Thank you so much for helping us with our survey! We’ve learned that your top priority is that we hold news outlets and journalists accountable and that we engage directly with the media.
We’ve done so much of that in 2021, and will do even more in the coming year.
Five times in the last six months our editorial team identified mainstream “journalists” who either praised Hitler, referred to Jews or Israelis as “Nazis” or expressed direct support for terrorism against Israel, including contributors to The New York Times, CNN, BBC, The Washington Post and more.
For example, we revealed that Tala Halawa, who tweeted #HitlerWasRight, was inexplicably assigned by the BBC to cover Israel during the Hamas-initiated conflict in May.
She was subsequently let go by her employer.
Meanwhile, our exposés on the media’s failure to cover the Palestinian Authority’s misuse of foreign aid have triggered investigations by the Dutch and Belgian parliaments, including a probe into the PA’s financial support for anti-Semitic riots in which swastikas were set on fire.
The lies that contribute to growing antisemitism often begin in the media -- fortunately that is where we are experts: at combating lies and fighting for accuracy, fairness and basic truth about Israel.
In the coming year we will expand our efforts to challenge falsehoods and convey the facts in a way that they’re internalized, in order to ensure that news outlets get the story right the first time.
Because of our credibility within the media industry, we will continue to make a meaningful and measurable difference: for Israel and for Jewish communities across the world!
