GO DUFUSS. NEVER RIGHT SINCE BIRTH. 5000 ISRAELIS WARN BIDEN. ISRAEL PREPARES. UNCLE SOB BEHIND TOP GUN GLASSES. MORE.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I HAVE SAID, TIME AND AGAIN, BIDEN HAS NOT BEEN RIGHT, WHEN IT COMES TO MAJOR DECISIONS, SINCE BIRTH. NOW HE HAS AN EXCELLENTCHANCE TO START A WAR.  GO DUFUSS!

NOT ONLY IS HIS JUDGMENT AND OVERALL HEALTH UNSOUND BUT HE HAS DEMONSTRATED WHAT A TERRIBLE LEADER HE IS, AS WELL AS A VICIOUS, MEAN SPIRITED PERSON.

FINALLY, HE I , WHAT I CALL, AN OFF-LOADER.  EVERYONE IS TO BLAME FOR HIS MISTAKES. HE IS A VERY PATHETIC PERSON AND CETAINLY ONE OF THE WORST PRESIDENTS I HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO SINCE I WAS OF VOTING AGE.

HIS DECISION REGARDING WITHDRAWAL FROM AFGHANISTAN WAS BLATANT PIG HEADEDNESS AND SETS THE TONE FOR WHAT HE, APPARENLY, SEEMS HE WLL DO WITH RESPECT TO IRAN.

HIS FAILURE TO GUARD OUR BORDERS AND WILLINGNESS TO TURN A BLIND EYE WITH RESPECT TO THE DRUG AND HUMAN TRADE QUALIFIES HIM FOR IMPEACHMENT.

5,000 Former Israeli Officers Tell Biden: Iran Nuclear Deal ‘Catastrophic' | World Israel News

By Aryeh Savir, TPS

(SEPTEMBER 1, 2022 / WORLD ISRAEL NEWS) The pending renewed nuclear deal with Iran is “catastrophic for American, Israeli and global peace and security for a broad range of reasons,” thousands of Israeli security experts are warning while urging the Biden administration not to finalize it.

Some 5,000 members of the Israel Defense and Security Forum (IDSF), comprised of senior officers from all of Israel’s security services and law-enforcement agencies, dispatched a letter to U.S. President Joe Biden on Thursday asking him not to sign the nuclear deal with Iran, saying that “based on our collective experience and assessment, we believe that this deal is a threat to global peace,” for three primary reasons.

First, they say, despite the Biden administration’s repeated declared commitment to prevent Iran from attaining nuclear weapons, this agreement creates a clear legal pathway for Iran to obtain nuclear weapons by 2031, and denies the signatories of any tools to prevent that.

Second, the deal will unleash a regional nuclear arms race, in which states like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and other Sunni states will be forced to develop or acquire nuclear weapons to mitigate the Iranian threat.

“Sectarian and religious war will likely be triggered,” the missive warns.

Finally, the letter continues, the deal will deliver a windfall of previously frozen assets to Iran, funds that will “undoubtedly be used to export terror and instability throughout the region and beyond, at an unprecedented scale, with the addition of a future nuclear umbrella as a force multiplier.”

The group appealed to Biden as “a lifelong true friend of the Jewish People and the State of Israel,” urging him “not to jeopardize Israel’s security by enabling Iran to achieve nuclear military capabilities."

Israel to Buy Four Boeing Air-Force Refueling Tankers for $927 Million
Jewish News Syndicate (JNS)

The Israeli government and Boeing Co. announced a $927 million deal on Thursday to purchase four KC-46A refueling tankers for its air force. The first planes are slated to arrive in 2025.

“I would like to thank the U.S. Department of Defense for approving the important agreement for the provision of fuel tankers to Israel,” said Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz.

“The refueling aircraft that are being purchased, along with the procurement of the F-35 squadron, helicopters, submarines and advanced munition, will enable the IDF to face security challenges near and far,” said Gantz.

The tankers would replace the decades-old, repurposed Boeing 707s that Israel now employs for mid-air refueling, and they might help Israel indicate its seriousness about a long-threatened strike on Iran’s nuclear installations, reported Reuters.

However, the Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA) tweeted: “It is dismaying that Israel will not receive KC-46A aircraft refueling tankers until 2025.”

“The possibility of a new, insufficient Iran nuclear deal underscores the importance of the United States expediting KC-46s to Israel to enhance deterrence against Iran,” it stated.

Biden’s latest, lowest drive to divide America
By Post Editorial Board

President Joe Biden probably won’t roll out the “semi-fascist” charge in his Thursday night speech (unless he goes off-script), but he’ll still use his trademark blend of half-truths and outright lies to paint the entire Republican Party a threat to our democracy, with the real point being to get voters to think “Trump — oh, no!” and not “Biden — ugh!” this November.

In a Maryland test-drive of his Thursday themes, Biden told a group of Democratic fat-cats, “What we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of an extreme MAGA philosophy,” arguing: “It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the — I’m going to say something: It’s like semi-fascism.”

He soon proved unable to define that term (one reason his speechwriters will try to avoid it), but at a rally that night he claimed, “The whole notion of the burn-it-all-down politics and MAGA Republicans continues to be a drumbeat.”

But what, exactly, has the GOP done since Biden took the White House? Well:

Refused to vote for Democrats’ spending blowouts — trillions of which still passed, igniting the record inflation the nation now suffers.
Resisted his demagogic push last year to nationalize US voting laws to fit Democrats’ preferences. Oh, and the GOP in some states passed voting reforms that Biden denounced furiously as “Jim Crow 2.0” — though they’re markedly less restrictive than the laws in New York or his own Delaware.
Condemned Democrats’ flirtation with packing the Supreme Court.
Oh, and protested the weaponization of the Justice Department and FBI against parents who raise their voices in protest at school-board meetings.

And what would Republicans do if they won control of Congress this November? A better job of blocking Biden’s agenda, and hold a ton of . . . hearings investigating possible administration wrongdoing.

As far as the Trump threat to democracy: In office, he respected every court ruling against him and every defeat in Congress. And his efforts to reverse the 2020 election failed miserably from start to finish.

Yes, the Jan. 6 riot was a disgrace and a desecration, but that disorganized mob never had a chance of achieving anything. Even if it had been far larger and organized enough to, say, force a vote supposedly declaring Trump the winner, no one would’ve recognized that as legitimate.

Maybe Trump’s gone fully ’round the bend now, but the fact that he’s leading polls to be the GOP nominee in 2024 means squat: Polls this far out are meaningless reflections of  name recognition — wasn’t Jeb Bush the Republican frontrunner two years before the 2016 primaries? Plus, most of his endorsed candidates are on track to lose this fall — and he’s probably the only GOP nominee Biden could beat.

Yes, the Trump years shifted the GOP, breaking its long-outdated habit of trying to reduplicate the Reagan coalition. But nothing suggests it has embraced violence, let alone the “burn-it-all politics” that Biden pretends.

No: Thursday night will just bring a fresh drive to divide America to serve the short-term interests of a president whose vows to “unite” the nation have proved to be his emptiest words.

Who is the real fascist? (Daily Mail)
Is dotard Biden projecting?

Why is our president accusing others of being semi-fascist? Is it a case of that oddity of human nature known as “projection” and first summed up by youth on the playground: “Whoever smelt it dealt it.”

I examine the matter in the enclosed opinion piece from the Daily Mail.

Hysterical Biden demonizes millions of Republican voters as 'semi-fascists,' borderline terrorists and a 'threat to democracy' to scare his own voters to the ballot box. So who is the real fascist, asks
By CHRISTIAN WHITON FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

Christian Whiton is a former senior advisor in the Trump and George W. Bush administrations.

President Joe Biden thinks millions of Americans are part fascist and borderline terrorists. It would be laughable if it weren’t so disturbing.

Having worn out the label of ‘racist,’ which Biden and his political allies have applied to just about any political opponent, the dotard president has moved on to new baseless and dangerous insults.

Last week, while campaigning amid stunningly negative poll ratings, Biden remarked in Maryland: ‘It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the — I’m going to say something — it’s like semi-fascism.’

That’s quite the rebuke of the tens of millions of Americans who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020.

To compound matters, in a jaw-dropping White House press briefing on Wednesday, spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre appeared to up the ante as she previewed the president’s prime time address Thursday night, during which he’s expected to hammer these themes home.

‘The MAGA Republicans are the most energized part of the Republican Party,’ she haltingly read off prepared remarks. ‘That is an extreme threat to our democracy, to our freedom, to our rights. . . this is the most active base of the Republican Party.’

Accusing opponents of fascism is just the latest and kookiest claim progressives have attempted to avoid disaster in congressional elections this November.

Unfortunately for them, voters have an elegant habit of firing whoever is in charge when the economy is bad, and out-of-control inflation tells them all they need to know.

But the sheer recklessness of these remarks can’t be understated. If Biden believes nearly half the country is composed of racists and extremists, how on Earth is he going to represent their interests as president?

Hillary Clinton branded Trump’s voters ‘deplorables,’ Biden is saying that they are worse.

What is to be done with all these fascists running amok in America? Throw them into some re-education camps?

Out of curiosity though, what would the modern adaption of fascism, which emerged in Germany, Japan, and Italy in the 1930s, look like in America?

Following their predecessors, modern fascists would certainly try to control speech, deeming reasonable topics off limits, and punishing those who don’t comply with the loss of livelihood.

Intransigent free spirits might be ‘canceled,’ if you will.

Fascists feel a need to redefine a nation’s history to suit radical political goals. Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini invoked the Roman Empire, even though it was irrelevant to 20th century Italy. Adolf Hitler pretended Germany would have won World War I had it not been stabbed in the back by its own politicians.

To change the country, modern fascists might seek to redefine the founding of America, from one that created the greatest impetus for expanding freedom in human history to a grubby one that was based on propagating slavery.

Modern fascists would take care to control the apparatus of state power, which, after all, has a monopoly on the legitimate use of force.

Certainly, they would want to transform the FBI’s Washington field office from an organization that pursues unambiguous spies, terrorists and violent predators into one that runs political errands by persecuting the opposition party.

Contemporary fascists would update their ancestors’ corporatism, which became even more pronounced in Germany after the ‘Night of Long Knives’ eliminated more socialist-leaning elements among the Nazis.

Instead of just having state agencies implement policies, they would have friends in dominant corporations do so.

They might call on companies like Google, Twitter and Facebook to ‘moderate’ criticism that was unhelpful to the regime and elevate the regime’s lies, such as fake claims of collusion between their opponents and foreign powers like Russia.

Of course, all of these fascists or ‘semi-fascist’ things aren’t just theoretical. They’ve each happened in recent years, directed by the people now accusing others of being fascist.

In so doing, they’re exhibiting yet another trait of fascists: accusing the opposition of exactly what you yourself are guilty of doing.

Will it work in scaring voters to support the incumbent team that has run the country into the ground?

In a word: no.

Voters in the midterm elections and the 2024 presidential contest will render a verdict on the reality they see in their lives. And that reality doesn’t reflect Biden’s cranky smears or fever dreams.

Biden will soon be gone, but the damage he’s doing to the fabric of our nation will be long-lasting.

EMET : Efraim Is Right. Strike While Iron Is Hot. Hezbollah Amassing Weapons. Israel Needs To Destroy Them. Barring ID's Is An Insult To Founding Fathers. More.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I am a contributor to EMET and I find their programs very informative and insightful.

The latest presentation confirmed everything I have been saying for the last few years.

This is a summation of Efraim's comments:

Iran is not driven by ideology. Iran believes the destruction of Israel is God's will/intention They mean what they say and they intend to finish their nuclear effort and then to use it. They will not be deterred and Israel will have to go it alone because it cannot trust the word of others.

Israel must act not only to protect their survival but to reduce potential destruction and also because they must send a clear message to those Arab nation's who joined the Abraham Accords and are watching whether Israel is going to act in ways they expect/hope.  That said, they are still concerned and have been sending ambassadors to Iran as a hedge.

The idea of expecting regime change is a fool's game.  Iran's leadership is more than willing to kill their citizens.

Efraim was quite definite that Israel should have already acted and must do so as soon as they are capable.  He does not believe Israel is currently capable nor has completed their attack plans.  He stated, Israel must devote whatever resources it takes to prepare and then act. Furthermore, he has no doubt Israel is capable of destroying Iran's nuclear facilities and until they act Israel should continue their attacks on those Iranians involved in making their nuclear program a reality.

He stated, though the facilities are underground there is an entry point and even if it takes troops on the ground there are plenty of Israeli military that will volunteer.

He again repeated, Israel is on it's own and will always be on their own.

Efraim is a realist. He and those of his persuasion, should be  listened to and heeded simply because against a committed and outspoken enemy he who hesitates is lost.

Iran, China, Russia, N Korea are world enemies. We must not resurrect the ghost of Chamberlain.

US: Hezbollah’s amassing of weapons on Israel’s northern border must stop

The US warned that UNIFIL peacekeepers are being increasingly blocked from fulfilling their mission.

Hezbollah must stop amassing weapons on Israel’s northern border, the US’s Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, Richard Mills, told the UN Security Council in New York on Wednesday, after it voted to renew the mandate of the organization’s peacekeepers in southern Lebanon.

“The US shares this council’s significant concern about the state of affairs in southern Lebanon, in particular, Hezbollah’s threatening activities,” he said.

Tensions continue surrounding Lebanon-Israel maritime border demarcation talks

The UNSC vote comes as tension has increased between Israel and Lebanon over their maritime dispute.

On Wednesday, Reuters posted a video of two Lebanese ministers symbolically throwing rocks towards Israel.

Since 1978, the UN has maintained a peacekeeping force along the border between the two countries known as the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Since 2006 it has been specifically tasked with maintaining the cease-fire agreement that ended the Second Lebanon War and that was codified in UNSC Resolution 1701.

UNIFIL currently has a force of 10,500 peacekeepers from 48 UN countries. Its patrols focus on the area between the Blue Line and the Litani River, with an eye to preventing another arms build-up that could lead to another war, particularly by a non-state actor such as Hezbollah.

Israel holds that Hezbollah is an Iranian proxy group.

UN reiterates Lebanese Army should be only armed force in country

The UNIFIL resolution approved Wednesday reiterated the UN position that the Lebanese Army should be the only armed force in the country. It also called for UNIFIL to be given the freedom of movement needed to fulfill its mandate.

Mills said the resolution “reaffirms UNIFIL’s authority to operate independently and to conduct both announced and unannounced patrols.”

“We urge the Lebanese authorities as the host state to facilitate UNIFIL’s full and timely access to UNIFIL’s entire area of operations,” Mills said.

He echoed a concern raised many times by Israel about the Lebanese failure to ensure that UNIFIL has freedom of movement in its area of operation.

“UNIFIL peacekeepers are blocked with increasing frequency from conducting their mandated tasks and accessing sites of concern,” Mills said.

The area of between the Blue Line – the internationally recognized border that has yet to be ratified by both countries – and the Litani River “must be free of weapons except for those used by the government of Lebanon and UNIFIL,” he added.

“With this resolution [renewing UNIFIL’s mandate] the security council has made clear that Hezbollah’s continued amassing of weapons must stop,” Mills said.

He took particular issue with the actions of a non-governmental environment group called “Green Without Borders” believed to be an affiliate of Hezbollah that operates in southern Lebanon.

US accuses Hezbollah of obstructing UNIFIL

Mills accused the group of obstructing UNIFIL’s actions by placing containers near the border with Israel.

“The proliferation of prefabricated containers placed by Green Without Borders obstructs UNFIL’s access to the Blue Line and is heightening tension in the area, further demonstrating that this so-called environmental group is acting on Hezbollah’s behalf,” Mills said.

UNIFIL must also have access to the tunnels, he said, referring to the sites where Israel has documented that Hezbollah has dug attack tunnels along the border.

The UNSC votes annually to renew UNIFIL’s mandate. This year it added a paragraph to the renewal resolution that is largely the same from year-to-year, to strengthen the language showing its opposition to Hezbollah’s armed presence on Israel’s northern border and to the continued transfer of arms to that group.

The new paragraph stated that the UNSC “condemns the continued maintenance of arms outside the control of the Lebanese State by armed groups in violation of resolution 1701 (2006).”

It “recalls paragraph 15 of resolution 1701 (2006) according to which all States shall take the necessary measures to prevent, by their nationals or from their territories or using flag vessels or aircraft, the sale or supply of arms and related materiel to any entity or individual in Lebanon other than those authorized by the Government of Lebanon or UNIFIL.”

Opposing voter I.D is an insult to our "founding fathers."

John Fetterman’s reasons for opposing voter ID are an insult to black Americans

Adam B. Coleman

We’ve all repeated some form of tribal rhetoric because the underlying narrative came from people we strongly associate ourselves with. It becomes tribal rhetoric because it’s widely believed and accepted uncritically by those within the tribe.

I’d love, for example, to meet this mysterious black person I keep hearing about from politicians who is completely incapable of getting to the DMV to receive a photo ID.

When you apply critical thinking to the narrative that it’s racist to require people to provide photo ID to vote and it’s a Herculean effort for minorities to meet the request, you begin to realize how tribal thinking has perpetuated condescension of certain segments of our population.

Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, the Democratic candidate in the state’s high-profile Senate race, says he opposes voter-identification laws because poor people and “people of color” are, according to him, “less likely to have their ID at any one given time.”

Fetterman is far from being the only Democratic politician to repeat the line that black people, and by extension other minority groups, are incapable of gaining photo identification.

It’s widely repeated tribal rhetoric that uncritically spreads from one Democrat to another because it supports their foundational belief of black Americans’ inherent victimhood based upon insurmountable obstacles that are distinctive to us and no one else.

Cemented in the Democratic Party is the view that black Americans need to be paternally pitied, making it an applaudable accomplishment when one of us rises above their meager expectations.

John Fetterman has never applied critical thinking to the matter because he is a tribal creature repeating a condescending narrative about the very people he claims to care about.

To be fair, as a former Democrat, I was much like Fetterman for a brief period of time as I repeated what I heard from political pundits who were on my supposed team as they exaggerated our incapability. It was upon my own personal reflection and application of logic to this narrative that I realized I was perpetuating not only a falsehood but a demeaning belief about people who look just like me.

When I was a child, we were homeless on multiple occasions, yet my mother had a license and car the entire time. I’ve known people who were on welfare who had driver’s licenses. Matter of fact, in order to get on welfare, you need identification.

Sixty percent of black Americans live in 10 states, and you’re likely to guess those states based on the major cities within them. The majority of black Americans live in either highly populated urban centers or their surrounding suburban districts. Are we to say that in highly populated areas, they are incapable of finding a DMV to receive a photo ID?

If 61.2 percent of black Americans are middle class, how are they able to sustain this lifestyle without ever using photo identification? Even the economic poor need ID to perform basic adult tasks and gain employment. Are we to assert that most black people work “under the table” as well? The reality is that around 87 percent of black Americans already have government IDs.

Citizens vote at a polling location in Illinois on Election Day of 2020.Citizens vote at a polling location in Illinois on Election Day of 2020.Charles Rex Arbogast/AP

Democrats assume there’s an access issue, but gaining photo identification is a one-time function you won’t have to do again for years, not a weekly trial, and if most black Americans live in or near highly populated cities, it’s unlikely a DMV isn’t remotely accessible.

This tribal rhetoric of black Americans being incapable of obtaining a photo ID is not only condescending but riddled with racist tropes: You’d have to believe we are too dumb, incapable or lazy to truly accept that this singular requirement would keep millions of black people from participating in the voting process.

In politics, sometimes you need something or someone to leverage to implement or prevent policies, and the Democratic establishment has decided that black Americans are their most convenient tool to fight back against the GOP’s demand for photo identification for voting to prevent fraud and illegal voting by non-citizens.

The Democratic establishment has manufactured this perverted tribal rhetoric about black people for political power. Nothing more.

Florida Is Looking Better And Better For Conservatives

Florida is currently experiencing the highest rate of domestic immigration in the country, putting a huge stamp of approval on the state’s moves to keep the madness plaguing much of the country out of the state.

Florida ranks as the best state in the U.S. for both fiscal and economic freedom. The libertarian Cato Institute’s “Freedom in the 50 States” index gave the nod to the Sunshine State for the second straight year.

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis was quick to tweet the news. Besides the top ranking for fiscal and economic matters, Florida ranked second in both education freedom and overall freedom in the country.

Part of the Cato Institute’s conclusions came from the aggressive way the state stood behind business freedoms during the pandemic. While much of the country raced to lock doors, the Republican-led state took the lead in permitting companies to make individualized and common sense choices.

The Institute defined freedom as the ability of individuals to “dispose of their lives, liberties, and property as they see fit, so long as they do not infringe on the rights of others.”

Much of the state’s high ranking came from its government limiting taxation and debt. The report noted that tax collections, government consumption, and obligations are all lower than the national average.

In DeSantis’ state of the state address earlier this year that opened the 2022 legislative session, he declared the state to be the freest in the nation. He called Florida “freedom’s vanguard” and criticized those that crush their citizens under high taxes and oppressive regulations.

As more and more conservatives decide to pick up and head to Florida, the state appears to be strengthening the Republican majority, which — hopefully — will assure a safe space for those who want to maintain some semblance of the America now being destroyed by the left.

Signing of Iran Deal Inches Closer as Regime Ramps Up Uranian Enrichment

Edited by: TJVNews.com, 8/31/22

Iranian leaders feared former President Donald Trump, and after the killing of a top Iranian general, Tehran adhered to the terms of the nuclear deal, a former top Israeli national security official said Tuesday, according to a report on the World Israel News web site.

Speaking with Channel 14, Jacob Nagel, former chief of Israel’s National Security Council and former acting National Security Advisor to then-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said that President Trump’s dramatic steps vis-à-vis Iran kept the Islamic regime in compliance with the nuclear deal – even after the U.S. withdrew from the agreement. CONTINUE

And:

A Deal Based on Lies: The Iran Nuclear Agreement Will Make War More Likely

by Richard Kemp

Under the proposed renewed nuclear deal, Iran can legitimately commence operation of advanced uranium enrichment centrifuges in two years, all the while working flat out to develop nuclear-capable ballistic missiles that, along with its terrorist activities, are not covered at all in the agreement.

As Western governments quake in the face of Russian nuclear threats, they are on the verge of striking a deal that will give Iran that same power over them.

Even after six months of war in Europe, they cannot seem to grasp the parallels between the two. Putin risked invading Ukraine because of Western weakness and appeasement, naively welcoming Russia back into the family of nations after it devoured large parts of Ukraine in 2014, while at the same time filling its war chests with ever more billions of euros from energy exports to Europe.

Iran has been waging war non-stop on the West and its allies in the Middle East since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Appeasing Tehran by endorsing its nuclear programme and handing it billions of dollars from sanctions relief will likewise empower and encourage the ayatollahs to greater aggression even than hitherto. These are the effects of the proposed nuclear deal brokered by the EU, Russia and China. Why is it brokered by the EU, Russia and China? Because the United States was outrageously banned from direct negotiations by Tehran. It is not outrageous that Iran demanded it, but that the US tolerated its own exclusion.

The feeble mantra of the apologists for President Joe Biden's JCPOA 2.0, a desperate attempt to revive President Barack Obama's failed agreement from 2015 that paved the way to an Iranian nuclear bomb, is "a bad deal is better than no deal". Well, no it is not, and the deal that is about to emerge will be even worse. The argument of the "bad" dealers is that it buys time for the West, with Micawberish optimism that "something will turn up". This thinking is clear from Biden's preposterous hope that he can "lengthen and strengthen" the deal once it has been struck. But optimism is not a strategy and it certainly is not a strategy for dealing with a violent and volatile revolutionary regime dedicated to the destruction of the Jewish state, which it sees as the proxy of its ultimate enemy, America.

While in office, Obama declared that Iran would not be allowed to build nuclear weapons on his watch. He must have known that the only way to prevent that was through military action or perhaps crippling sanctions, but was unwilling to do either and the result was the JCPOA, which kicked the problem down the road onto someone else's watch.

Unfortunately the road was short — and is now shorter still. The sunset clauses in Obama's JCPOA are not going to be extended in this new deal, and that means Tehran can legitimately commence operation of advanced uranium enrichment centrifuges in two years, all the while working flat out to develop nuclear-capable ballistic missiles that, along with Iran's terrorist activities, are not covered at all in the agreement. At best Biden's new deal just boots the can down the road to his own successor.

The "buying time" argument, and indeed an argument for any agreement, only works if you do not understand Iran and are naive enough to believe the regime will honour what it agrees to. You only need to look across the border at the equivalent jihadist entity next door in Afghanistan, which Biden assured us was somehow reformed and had undertaken not to allow Al Qaida to rebuild its base there, only to find a year later its leader living and plotting in Kabul under the protection of the Taliban leadership.

The reality that the optimistic and the unschooled fail to grasp is that the regime in Tehran will ignore constraints imposed by the deal that it does not like. That is what it did with the original JCPOA and its other international undertakings including the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty that it has frequently breached, confirmed again earlier this year by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

As Mossad chief David Barnea said a few days ago, the deal is "based on lies".

Tehran will continue to develop the nuclear capability that it sees as its right — deal or no deal — at the speed it wants until it is physically stopped from doing so. Whatever shape Biden's deal takes there are only downsides for the West and the Middle East and only upsides for Tehran. Signing the deal will give Iran renewed legitimacy (while getting Biden and his European friends off the hook of having to confront reality). More than that, according to Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, Tehran will receive $100 billion a year as a result of lifted sanctions.

Those dollars will enable Iran to speed up its nuclear programme, including development of ballistic missiles capable of launching nuclear warheads not just across the Middle East but also to Europe and the US. Those dollars will boost Iran's regional aggression, threatening Saudi Arabia and the UAE from Yemen, threatening Israel from Lebanon, Syria and Gaza, and threatening the US, Europe and the world with its global network of terrorist proxies and followers. This violent malignity, which will shift into overdrive with a massive cash injection, was most recently exhibited by Tehran's proxies in Gaza launching thousands of missiles at Israel in August, by rocket attacks in Syria that wounded US servicemen just a few days ago, by the attempt to murder Salman Rushdie in the US and by recently-revealed Iranian assassination plots against former members of the Trump administration. All that while dictating terms at the negotiating table.

Missing no opportunity to exploit Western spinelessness, there is also a significant upside for Tehran's ally Russia, which has been in bed with America, Europe and Iran over the negotiations while at the same time inflicting untold violence in Ukraine. Released from sanctions, Iran will be used as an economic refuge by Moscow to evade its own international sanctions. It will be no comfort to Western citizens to know that their governments are taking action that will ease Russian pain while they themselves endure enormous economic suffering as a result of the very restrictions Putin will bypass.

Under the draft deal, Iran will be able to retain the uranium that it has been illicitly producing since the original JCPOA, enriched beyond any requirements for a peaceful nuclear programme. In a twist that many will find shocking, it seems likely that Russia — despite its own repeated nuclear threats — will be handed control of this existing uranium stockpile. Taken together with the benefits that will accrue to China also, which last year concluded a long-term economic agreement with Iran, this deal clearly runs counter to American and European national security interests as well as Israel's. This is not a strategic misjudgement that might only be discovered downstream; it is blatantly obvious today.

As the deal legitimises the Islamic Republic, it will delegitimise the vital efforts of those who have no choice but to deal with it or risk annihilation. Sometimes with US and British assistance, Israel has been conducting a long-term covert campaign to contain and delay Iran's nuclear project. This campaign, which must continue, will be seen in a different light by Western governments once the deal is in place — a deal that they will be every bit as desperate to be seen publicly to succeed as they have been to bring it about.

Twice before, Israel has saved the world from nuclear catastrophe in the Middle East, by bombing an Iraqi nuclear reactor in 1981 and a Syrian reactor in 2007. Both raids were condemned by world leaders at the time, who only later came to comprehend the enormity of what they had been delivered from. Imagine the reactions of Western governments to such action against Iran when a deal is in place. Destroying the Iranian nuclear infrastructure, while at the same time defending against the inferno Tehran will seek to unleash using its Hizballah proxies in Lebanon, will be a challenge infinitely greater than that faced by Israel in Iraq or Syria.

This chilling scenario — for which the world will pay a very high price — is about to be made more likely by the ill-judged actions of governments in America and Europe, which lack the resolve and courage to apply sufficient economic pressure and military deterrence to put a stop to Iranian nuclear ambitions. Instead, as they did in response to Russian aggression, they are again opting for appeasement, the opium of the faint-hearted.

Biden’s Choice: Semi-Fascism or American Socialism

By Daniel Henninger

He has chosen Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia to give a much-hyped speech Thursday on MAGA and the “continued battle for the soul of the nation.” At a Democratic rally last week he went deep into his MAGA well, likening it to “semi-fascism.”

One has to admit that “MAGA” sounds weirdly sinister, like the old political joke about a candidate who railed that his opponent’s sister was a “known thespian.” Mr. Biden surely knows (or maybe he doesn’t know) that MAGA stands for Make America Great Again. What’s not to like about that, other than the guy who’s making money selling red MAGA hats?

We’re in an election cycle, so on cue the Democrats roll out the Donald J. Trump monolith to frighten the population. Mr. Trump himself never looks a gift horse in the mouth.

Politicians go negative because negative works. The pity here is that this November’s elections are indeed important because the first two years of Mr. Biden’s presidency have become consequential.

Inflation is the No. 1 issue on voters’ minds now. But in 2020 the top issue was the Covid-19 pandemic. Whichever candidate won would be responsible for reviving post-pandemic America by addressing the multiple disruptions to the country’s economic and social life.

Mr. Biden ran and won as a moderate. His presidency’s policies have not been moderate. The Democratic Party’s two leading moderates are Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, who spent most of the past two years opposing Mr. Biden’s policy goals, which quickly became contiguous with the party progressives Mr. Biden ran against—Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

Let’s get in the semi-spirit of this semi-moment by suggesting that the Biden-Sanders-Warren Democrats now stand for semi-socialism. And that their method for putting much of their policy objectives in place is semi-authoritarianism, which its proponents simply call “bypassing Congress.” That would be the legislative branch that is the product of millions of individual votes.

The Supreme Court’s recent message in West Virginia v. EPA was that “bypassing Congress” can be, at the least, unconstitutional.

Another word in our politics that is supposed to invoke abhorrence is “polarization,” as if it were only the result of bloody-minded politicians. But the policy initiatives of the Biden presidency prove the two parties are far apart, and that the choices voters need to make about their future are increasingly stark.

The historians who told Mr. Biden in March 2021 to “go big” like Franklin Roosevelt knew what they wanted—a U.S. economy actively directed by government rather than shaped by private economic choices.

For the Biden White House, addressing the country’s immediate post-pandemic problems—high inflation, labor-market distortions, supply-chain impediments—is a secondary concern, at best. Instead, they are implementing policies on an array of longer-term goals, such as healthcare, climate, education and financial regulation.

The new legislation will let Medicare introduce price controls on pharmaceuticals. The bill spends $369 billion to achieve far-in-the-future climate goals, primarily with tax credits for electric vehicles and federal subsidies for renewables. Some $80 billion for IRS enforcement will target the small and medium-size businesses attempting to recover from the pandemic’s government-ordered dislocations. As justification for Mr. Biden’s massive student-loan forgiveness order, the administration cited the fig leaf of a Covid “emergency,” though in fact this policy goal predates the pandemic.

To reduce the suppressive effects of regulatory excess on private economic activity, the Trump administration introduced “one-in, two-out” streamlining, where for every rule added, two had to be repealed. The Biden government rescinded that initiative.

Despite the pain of higher costs for gasoline, home heating fuels and indeed a historic energy-related crisis in Europe over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the administration has implemented policies to eliminate the U.S. fossil-fuel industry by banning pipeline construction and shutting in production leases.

The scale of Mr. Biden’s use of executive orders is unprecedented, making the issue of semi-authoritarianism at least a talking point. The political left of its nature recognizes no limits on public power. But other than world wars, it isn’t clear the American people consider relentless benevolent statism to be inside this country’s traditions, as Mr. Biden now enthusiastically believes.

Congressional Republicans are losing ground in polls partly because of abortion but largely because the party out of power has no public self-definition. Newt Gingrich, along with the visionary Republican Rep. Dick Armey, overcame that minority substance problem before the 1994 midterms by issuing the Contract With America.

But an unexpected opportunity has emerged. Mr. Biden, by blurting out unscripted what he and many progressive Democrats believe—that much of the country is now semi-fascist—has opened a door to debating whether his presidency is semi-socialist. And whether that’s where America wants to go.

Why do Jews who worship social justice support social injustice?

Liberals are backing open borders and loan bailouts that hurt working-class Americans and could lead to a massive wealth transfer from the less well-off to the more prosperous.

By JONATHAN S. TOBIN

(August 30, 2022 / JNS) For most American Jews, the core of their Jewish identity revolves around ideas relating to social justice rather than thinking about Israel or observing Jewish religious laws and traditions. That has long been obvious to observers of a community, the majority of whose members have either discarded religion from their lives altogether or who affiliate or identify with liberal denominations of Judaism. This was confirmed again by the most recent definitive study of American Jewish life conducted by the Pew Research Institute and published in 2021.

That study revealed that when asked to define what being Jewish means to them the most popular answers were, in this order: remembering the Holocaust (76%), leading an ethical and moral life (72%), and working for justice and equality in society (59%). Far down the list were more ideas that are more particular to Jewish existence: caring about Israel (45%), being part of a Jewish community (32%), and dead last and falling below things like having a sense of humor (32%) and eating traditional foods (20%) was observing Jewish religious law (15%).

Given the demographic makeup of American Jewry is predominantly secular that makes sense. Those who identify in some way as being Jewish generally see themselves as part of a community that, while obliged to remember past tragedies affecting their relatives, are primarily interested in ideas that align with their liberal political beliefs.

While Judaism contains elements that are both sectarian and apply only to Jews, as well as universal values, most contemporary American Jewish discourse outside of the Orthodox world revolves around the pursuit of social justice. Liberals are entirely correct to label that quest as quintessentially Jewish though it has often led them to prioritize issues that are secular over those that are related to the security and survival of Jews in a hostile world.

The debate over the wisdom of those priorities is one that conservatives and the more religiously observant may take issue with. But the question to ask about all of this is whether in an era of political realignment, Jews who say they are motivated by a desire to advance social justice are actually supporting policies that do the opposite simply because of partisan loyalties and personal interest.

As astonishing as it may be to those who came of age politically in the 20th century or even the first decade of the 21st, the party once seen as the defender of the working class—the Democrats—is now one that seems to appeal most to the highly educated and the upper classes, and the one that used to be the party of Wall Street—the Republicans—is now one that seems to appeal primarily to the working class.

Given that American Jews are among the most highly educated people in the country—as well as, on balance, more likely to be well off than poor—it is unsurprising that this means that while some groups on both sides of the spectrum are figuratively crossing the aisle, the overwhelming majority of Jews remain firmly in the Democratic column.

Since Jewish Democrats believe that places them firmly on the side of social justice, there is little reason to believe that most of them will be part of the shifting landscape of American politics. Yet even if we must concede that this is an unalterable fact of life, it still begs the question as to why so many of them are supporting some of the most regressive ideas and policies proposed in living memory.

One example is the widespread hostility among liberal Jews towards any measures that are taken to halt illegal immigration into the country. Citing the religious obligation to care for “the stranger,” Jews were among the most hostile to former President Donald Trump’s efforts to build a border wall and to deter, if not shut down, the flood of people pouring over America’s southern border without the legal right to do so. Jewish groups didn’t just support proposals for amnesty for the illegal immigrant population; many employed inappropriate Holocaust analogies and compared those defying the rule of law to those who fled the Nazis. Yet even those who made no egregious comparisons of economic migrants from Central America to Anne Frank believe that President Joe Biden’s decision to more or less halt the enforcement of immigration laws and downgrade border security that amounts to an open borders policy is a matter of social justice.

Yet few, if any, of them stop to think that while their lives and livelihoods are unaffected by the hundreds of thousands entering the country in this manner, those who live in border communities and states are having a very different experience as drug trafficking and violence go hand-in-hand with those who profit from illicit border crossings. Nor do they ponder the fact that poorer and working-class Americans, including minorities, are the losers in this exchange. Though support for a steady supply of cheap labor is, as it always has been, enthusiastically supported by Wall Street, it is low-wage workers who are disadvantaged by this situation.

Perhaps even more egregious is the enthusiasm among liberal Jews for Biden’s most recent policy initiative: a plan to “forgive” what amounts to approximately $330 billion in student loan debt. This is being sold as a way to help struggling Americans deal with the exorbitant costs of higher education as well as helping those on the lower end of the economic scale since there are income limits on whose debts can be written off by the taxpayers.

That claim is among the most disingenuous assertions in recent political history.

While this will likely help a lot of Jewish families, it must also be understood as a massive wealth transfer from the working class and the uneducated to those who either now or in the future will be upper middle- or upper-class citizens. Fully 70% of those who will benefit the most from this policy will be those in the top 60% of Americans by income. Top earners now have a far greater share of student loan debt than those at the bottom.

In an act of perhaps unintentional irony, Harvard Law School Professor Lawrence Tribe took to Twitter to thank Biden for a policy that will be “good news for thousands of my former students.” They should be grateful. But no one should confuse a policy that will benefit some of the most privileged and ultimately wealthy people at the expense of the hard-earned taxpayer dollars paid to Washington by truck drivers, food servers and manual laborers, with justice. It’s nothing less than Robin Hood in reverse.

That this federal spending spree will also help fuel the record inflation the country is currently experiencing, which also disproportionately impacts the poor and the working class, only adds to the injustice and manifest unfairness of this scheme.

Of course, if we really wanted to do something about the cost of college—a genuine problem, as tuitions have risen in recent decades far beyond the inflation rate—we could force institutions of higher education to be accountable rather than pour more federal money into them which only encourages them to continue to overcharge students for degrees.

Seen in that light, it makes it difficult to take a lot of the rhetoric about the imperative to pursue social justice from Jewish liberals seriously. When it comes to government-provided student loans, they are merely pursuing their own self-interest. The same applies to their open borders stands. Far from defending Jewish values about helping the less privileged, what they are doing is supporting ideas that make America less fair for those on the bottom and better for those on the top. You can call that a lot of things, but none of them have anything to do with justice.
