes & the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit.

In order to get that paycheck, in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test
(with which I have no problem).

What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes
To people who don't have to pass a urine test.

So, here is my question:
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check
Because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people
get back on their feet.

I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their BUTT----doing drugs while I work..

Can you imagine how much money each state would save
If people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

I guess we could call the program

"URINE" OR "YOU'RE OUT"!

Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't.
Hope you all will pass it along, though.
Something has to change in this country - AND SOON!
P.S. Just a thought, all politicians should have to pass a urine test too! They should also have to pass:
 an intelligence test,
 a common sense test and
 an understanding of the constitution
If you can read this....thank a teacher.
If you are reading this in English....thank a Veteran!

At UN, Netanyahu invites Abbas to Knesset, Abbas blames Israel for peace impasse

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas offered starkly different visions of how to achieve peace, with Netanyahu inviting Abbas to speak to the Israeli Knesset, while Abbas solely blamed Israel for the current impasse on peace.

The Israeli leader blamed the ongoing conflict with the Palestinians on their refusal to accept Israel as a Jewish state, not settlements.
“This conflict is not about the settlements, it never was,” he said. “If the Palestinians had said yes to a Jewish state in 1947 there would have been no war… and when they do finally say yes to a Jewish state we will be able to end this conflict once and for all.”

On the current deadlock in negotiations with the Palestinians, Netanyahu told Abbas he wants him to address the Israeli Knesset and that he’s prepared to “speak peace with the Palestinian parliament in Ramallah.”

Netanyahu also spoke about regional developments, including the warming relations between Israel and the Arab world, which sees Israel as an ally against threats like Iran and the Islamic State.

“The biggest change is taking place in Arab world. For first time in my lifetime many other states recognize us not as the enemy but as an ally,” he said.

On Iran, Netanyahu said that the threat a nuclear Iran poses “is not behind us, it’s before us. Israel will not allow the terror state of Iran to develop nuclear weapons. Not now. Not in a decade. Not ever.”

Meanwhile, in his address earlier Thursday to the U.N. General Assembly, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas blamed most of the failure towards reaching a two-state solution and the stalemate in negotiations on Israel.

Abbas called on Israel to cease expanding settlements, “collective punishment and its demolition of Palestinian homes,” as well as “extrajudicial executions” and “aggression and provocations against the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque” on the Temple Mount.

“I am compelled to again warn that what the Israeli government is doing in pursuit of its expansionist settlement plans will destroy whatever possibility and hopes are left for the two-state solution on the 1967 borders,” Abbas said.

He also said he’d seek a U.N. Security Council resolution that would denounce Israeli settlements and "the terror of the settlers against the Palestinian people."

5) Amb. Stevens’ Fiancee Releases Book, Levels Devastating Accusation at Hillary

Ambassador Chris Stevens’ former fiancée, Lydie Denier, said that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton resigned because she knew just how badly she had bungled the Benghazi debacle.

“She was at the top at the time; she was the secretary of state,” Denier told Newsmax. “What I always wondered is suddenly she decided to quit her job as secretary of state earlier than people were expecting.”
Denier addressed Benghazi and its aftermath in a new book, “A Voice for Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens,” commemorating the sacrifice of Stevens and the other Americans who died in the attack on the American diplomatic compound in September of 2012.
She speculated as to the cause of Clinton’s departure from office: “Did someone tell her, ‘Listen, you made a big boo-boo and you have to get out?’ That subject has never been brought to the public.”

Understandably, she said that Hillary Clinton can’t be trusted for the country — she certainly proved that she couldn’t handle the one situation that claimed the life of Denier’s fiancee.
“If we cannot trust her for Americans, how can we trust her for the whole country? It doesn’t make sense. In my book, I do talk about that and about what happened … Chris was and knew, was extremely knowledgeable about Libya and what was going on. He should’ve been listened to,” said Denier.
The book also took time to celebrate who Stevens was as a person. His fiancée understandably remembered him fondly.

“The Chris Stevens I knew was fun and loving, caring, always putting others in front of everything instead of himself,” she said.
Ultimately, Steven gave his life for his country — but he shouldn’t have had to.
